Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?
- Thanks for the interview, Detritivor is an Indonesian Death Metal band, formed in Yogyakarta Indonesia around mid 2009.
Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?
- We were start recording our new album on December 2019 targeting it will be finish on April 2020, but bacause of the pandemic it get delayed until October 2020. About production sound, mixing and mastering handled by Arif Wahyu Ramadhan.
How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
- For now our label Brutal Mind had released 500 copies CDs so grab it fast before it out of stock. It also available in various digital platforms like Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple Music, etc. We looking forward that it can be release in cassette and vinyl.
Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?
- The lyric was written by our vocalist and like most of Death metal band our lyric is not far away from blood, corpse but especially in our song is about a serial killer.
Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
- The logo of the band was created by Pandu Mahendra (ex Brutal Corpse, Venomed) and about the graphic if you means is the artwork of cover album it was created by Donny D. Novaz. Of course social networks is important because by that everyone in the whole world can hear your music and we can spread our energy and spirits through our music to the world.
Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?
- Before we’re released this album we had released our demo content of two killer songs in 2019 and finally in same year we signed contract with our label Brutal Mind, this label based on Jakarta Indonesia. Brutal mind is one of the biggest Brutal Death Metal record label in Indonesia with distribution range worldwide so there is much more people can hear our music.
Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?
- We like to hear Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Monstrosity, Malevolent Creation, Deicide, Vader, Suffocation, Death Vomit (Indonesia) and more stuffs similar like those. We get inspiration especially for the lyric is mostly from the movie.
Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?
- No we haven’t sent our record to another labels because we have contract with our label Brutal Mind so the record for this album is released by them.
How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
- From this album was released we haven’t any gigs yet, it because of the pandemic. Our goverment doesn’t allow it considering of healthy protocol, but before this pandemic we had many gigs and all of it is awesome gigs we can’t choose one for our best gigs ever because every gigs have their own energy and new experiences for us.
What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
- We will keep playing Death Metal music. We hope that we can always produce something great with more brutality and more people can hear and enjoy our music.

Celý život žiju v temnotě. Toulám se podzemím a tak jsem byl ze světla velmi překvapený. Probudil jsem se z šoku a mé nohy už olizovaly plameny. Ve starých hrobkách pukaly lebky našich předků, byl to smutný pohled. Pach rozkládajícího, škvařícího se masa, chodby ozářené bolestí a smutkem. Takhle nějak jsem si vždycky představoval peklo, když jsem o něm čítával. Tentokrát získalo doslova fyzickou podobu.
Australští čerti TERRORENTIAL by se v podobných místech pohybovali jako ryba ve vodě. Jako divocí predátoři. Hrají totiž starý prašivý thrash metal, notně šmrncnutý deathem. Hudbu, pro šedivé bardy, kteří rádi a často vzpomínají na dobu, kdy byla džínová vesta povinností.
Nejsou to ale jen základy thrashe a deathu, které se v tvorbě australských divokých psů objevují. S kapelou se vydáme i až někam k heavy metalu, blacku. Hlavní je síla melodie, jiskra a pověstné chvění. Jedná se o debut, kterému by se dalo ledacos odpustit, ale nemusím. Deska se skvěle poslouchá, je svěží, zajímavá, TERRORENTIAL si na nic nehrají, je cítit, že mají hudbu v srdcích. "Visions" je jako studený vítr, který se prohání podzemím, po spáleništi. Ze zdí vystupují jako výčitky dlouhé stíny, pozůstatky prokletých duší. Líbí se mi zvuk, obal, nahrávku si opravdu užívám. Je v ní totiž obsaženo vše potřebné pro pořádnou pařbu v katakombách. Nohy si automaticky podupávají do rytmu, v břiše mě hlodá pradávný červ z osmdesátých a devadesátých let, rozkládá moje vnitřnosti a nutí mě k opakovaným poslechům. Mám rád starý, prašivý metal v jeho základní podobě. Pořád uctívám dobrý riff, ostrý hlas a dunivé bicí. TERRORENTIAL mě vzali na parádní výlet po časové ose zpět. Patří jim za to dík, uříznuté paroháče nad hlavou a uznání od starého šedivého metalového psa. "Visions" je velmi dobře zahraným odkazem, citací z metalových učebnic. Má v sobě sílu a drive i temnotu. Vítejte v pekle!

"Visions" je temným poselstvím z onoho světa. Pokud bychom hledali nějaké vyslance záhrobí, museli bychom zákonitě narazit na australské death/thrash metalisty TERRORENTIAL. Fascinuje mě přístup, jakých uchopila kapela staré smrtící pořádky, přetransformovala je to dnešní doby a stvořila album, které připomíná rozzuřené monstrum. Peklo opravdu existuje! Novinka těchto maniaků je toho jasným důkazem. Narovnejte prašivé kosti do úhledných hromad, otevřete dveře do záhrobí a povolejte nemrtvé! Australští uctívači old school death/thrash metalu jsou zde! Řvou mocně, hlasitě a jejich hlas je podobný samotné Bestii. Skvělé nápady, temná a zlá atmosféra, naléhavost, dravost. Tohle všechno dělá z CD TERRORENTIAL absolutně zahnívající záležitost. Album bylo nahráváno snad někde v podzemí, v opuštěných chodbách vedoucích do obrovské márnice. Smrt je při poslechu velmi blízko! Zlo přichází. Old school thrash death metal, který vám zničí mozek kyselinou! Old school death/thrash metal, který vás na věky prokleje!

Martin Servaz, můj oblíbený detektiv, se vrátil. Řeší případ v Pyrenejích, v jednom od světa odříznutém údolí. Táhne mu na padesát a v mnoha ohledech se cítí úplně stejně jako já. Tak trošku zklamaný z dnešního světa, z lidí, ze zloby a nenávisti kolem. Kniha tak není jen skvěle vyprávěnou detektivkou, ale i pohledem na současnou Francii, sociální sítě, na zkaženost a temnotu, která se kolem nás rozlézá jako jedovatá voda. Alespoň to jsem si z nového Miniera tentokrát odnesl. Četl jsem po manželce a jako vždy jsme čekali na názor toho druhého. Sedneme si odpoledne s kafem a diskutujeme. Kniha se nám líbila oběma. Má v sobě totiž velkou sílu.
Ono se to nezdá, ale podobné případy se opravdu stávají, stačí se podívat večer na zprávy. A nebo víte co, raději to nedělejte, padne na vás jinak deprese. Lepší bude, když si jako já zalezete do kouta, nalijete si něco dobrého a necháte se unášet velmi napínavým příběhem. Minier je ve velmi dobré formě, úplně před sebou vidím Pyreneje, hrstku policajtů, kteří se snaží přijít na kloub další brutální vraždě. Četl jsem opět jedním dechem, nekoukal na televizi, ani na internet, jako za starých dobrých časů, kdy jsem se čtením jako malý smrádě začínal. Je to stejně zvláštní, že určitá poselství, odkaz doby, nacházím v detektivkách. Ale je to tak. Vítejte v Údolí a dejte si velký pozor. Možná zrovna někdo sleduje i vás!

Death metal musí řezat a pálit, musíte mít pocit, že vám někdo drtí kosti kladivem. MÖRTUAL z Kostariky tohle všechno umí. Jsou suroví, syroví, jako ruka právě se rozkládající mrtvoly. Hnilobné procesy byly zahájeny.
MÖRTUAL jsou extrémní smečkou, hrající pravý nefalšovaný 100% death metal. Žádné zbytečnosti, žádné kompromisy. Mají na svém kontě ještě jedno demo z roku 2017. Novinka je potom neurvalým přírůstkem do toho nejhlubšího undergroundu. Hroby se otvírají, v márnici je zase slyšet nářek nemrtvých. Jsem jeden z nich. Čekám, až budu převeden na druhou stranu. EP "Divine Monstrosity" je mým skvělým průvodcem. S masivním, hutným zvukem, skvělým obalem i typickou neurvalostí pro kapely z této oblasti. Mám rád způsob, jakým smečka přistupuje ke své hrobnické práci, líbí se mi, že se skladby zadírají pod kůži. Na desce naleznete spoustu zajímavých momentů a budete mít chuť rozmlátit nejbližší zeď, exhumovat další hrob, odpojit sami sebe od přístrojů a vydat se na dlouhou cestu do země stínů. Kostaričané jsou mým soukromým objevem, kapelou, na kterou jsem narazil při mých nekonečných toulkách podzemím. Odkazem starých death metalových kapel, které jsou ryzí, opravdové a vykostí vás zaživa! Velmi dobře!

Death metal has to cut and burn. You have to feel like someone is crushing your bones with a hammer. MÖRTUAL from Costa Rica can do all this. They are raw, like the hand of a decaying corpse. Rotting processes have begun.
MÖRTUAL are an extreme band, playing real unadulterated 100% death metal. No unnecessary things, no compromises. They have another demo from 2017 on their account. The new album is then a relentless addition to the deepest underground. The graves open, and the cries of the undead can be heard in the morgue again. I'm one of them. I'm waiting to be transferred to the other side. The EP “Divine Monstrosity” is my great guide. With a massive, dense sound, great packaging and typical boldness for bands form this area. I like the way the pack approaches its grave work. I like the fact that the tracks get under my skin. Občas se mi stává, že v tom velkém množství dnes produkované muziky, bývám ztracený. Jsem přejedený a nemám na nic náladu. Oceňuji hlavně ticho a dobrou knihu. Měl jsem zrovna podobné stavy. Potřeboval jsem vyčistit hlavu, přemýšlet nad něčím jiným. Po několika dnech mi ale začala hudba chybět. Nahoře na hromadě CD pro recenze leželo nové album francouzských ATHANATHEOS.
Pustil jsem si jej a po několika skladbách musel zase vše vypnout. Co to se mnou je? Vyhořel jsem? Přemohl jsem se a zkusil znovu. A byl nadšen. Odpočatý mozek najednou vnímal každý odstín, náladu, chvění. Album jsem si teď neskutečně užíval. Měl jsem co dělat, abych si nezarýval nehty do dlaní.
Viděli jste někdy papír, který shoří ve větru? Nádhera co? Podobně na mě působí i "Prophetic Era (Or How Yahveh Became the One)". Základem je death metal, okořeněný doomem, ale i třeba blackem. Různé střídání poloh a nálad je dnes velmi častým jevem u progresivních kapel, ale Francouzi vše dovedli k dokonalosti. Harmonie. Přesně tohle slovo mě napadá nejčastěji. Není lehké složit chytlavou skladbu, není lehké předložit dobrý motiv, který by byl zároveň dobře poslouchatelný. Dívám se do ohně a sleduji plameny. ATHANATHEOS dokáží být zemití, divocí,potom během několika okamžiků zvolní a dodají nám naději. Co na tom, že za chvilku všechno shoří v plamenech drsného riffu? Přiznám se, že mě deska zpočátku vůbec nebavila. Měl jsem dokonce sepsánu velmi ostrou kritiku. Smazal jsem ji a začal znovu. Desce totiž nechybí ani energie, ani pestrá směsice nálad. Už dlouho jsem nezažil, že by na mě někdo dokázal přenést tolik emocí. O zvuku, obalu, produkci netřeba hovořit, vše je v pořádku. Tohle je album pro posluchače, kteří rádi přemýšlejí, mají bujnou fantazii a entuziasmus. Znáte ten pocit, když někdo drápy škrábe po zdi? Také vás z toho mrazí? S "Prophetic Era (Or How Yahveh Became the One)" to mám velmi podobné. Povznášející muzika!

I just had similar states of mind like that. I needed to clear my head, think about something else. But after a few days, I started to miss music. At the top of the pile of reviews was a new album by the French ATHANATHEOS.
I played it and after a few songs I had to turn everything off again. What's the matter with me? Did I burn out? I overcame myself and tried again. And I was excited. The rested brain suddenly felt every hue, mood, tremor. I really enjoyed the album. I had to do something so that I didn't dig my fingernails into my palms.
Have you ever seen a piece of paper being burned in the wind? Beautiful right? The album “Prophetic Era (Or How Yahveh Became the One)” has a similar effect on me. The basis is death metal, spiced with doom but also black. Different changes of positions and moods are very common today in progressive bands, but the French have perfected everything. Harmony. This is exactly the word that comes to my mind most often. It is not easy to compose a catchy song, it is not easy to present a good motive that would also be easy to listen to. I look into the fire and watch the flames. ATHANATHEOS can be earthy, wild, then slow down in a few moments and give us hope. Who cares about the fact that in a moment everything will burn in the flames of a rough riff? I admit that at first I didn't enjoy the record at all. I even had a very sharp critique. I deleted it and started again. The album does not lack energy or a varied mix of moods. I have not experienced for a long time that someone could convey so many emoticons to me. No need to talk about the sound, packaging, production - everything is fine. This is an album for listeners who like to think, have a wild imagination and enthusiasm. Do you know the feeling when someone scratches their claws on the wall? Does it make you cold too? It's very similar to the "Prophetic Era (Or How Yahveh Became the One)". Uplifting music!

Z opuštěné márnice je cítit hrozný smrad. Tentokrát to ale nejsou rozkládající se těla, ale spíše štiplavý zápach síry. Jinak by byla temná klidná noc, jenže to by nesměli vylézt čerti z děr. Vstupuji dovnitř a hned se ke mě lísá jedna samice. Má jiskru v očích a jedovatý jazyk. Upsal jsem se kdysi ďáblu, už jenom tím, že poslouchám muziku jemu zaslíbenou. Mám už přes třicet let rád špinavý zvuk, praskání kostí i nekonečný tanec, který vede vždy k nevyhnutelnému.
Ano, tušíte správně, dnes je mé doporučení ještě špinavější, než kdy jindy. Pestrou směsici thrashe, starého death metalu, blacku a punku, ocení především zralejší metalisté. Polští WITCHFUCK hrají neurvale, zběsile, s důrazem na chladnou a černo černou atmosféru. Pokud máte chuť, slyšte ozvěny ze záhrobí a užijte si jako já opravdové setkání s reálnou smrtí.
Tenhle zkažený koktejl bude dělat dobře všem fanouškům třeba takových AURA NOIR, WITCHMASTER, DESASTER, VENOM, HELLHAMMER, CELTIC FROST, NIFELHEIM, DEATHHAMMER, ANTICHRIST, HELLGRINGER a podobných záležitostí. Pro pochopení "Black Blood Baptism" se musíte vydat na dlouhý výlet k prazákladům metalu jako takového. Kapela si na nic nehraje, člověk má opravdu hroznou chuť otevřít pivo a jít si zatančit do opuštěné márnice. Zvuk je náležitě syrový, opředený pavučinami, vokalista zajisté každý den snídá hřebíky. Poláky bych hrozně rád viděl v malém klubu, kde budou všichni totálně namol a noc se bude blížit k půlnoci. Stejně jako každému chlapovi ze staré školy, se mi líbí krásný holky a při poslechu téhle desky budou určitě tančit na stole. Album má drive, sílu, temnou energii, potřebnou pro klasické rituály. Nehledejte zde originalitu, ale pokud fandíte black thrash death metalovým tradicím, zklamáni rozhodně nebudete. Osobně je mi podobná hudba, zahraná od srdce a s nadšením milejší, než nekonečná umělá preludia některých současných hvězd. Z opuštěné márnice je cítit hrozný smrad. Tentokrát to ale nejsou rozkládající se těla, ale spíše štiplavý zápach síry. Jsem tu správně, večírek zrovna začíná. Skvěle!

WITCHFUCK is blasphemed in the style of old bands like AURA NOIR, WITCHMASTER, DESASTER, VENOM, HELLHAMMER, CELTIC FROST, NIFELHEIM, DEATHHAMMER, ANTICHRIST, HELLGRINGER . Také někdy máte pocit, že balancujete na ostré hraně? Spadnete na jednu stranu a rozpustíte se v kyselině a na druhé vás zase rozsekají ostré nože. Je krásné mít na výběr, ale když se potom vzbudíte z noční můry a nevíte, co je a co není pravda, jste zmatení. V podobných chvílích si potřebuji dát do žil dobrou hudbu. Něco temného, mocného, zničujícího. Dnes v noci jsme zvolil desku ruských maniaků HORROR GOD.
A vůbec mi nevadilo, že mě jejich hudba zcela pohltila, rozmělnila na prach a nakonec rozprášila za hřbitovní zdí. Kapela si mě získala mocným zvukem, ale hlavně náladami, pochmurnými, záhadnými, zastřenými krví.
Stále dokola se rodíme a umíráme a dost často zapomínáme na to, že náš čas je přesně vyměřený. Zároveň jsme jen zrnko písku ve velkém vesmíru. Při poslechu "Cursed Seeds" mám podobné pocity, zvláštní, temné, zahalené ve tmě. V některých momentech kapela rozvíjí dřívější myšlenky kolegů GORGUTS, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, ULCERATE, REPLIKANT, AUGURY, PHOBOCOSM. Rusové mi ale přijdou přeci jen přívětivější, přehlednější a tím pádem se i velmi dobře poslouchají. Technika zde není samoúčelná, nejedná se o dnes tolik časté exhibice beze smyslu a řádu, ale o motivy s jasným cílem - všechno zabít a zničit. HORROR GOD jsou samozřejmě kapelou pro posluchače s bohatou fantazií a představivostí. Pravděpodobně nebudou okupovat přední místa v žebříčcích lesklých metalových časopisů. Hudba je ale jenom jedna a i když je "Cursed Seeds" nahrávkou z roku 2019, tak ji doporučuji vyzkoušet všem, kteří se rádi proplétají černými labyrinty. Vždyť balancovat na hraně je někdy tak napínavé, vzrušující. A tahle nahrávka si rozhodně zaslouží pozornost. Má v sobě totiž přesně ten ostrý feeling, který mám u kapel podobného typu tolik rád. Smrt!

Do you ever feel like you´re balancing on a sharp edge? You will fall on one side and dissolve in the acid and on the other side you will be cut by sharp knives. It's nice to have a choice, but then when you wake up from the nightmare and don't know what is and isn't reality, you are confused. At similar times, I need to put good music into my veins. Something dark, powerful, destructive. Tonight I chose the record of Russian maniacs HORROR GOD.
And I didn't mind at all that their music completely engulfed me, smashed me to dust, and finally scattered me behind the cemetery wall. The band won me over with a powerful sound but mainly with modos, gloomy, mysterious, clouded blood.
We are constantly born and dying and quite often we forget that our time is precisely measured. At the same time, we are just a grain of sand in a large universe. Listening to “Cursed Seeds” I have similar feelings, strange, dark, shrouded indarkness. At some point, the band develops the earlier ideas of colleagues GORGUTS, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, ULCERATE, REPLIKANT, AUGURY, PHOBOCOSM. But these Russians come to me more friendly, clearer and therefore they listen very well. The technique is not an end in itself, it is not a frequent exhibition without meaning and order. This is a motive with a clear goal - to kill and destroy everything. HORROR GOD are, of course, a band for listeners with a rich imagination. They probably won't occupy the top positions in the charts of shiny metal magazines. But there is only one music and even though “Cursed Seeds” is a record from 2019, I recommend trying it on everyone who likes to intertwine with black labyrinths. After all, balancing on the edge is sometimes so exciting. And this album definitely deserves attention. It has exactly the sharp feeling that I like so much for bands of a similar type. Death!

Kolem již taje sníh. Dívám se přes poslední rampouch do kraje. Odráží se v něm probouzející, přesto stále studená příroda. Zahlédnu červenou barvu. Ano, je to krev, ze sněhu vylezla mrtvá těla těch, kteří zimu nepřežili. Mám rád chladný severský vítr, s chutí se toulám samotou lesa. Poslouchám u toho novou desku finských melodických death metalistů WOLFHEART.
Mám rád kapely, které příliš neuhýbají ze svého směru, mají typický zvuk i rukopis. Finské bardy si s sebou beru rád a často na své toulky krajinou. U cesty leží další tělo. Ještě je zmrzlé, přesto se v něm kroutí červi. Smrt a život, koloběh, který nelze zastavit. Přemýšlím, nasávám chladnou atmosféru desky. Jsem spokojen, mimo tenhle svět, na jiskřivých vlnách melodií.
Melodický death metal už dávno moc neposlouchám, u WOLFHEART ale udělám vždy výjimku. Kapela totiž umí zasáhnout moji mysl, převést mě přes řeku smrti, do království temnoty a mrazu. Líbí se mi pochmurné nálady, křišťálový zvuk, mocný vokál. Netřeba hledat podobnosti s jinými, Finové sice nepřináší vůbec nic nového, ale když ono se album tak dobře poslouchá. Nejdříve plyne kolem, jako poklidná voda, ale po několika dalších posleších se změní v divokou horskou bystřinu. Bublá a vaří se, máte chuť se utopit, skočit do hlubiny a nechat se unášet jednotlivými motivy. Z skladeb je navíc cítit pověstná severská melancholie, načerpaná pravděpodobně na podobných cestách, po kterých chodím i já. Krása a smutek, tající sníh, síla a energie, vlastně nic dalšího ani nepotřebuji. Jsem spokojený, usmívám se, užívám si jednotlivé pasáže. "Skull Soldiers" se dle mého neskutečně povedlo. Není jen dobrým řemeslem, ale i dílem po okraj napěchovaným emocemi. Poselství ledu a chladu! Ohlodané kosti, smutek a beznaděj. Melodický death metal, nasáklý mrazivou mlhou!

I like bands that don't deviate too much from their direction, they have a typical sound and handwriting. I like to take Finnish bards with me and often take my wanderings through the countryside. Another body lies by the road. It is still frozen, yet worms are swirling in it. Death and life, a cycle that cannot be stopped. I think, I suck in the cool atmosphere of the record. I am satisfied, outside of this world, with the sparkling waves of melodies.
I haven't listened to melodic death metal a long time ago, but I always make an exception with WOLFHEART. The band can hit my mind, take me across the river of death, into the kingdom of darkness and frost. I like gloomy moods, crystal sound, powerful vocals. No need to look for similarities with others, the Finns do not bring anything new at all, but when the album listens so well. At first, it flows around, like calm water, but after a few more hearings it turns into a wild mountain stream. It bubbles and boils, you feel like drowning, jumping into the depths and getting carried away by individual motives. In addition, you can feel the famous Nordic melancholy from the songs, probably drawn on similar paths that I also follow. Beauty and sadness, melting snow, strength and energy, I don't really need anything else. I am satisfied, I smile, I enjoy the individual passages. "Skull Soldiers" was incredibly successful in my opinion. It is not only a good craft but also a work full of emotions. A message of ice and cold! Gnawed bones, sadness and hopelessness. Melodic death metal, soaked in freezing fog!
Stále mám v sobě chuť objevovat nové kapely. Fascinuje mě stav mysli, kdy znám jenom jméno a název desky. Nahrávku si pustím, nic nikde dopředu nečtu a nechám ji na sebe působit. Takhle jsem to udělal i s australskými death metalisty TZUN TZU. Ihned se na mě vyhrnul z přehrávače technický smrtící kov, založený na brutalitě a chaosu. Surová, syrová hudba, která mě, aniž bych věděl, přenesla jako nějaká mantra daleko na východ. Byl jsem potom hodně překvapený, že kapela o Japonsku a Číně opravdu zpívá.
Hovořila ke mě nejdřív hudba. Připomínala mi živoucí organismus neznámého původu, ze kterého jde strach. Troufám si tvrdit, že některé pasáže jsou natolik složité, že zůstane jejich krása mnohým ukrytá. Nevadí, cesta i styl kapely byl nastaven dle mého správně. Nemohou hrát všichni stejně, no nemám pravdu? A TZUN TZU jsou rozhodně originálním tělesem.
Je prostým faktem, že "The Forbidden City" vyžaduje soustředěný a hlubší poslech, což nevím, jestli v dnešní uspěchané době ocení širší publikum. Chce si to otevřít booklet, mít dobrou aparaturu a teprve potom vyniknou jednotlivé nuance. Mnozí nebudou vědět, co si s deskou počít, kam ji zařadit, budou zmatení. Je právě pět hodin ráno a jediné, co mě drží po probděné noci na nohou, tak je hudba. Novinku TZUN TZU si užívám, mám totiž pocit, že mě přenesla do zcela jiných dimenzí, než bývá většinou obvyklé. Kapela se sice občas nevyhne hlušším místům nebo mi to tak alespoň připadá, ale jako celek rozhodně nezklame. Techniky, progrese, je někdy příliš, ale zase na druhou stranu, jak se to vezme. Australané i přes složitost, s jakou hrají, neztratili feeling a drive. Zároveň mi deska připadá i svým způsobem temná, zákeřná. Kapelu budu rozhodně sledovat i do budoucna. Zjistil jsem totiž, že i přes počáteční ostýchavost se na každou další skladbu těším. Je pro mě ostrým hřebem, který mi někdo postupně zatlouká do hlavy. Dostane se mi až do mozku a začne tam hnít. Nepřipomíná vám to jeden druh japonského mučení? Nedivte se, technický brutální death metal v podání TZUN TZU je totiž přesně takový. Masakr!

I still feel like discovering new bands. I am fascinated by the state of mind where I only know the name and title of the album. I play the recording, I don't read anything in advance and let it affect me. This is how I did it with Australian death medalists TZUN TZU. Immediately, a technical deadly metal came to me from the player, based on brutality and chaos. Raw music that (without my knowledge) carried me away like a mantra far to the East. Then I was very surprised that the band really sings about Japan and China.
The music spoke to me first. It reminded me of a living organism of unknown origin that fears. I dare say that some passages are so complicated that their beauty remains hidden from many. It doesn't matter, the way and style of the band was set correctly in my opinion. They can't all play the same, can they? And TZUN TZU are definitely an original body.
It's a simple fact that “The Forbidden City” requires focused and deeper listening, which I don´t know if it's appreciated by a wider audience in today´s hectic time. You need to open the booklet, have good equipment and only then will the individual nuances stand out. Many will not know what to expect from the album, where to place it, they will be confused. It's just five o'clock in the morning and the only thing that keeps me on my feet after a sleepless night is music. I enjoy the new TZUN TZU, because I feel that it has taken me to completely different dimensions that are usually usual. The band sometimes doesn't avoid the worse places, or so it seems to me. But as a whole it will definitely not disappoint you. Techniques, progression - it might sometimes be too much. But again on the other hand how to take it. The Australians, despite the complexity with which they play, have not lost their feeling and drive. At the same time, the record also seems dark, insidious in a way. I will definitely watch the band in the future. I found out that despite the initial shyness, I'm looking forward to every other song. It is a sharp nail for me which someone gradually beats into my head. It gets into my brain and starts to rot there. Doesn't that remind you of one kind of Japanese torture? Don´t be surprised, technical brutal death metal performed by TZUN TZU is exactly like that. Massacre!
Ave DEIQUISITOR! I have been listening to your new album „Humanoid“ for some time now and I still discover something new in it, some new pieces of darkness. I have to say that I thought that your album will be great but this completely killed me. The album is great. How are your reactions from your fans and what about reviews?
Hail Jakub ! Thomas fro Deiquisitor here. Thanks for the kind words. The reactions to this album has been really great so far, we are also very satisfied with the production on this one. The sound is very close to how we sound in our rehearsalroom, and that was our plan. The production on our 2 previous releases were great, but it didn't really sound like us.
Have you played your new songs live already? How do they work with fans? Do you have any potential hit? For me it would be probably „Autonomous Warfare“.
I think „Empyrean lifeform“ is the only one of them we have played live, we were supposed to play a gig in Copenhagen i January this year with all the new tracks, but then everything closed down. I guess it's the same situation in nost countries. Hopefully things will get back to normal soon. I don't know which of the songs that could be like a kind of „hit“ song, everyone we have talked with about it, has different favorites, and that's great I think. My personal favorite is probably „Empyrean lifeform“.
How did you compose new material for „Humanoid“? How DEIQUISITOR compose?
Well, we have an untraditional way of composing songs. In most other bands the guitarist makes the riffs and composition, and then dictates the drummer how to play to these riffs. We do it the other way around, Henriks makes some drumpatterns with fills and everything which we record as we rehearse, and then afterwards I sit back at home listen closely to them, and get inspired to what kind of riffs that would fit the drums. Sometimes I can almost hear the notes for the riffs by listening to the fills. I guess that's because we have been making music together for so many years.
Who is the author of your lyrics? What are your lyrics about and where do you find inspiration?
On our previous album Henrik and Daniel made the lyrics for one song each, on this new one Henrik and I have made 3 each, I made the lyrics on side A, and Henrik the lyrics on side B. On the next one all 3 of us has contributed with lyrics. I think this is really great, it adds so much more diversity to the lyrics. And it is not possible for me to write interesting lyrics in the same speed as we compose tracks. We are very productive, in fact, we almost already have the tracks ready for the next one.
Who is the author of the cover or „Humanoid“? I really like this person´s work. How did you even chose the theme of the cover?
We always use the artwork of my brother M.F.Jorg on our full-length releases, and then on most of our promos and EP's, it is our close and old friend Brian H. We think their artwork fits our music perfectly, and in a way it is like it links the releases together when the artwork is recognizable. The both have very unique panting/drawing styles, but my brothers style is much more detailed and therfore more suitable for an LP cover.
The sound of the album is really great. It is dark, cold and sharp at the same time. In what studio did you recorded? Were you able to have any comments during the recording and at the final sound and mastering?
As I mentioned, we are very satisfied with the production on this one. This time we used a small studio in Copenhagen called No Masters Voice studio, and Marcus F.L. was the producer. It was really great to work with Marcus, a really cool guy, and very good at listening to how the bands want it to be. A few months before recording „Humanoid“, we recorded the 2 tracks for our EP „Religiously endorsed masochism“ in our own studio, and had a guy called Jesper Hviid to mix and master them. This EP is very brutal and dirty sounding compared to the other one. But it is like an ongoing process for us, to find the ideal sound for Deiquisitor. In order to find that sound, you'll have to experiment a lot with different ways of recording and mixing.
You guys play the classic, typical old death metal. You have never played anything else, you are an “orthodox” band. Personally, that is one of the reasons why I like your music. But have you ever thought about changing it a little bit? Just to change things up so the work of DEIQUISITOR is different?
We formed Deiquisitor back in 2013, before that we have been playing what you can describe as occult black warmetal for like 20 years, that was in our former band Blodfest and before that Solhverv. You can find all of the Blodfest releases in the Order of the Nonagram bandcamp site. That band was Henrik, my brother Martin and myself. But when my brother left the band to focus on his paintings an experimental electronic music, Henrik and I felt that we wanted to return to our deathmetal roots from the early 90's. And then we recruited Daniel who had been a close friend of ours for many years. His former band was called Purification Kommando, and played brutal war metal. We don't consider ourselves as being orthodox, we just find our inspiration in the bands we admired so much back in the early 90's, and create the music that feels natural for us. We don't have any plans of changing our style in any way, but we feel that we are developing our music a bit with every new release we make.
On concerts in the Czech Republic I often hear that there is not enough people going on concerts nowadays. I would like to know how is it in Denmark. For us you are a big country with a lot of bands and promoters. A lot of bands go to your country to play when they are on a tour. Do people go on death metal concerts in Denmark? And do you prefer playing in a small club or on big festivals?
Denmark is actually a small country compared to most other in Europe, but we do have a very strong metal scene, with a lot of great bands. Maybe it is because of our Viking genes that we are so much into the more violent forms of music. Regarding concerts, I think it is pretty much same all over Europe, the audience could be bigger but those who attend to the concerts are often very dedicated to this kind of music, and playing your music live is always a great experience. We definitely prefer to play in smaller clubs and at underground festivals, thats where you meet the people who really enjoys this kind of music. The bigger festivals are more for people that not necessarily loves this kind of music, but attends just for the party.
Nowadays, there is a lot of young bands who start to play “old school death metal”. Most of them are not very good, but there are some good bands who realize what is this music about. Do you have any favourite band which would be able to make those “good old days” alive again?
There's a lot of great danish bands that are very true to the „values“ of death metal as it was done back in the old days. I could mention bands like Undergang, Taphos, Phrenelith and Chaotian, all great bands and friends of ours.
People download music online in these days and they only use its digital form. How do you as a musician feel about this issue?
Well......it is impossible to stop people from doing that, I just hope that when they find a band that they really like, they will support the band by buying the releases. In that way it is ok to download some music, there are so many bands nowadays, and you can't afford to buy everything that comes out. So if you find a band you really like, you would want their music in good quality, with cover, lyrics and everything. Not as a lousy 128 kbps Mp3 file.
Are there any albums which have caught your attention recently?
That depends on what you mean by recently, when great old bands like Suffocation and Immolation releases something, it should capture anyones attention. But personaly, I am a great fan of Portal from Australia, and I am really looking forward to hear new stuff from them. Such a unique band.
Do you know and listen any Czech bands?
I don't really know any other Czech bands than Kaosquad who we played some gigs with when we visited Czech Rep. A really great live band, intense and brutal stuff and some cool guys. If there are any other Czech band you could recommend, please let me know. It would be great to hear.
What are DEIQUISITOR ´s plans for the next few months?
Hopefully things will get back to normal, and we will be able to play some live koncerts again,visiting some other countries, maybe Czech republic, that was a great experience for us. Besides that we will probably start recording songs for our next release soon.
