Interview with death metal band from Colombia - OSSUARY.

Ave OSSUARY! Greetings to the Colombian underground. I hope everything is fine with you. It should be because this year you have released a fourth full-length album in your band's career. I have to admit it has literally blown my mind. It is dark, energic and as if it cuts by the sharp edge of the knife. I can hear from the record you did a really good job and you added a big portion of the talent, too. How do you perceive the new album in comparison to the previous one? Where did you want to move and in what are these two records different?

Greetings brothers, I am Brahiam Valencia, bassist and vocalist of Ossuary. Before starting with the dynamics of the questions and answers, I would like to thank you for the interview. Having done this, I would like to say that both albums are distant from each other, clearly I am not stating it in a chronological sense. First of all, Stellar Annihilation is a more mature album, both in theme and instrumental composition. To exemplify this, just read some of the lyrics from Addicted to Human Flesh, and compare it with any of the new album, you will notice that the influence is already another. We have tried to make this more serious.

Consider that both pieces are thought of from two very different perspectives. Today Osario moves in other orbits, perhaps a little more delirious that, without leaving the flesh, has settled on a stellar path.


“Stellar Annihilation“ includes all attributes of good death metal. For me personally, it represents the record, which I really like to listen to. How did you produce it? How look the writing process of new material in the case of OSSUARY?

For this, Juan Esteban and I worked on the musical composition for a few months. We tried to make the music follow the classic style of good death metal, therefore, the guitars and bass remain faithful to this genre. Julián, our drummer, was in charge of adding the touch to the percussion. Regarding the lyrics, there is the intention that they be thematic, that their development during the album leaves in each piece fragments of a single story compacted in the eleven songs. There is a common thread that invites listeners to immerse themselves in the plot, while the riffs complement the hallucination of such a trip... With that intention, Stellar has been written.

I found out that Juan Esteban Sánchez is signed under the mix and mastering of the new record. I have to confirm that the sound is literally killing. It still makes me add volume to the player. Juan has created a sound that is cruel, raw and at the same time dark and organic. How went the work with him and why did you choose him? In which studio did you record it? How did the recording process look like?

Juan Esteban is the leader and founder of Ossuary, also a very good producer who has left his mark on this piece, both in the composition and execution of the guitars, and in everything related to production. Previous albums have been mixed and mastered in other studios, and with other engineers. But Juan has been in charge of this album, who in his Studio 440 hz, has injected rawness and brutality into each of the songs. Exactly what we had thought for this work, since, although the previous productions are forceful, the sound of the drums seemed to be reduced to computerized programming, losing all organic traces.

The recording process was carried out in a pleasant way, each of us recorded our lines in confidence. First there were the drums, then the guitars, basses, and finally the voices. We tried to ensure that the work was articulated, always thinking about the coherence of the arrangements and the production intention led by Juan Esteban.


An important part and a kind of extra bonus for fans today is the physical CD. You released the new album at CD through Awakening Records, and it has a dark cover art. Who is the author? Do I explain well the picture when I would think it is a scary cthulhu monster? How did you choose the motif and how does it relate to the music at the record?

All our works have been published physically, we consider it essential. The author of the cover is a Colombian illustrator named Carlos Jacome. He has been in charge of almost all of our art, from Buried, launched in 2019, to the present.

As for the second question, it is an interpretation that is given explicitly, since the reading of art does not leave much to speculate when looking at the main spectrum. Without a doubt, he is that character that Mr. Lovecraft has left behind. However, when linked to the theme of the songs, it is possible to find that this Cthulhu is never named, but rather he represents in himself that extraterrestrial species that with its demonic tentacles penetrate the bowels of everything organic on planet Earth. The link between the cover and the lyrics is found there, since that demon is the one who embodies all the cruelty of the foreigners who colonize through terror the physical and spiritual areas in which the human being circulates, who, dejected by his inferiority, surrenders absolutely to the irrational luck of the gods. The entire context of the main art can account for this.

I wonder what the lyrics on the new album "Stellar Annihilation" are about. Who is the author and where is his inspiration?

I have composed the lyrics. Interestingly, the influence can be traced in some readings to Sumerian mythology. Lovecraft and Clark Ashton Smith have also been a starting point for thinking about certain nuances. But let's say that the greatest influence is produced by a dialectical perspective that is eclectically mixed with ufological stories and interpretations of these on mythology, especially Sumeria, as I already said, where the image of man is projected onto the divine, in this case the gods or demons, who as archetypes establish an anthropological ideal.


For over thirty years and I still go to Colombia for music with certainty. I think we have a similar nature and taste when it comes to metal. I like your bands a lot and I monitor your scene carefully. Maybe I envy you a little, because we only have a few death metal bands that are worth it. How do you explain that death metal are doing so well in your country? How do you perceive your scene, fans, labels?

It is difficult to affirm that there is success for Colombian death metal bands, at least a success that is measured under econometric parameters (I am aware that this condition is common in almost all countries in the world, but I would like to emphasize on this side of the planet) .

Here, most bands have been established in conditions of scarcity and violence, making it difficult to access those cultural assets, such as a recording studio, or even an instrument (of course, as difficult as it was a couple of decades ago). Fans of Ossuary and death metal in general, understand the vicissitudes that the passion for this genre implies, as do the sister bands that, despite the difficulty of cultivating and solidifying a musical work, remain standing, due to that strong character that owns the undergraun lover. And that is where the efforts of labels, magazines and other initiatives, most of them independent, contribute to the growth of death metal and other metal subgenres. I consider that that is what has strengthened Colombian metal. Despite the difficulty, it continues to expand, and at the same time creates an important artistic repertoire for metal.

You play devastating death metal influenced by, among other things, the American school. Today, the band can't avoid comparisons, but I would like to know how the idea to start OSSUARY was born, who was and is your metal idol? Where do you want to move your band? Are you attracted to large foreign festivals, for example, are you willing to go on tour with a more famous band?

Our influence from the beginning, and I think until now, has been American death metal, as you have pointed out, however, old school European bands have also been a tremendous frame of reference for Ossuary. In a small list we could name the following: Morbid Angel, Obituary, Death, Malevolent Creation, Deicide, Pungent stench, Asphyx, Death, Pestilence, Cannibal Corpse, Sinister, Grave, Entombed, Unleashed, Nocturnus, Demilich... Among others.

To complement this answer, I would like to quote verbatim what Juan Esteban thinks about it, since he has the authority to do so as he is a founding member of Ossuary. (I arrived in the promotion of the second album, Buried and Forggoten from 2019). Juanes says:

The idea of ​​forming the band was mainly due to the found taste towards metal and mainly for the subgenre of death metal and for its proposals for dark bands with a classic sound. Having several of these influences, it was decided to form a band with several friends from that time, around 2012, and with the passion to perform songs that caught our attention and had marked us. It was at that moment that the band was born.

Where we hope one day to be able to share the stage with some of them, whether outside or inside our country.

When I started my website six years ago, I had a vision that I would try to support bands that are not so much popular, or they are lost in underground. To let the world knows about them. I think I'm doing quite well, at least according to the responses. How do you approach the promotion of your music? Do you rely upon the label or do you send the CDs for various reviews by yourself? For example, I buy albums that I really enjoy. What about you? Are you also fans who often support your colleagues? Do you go to concerts?

Greetings friends and DEADLY STORM ZINE. I am Juan Esteban Sánchez, Guitarist and Founder of Ossuary.

Well, the promotion of our band has been well reflected through the record label we are working with: Awakening Records from China, they have helped us a lot in the distribution of physical material, distributing it throughout almost the entire planet; In short, they have contact with several labels, and we have seen this reflected in new followers who are coming to our pages.

Also through the networks we have reached different media that have given us support with interviews and reviews of the albums that help make the band a little better known.

And on our part, of course we seek to support bands of friends, buying their material and distributing it. We have a good collection of material, mainly from national bands. And we also try to attend as many events as possible to support many bands in our region.


On the one hand, today the new band has a lot of opportunities to make themselves more known, but on the other hand, there are a huge number of groups and the fans are getting lost in this big metal sea. A lot of people just download mp3s from the internet and instead of to visit the concert they prefer to spit poisonous saliva on Facebook. How do modern technologies affect you as OSSUARY? What do you think about downloading music, google metalists, streaming music, etc.?

What I think about new technology, regarding music, is that it can be a very good tool, which allows the band to be heard and known in any corner of the world with great ease. There are different digital monetization platforms that can be an income for the band, although it is not in a large amount as it could be by selling physical material. But if this option is well explored, technology can be positive for musical projects.

Controversies on the networks abound, and death metal is not immune from that. I consider that there are well-founded criticisms, others are just nonsense.


I like to ask the musicians what death metal means to them. How would they define it, whether it is more the philosophy and lifestyle thing for them or "just" relaxation? What does it mean for you? How do you perceive and experience it?

Death metal is more like a way of life, in our case it is like a form of relationship that causes when listening to it, also when it comes to interpreting it it is the way of letting off steam and giving everything with the instrument, letting the darkest things flow. that lives inside. It is also a door to get out of the routine. We really enjoy death metal.

Finally, a classic but important question. What is OSSUARY planning in the upcoming months? Where can we see you at the stage and when will you visit Europe?

At the moment we will be playing in Colombia in promotional concerts for the band's new album. We also hope to soon start recording a new official video, corresponding to one of the Stellar songs. In addition, we are currently recording a reissue of our first album, A Morbid Lust for Death.

As for concerts, we are hoping to finalize a proposal to visit Mexico, and we are looking forward to a proposal to travel to Europe.

¡Ave OSSUARIO! Saludos al underground colombiano. Espero que todo esté bien con ustedes. Debería estarlo porque este año habéis lanzado el cuarto álbum de larga duración en la carrera de vuestra banda. Tengo que admitir que literalmente me ha volado la cabeza. Es oscuro, enérgico y como si cortara por el filo de la navaja. Puedo escuchar en el disco que habéis hecho un trabajo realmente bueno y que además habéis añadido una gran parte de talento. ¿Cómo percibes el nuevo álbum en comparación con el anterior? ¿Hacia dónde queríais moveros y en qué se diferencian estos dos discos?

Un saludo hermanos, soy Brahiam Valencia, bajista y vocalista de Ossuary. Antes de iniciar con la dinámica de las preguntas y las respuestas, me gustaría agradecer por la entrevista. Ya hecho esto, quisiese decir que ambos discos son distantes el uno del otro, claramente no estoy declarándolo en un sentido cronológico. En primer lugar, el Stellar Annihilation es un disco más maduro, tanto en temática como en composición instrumental, para ejemplificarlo basta con leer alguna de las letras de Addicted to Human Flesh, y compararla con cualquiera del nuevo álbum, se notará que la influencia ya es otra. Hemos tratado de que esto sea más serio.

Considero que ambas piezas son pensadas desde dos perspectivas muy diferentes. Hoy Ossuary se mueve en otras orbitas, quizás un poco más delirantes que, sin dejar la carne, se ha instaurado en un camino estelar.


"Stellar Annihilation" incluye todos los atributos del buen death metal. Para mí, personalmente, representa el disco que más me gusta escuchar. ¿Cómo lo habéis producido? ¿Cómo es el proceso de composición de nuevo material en el caso de OSSUARY?

Para esto, Juan Esteban y yo trabajamos en la composición musical durante algunos meses. Procuramos que la música siguiese el estilo clásico del buen death metal, por tanto, las guitarras y el bajo siguen fieles a este género. Julián, nuestro baterista, se encargó de ponerle el toque a la percusión. Respecto a las letras, hay la intención de que sean temáticas, que su desarrollo durante el disco vaya dejando en cada pieza fragmentos de una sola historia compactada en las once canciones. Existe un hilo conductor que invita a los oyentes a sumergirse en la trama, mientras que los riffs complementan el alucinar de tal viaje… Con esa intención se ha escrito el Stellar.

He descubierto que Juan Esteban Sánchez firma bajo la mezcla y masterización del nuevo disco. Tengo que confirmar que el sonido es literalmente matador. Todavía me hace añadir volumen al reproductor. Juan ha creado un sonido cruel, crudo y a la vez oscuro y orgánico. ¿Cómo fue el trabajo con él y por qué lo elegisteis? ¿En qué estudio lo grabasteis? ¿Cómo fue el proceso de grabación?

Juan Esteban es el líder y fundador de Ossuary, además un muy buen productor que ha dejado su impronta en esta pieza, tanto en la composición y ejecución de las guitarras, como en todo lo que refiere a producción. Los discos anteriores se han mezclado y masterizado en otros estudios, y con otros ingenieros. Pero de este disco se ha encargado Juan, quien en su Studio 440 hz, ha inyectado de crudeza y brutalidad cada una de las canciones. Justo lo que habíamos pensado para este trabajo, ya que, si bien las producciones anteriores son contundentes, el sonido de las baterías parecía reducirse a una programación computarizada, perdiendo todo rastro orgánico.

El proceso de grabación se llevó de un modo ameno, cada uno de nosotros grabó sus líneas en confianza. Primero fueron las baterías, posteriormente las guitarras, bajos, y por ultimo las voces. Tratamos de que el trabajo estuviese articulado, siempre pensando en la coherencia de los arreglos y la intención de producción liderada por Juan Esteban.


Una parte importante y una especie de extra para los fans de hoy en día es el CD físico. Habéis editado el nuevo álbum en CD a través de Awakening Records, y tiene un arte de portada oscuro. ¿Quién es el autor? ¿Explico bien la imagen cuando pensaría que se trata de un terrorífico monstruo de Cthulhu? ¿Cómo elegisteis el motivo y qué relación tiene con la música del disco?

Todos nuestros trabajos han salido en físico, lo consideramos fundamental. El autor de la portada, es un ilustrador colombiano llamado Carlos Jacome, él se ha encargado de casi todas nuestras artes, desde el Buried, lanzado en el 2019, hasta el presente.

En cuanto a la segunda pregunta, es una interpretación que se da de modo explícito, pues la lectura del arte no deja mucho por especular cuando se ve al espectro principal. Sin duda es ese personaje que el señor Lovecraft ha legado. Sin embargo, cuando se enlaza con la temática de las canciones, es posible hallar que este Cthulhu nunca es nombrado, sino que él representa en sí mismo aquella especie extraterrestre que con sus tentáculos demoniacos penetran las entrañas de todo lo orgánico del planeta tierra. El enlace entre portada y letras se encuentra ahí, pues ese demonio es quien encarna toda la crueldad de los extranjeros que colonizan mediante el terror las parcelas físicas y espirituales en las que circula el ser humano, quien abatido por su inferioridad se entrega absolutamente a la suerte irracional de los dioses. De ello, puede dar cuenta todo el contexto del arte principal.

Me pregunto de qué tratan las letras del nuevo álbum "Aniquilación estelar". Quién es el autor y dónde está su inspiración?

Las letras las he compuesto yo. Curiosamente, la influencia se puede rastrear en algunas lecturas a la mitología Sumeria. Lovecraft y Clark Ashton Smith, también han sido un punto de partida para pensar ciertos matices. Pero digamos que el mayor influjo se produce por una perspectiva dialéctica que, eclécticamente se mezcla con relatos ufológicos e interpretaciones de estos sobre la mitología, en especial la Sumeria, como ya dije, donde la imagen del hombre se proyecta sobre lo divino, en este caso los dioses o los demonios, que cómo arquetipos establecen un ideal antropológico.


Hace más de treinta años y sigo yendo a Colombia por música con seguridad. Creo que tenemos una naturaleza y gustos similares cuando se trata de metal. Me gustan mucho sus bandas y sigo con atención su escena. Tal vez los envidio un poco, porque solo tenemos unas pocas bandas de death metal que valen la pena. ¿Cómo explicas que el death metal vaya tan bien en tu país? ¿Cómo percibís vuestra escena, los fans, las discográficas?

Es difícil afirmar que hay éxito para las bandas de death metal colombianas, al menos un éxito que se mida bajo parámetros econométricos (soy consciente de que esta condición es común en casi todos los países del mundo, pero quisiera enfatizar en este lado del planeta).

Acá la mayoría de bandas se han erigido en condiciones de escases y violencia, por lo que es difícil acceder a esos bienes culturales, como un estudio de grabación, incluso un instrumento (claro, tan difícil como hace un par de décadas atrás). Los fans de Ossuary y del death metal en general, comprenden las vicisitudes que implica la pasión por este género, al igual que las bandas hermanas que pese a la dificultad de cultivar y solidificar un trabajo musical, siguen en pie, por ese carácter fuerte que posee el amante del undergraun. Y ahí es donde se imbrica el esfuerzo de los sellos, revistas y otras iniciativas, la mayoría independientes, que aportan al crecimiento del death metal y otros subgéneros del metal. Considero que eso es lo que ha fortificado el metal colombiano. A pesar de lo difícil, se sigue expandiendo, y a su vez urde un repertorio artístico importante para el metal.

Tocáis un death metal devastador influenciado, entre otras cosas, por la escuela americana. Hoy en día, la banda no puede evitar las comparaciones, pero me gustaría saber cómo nació la idea de fundar OSSUARY, ¿quién era y es vuestro ídolo metalero? ¿Hacia dónde quieres llevar tu banda? ¿Os atraen los grandes festivales extranjeros, por ejemplo, estáis dispuestos a ir de gira con una banda más famosa?

Nuestra influencia desde el principio, y creo que hasta ahora, ha sido el death metal americano, como bien lo ha señalado, no obstante, bandas de la vieja escuela europea, tambien han sido un marco de referencia tremendo para Ossuary. En una pequeña lista podriamos nombrar las siguientes: Morbid Angel, Obituary, Death, Malevolent Creation, Deicide, Pungent stench, Asphyx, Death, Pestilence, Cannibal Corpse, Sinister, Grave, Entombed, Unleashed, Nocturnus, Demilich… Entre otras.

Para complementar la presente respuesta, me gustaría citar textualmente lo que piensa Juan Esteban al respecto, ya que él tiene la autoridad para hacerlo por ser miembro fundador de Ossuary. (Yo llegue en la promoción del sengundo disco, el Buried and Forggoten del 2019). Dice Juanes:

La idea de formar la banda fue principalmente por el gusto encontrado hacia el metal y principalmente por el sub genero del death metal y por sus propuestas de bandas oscuras y con un sonido clásico. Teniendo varias de estas influencias, se decide formar una banda junto a varios amigos de ese tiempo, alrededor del año 2012, y con la pasión de interpretar canciones que más nos llamaban la atención y nos habían marcado. En ese momento fue que se le dio nacimiento a la banda.

Donde esperamos algún dia poder llegar a compartir escenario con alguna de ellas, ya sea fuera o dentro de nuestro país.

Cuando empecé mi sitio web hace seis años, tuve la visión de que intentaría apoyar a bandas que no son tan populares, o que están perdidas en el underground. Que el mundo los conociera. Creo que lo estoy haciendo bastante bien, al menos según las respuestas. ¿Cómo enfocas la promoción de tu música? ¿Confía en la discográfica o envía usted mismo los CD para que los revisen? Por ejemplo, yo compro discos que realmente me gustan. ¿Y usted? ¿También son fans y apoyan a menudo a sus colegas? ¿Va a conciertos?

Bueno la promoción de nuestra banda se ha visto bien reflejada mediante el sello discográfico con el que estamos trabajando: Awakening Records de China, nos han ayudado mucho en la distribución de material físico, distribuyéndolo por casi todo el planeta; en suma, tienen contacto con varios sellos, y esto lo hemos visto reflejando en seguidores nuevos que van llegando a nuestras páginas.

Y de parte de nosotros, por supuesto buscamos apoyar a bandas de amigos, comprando su material y haciendo su distribución. Contamos con una buena colección de material, principalmente de bandas nacionales. Y también tratamos de asistir a la mayoría de eventos que sean posibles para brindar apoyo a muchas bandas de nuestra región.


Por un lado, hoy en día las nuevas bandas tienen muchas oportunidades de darse a conocer, pero por otro, hay un gran número de grupos y los fans se están perdiendo en este gran mar de metal. Mucha gente se limita a descargarse mp3 de internet y en lugar de ir al concierto prefiere escupir saliva venenosa en Facebook. ¿Cómo os afectan las tecnologías modernas como OSSUARY? ¿Qué opinas de la descarga de música, google metaleros, streaming de música, etc.?

Lo que opino de la nueva tecnología, referente a la música, es que puede ser una muy buena herramienta, lo cual permite que la banda pueda llegar a ser escuchada y conocida en cualquier rincón del mundo con buena facilidad. Hay diferentes plataformas de monetización digital que puede ser un ingreso para la banda, aunque no es en gran cantidad como podría ser vendiendo material físico. Pero bien explorada esta opción, puede llegar a ser positiva la tecnología para los proyectos musicales.

Las polémicas en las redes pululan, y el death metal no se salva de eso. Considero que hay críticas fundamentadas, otras son solo niñerías.


Me gusta preguntar a los músicos qué significa para ellos el death metal. ¿Cómo lo definirían, si para ellos es más bien filosofía y estilo de vida o "sólo" relajación? ¿Qué significa para ti? ¿Cómo lo percibes y experimentas?

El death metal es más como una forma de vida, en nuestro caso es como una forma de relación la que causa al escucharlo, también a la hora de interpretarlo es la forma de desahogo y darlo todo con el instrumento, dejar fluir lo que más oscuro que habita dentro. También es una puerta para salir de la rutina. Realmente disfrutamos el death Metal.

De momento estaremos tocando en Colombia en conciertos promocionales del nuevo disco de la banda. Esperamos también pronto iniciar grabación de un nuevo video oficial, correspondiente a una de las canciones del Stellar. Además, nos encontramos actualmente grabando una reedición de nuestro primer disco, el A Morbid Lust for Death.

En cuanto a conciertos, estamos esperando lograr concretar una propuesta para poder visitar México, y con ansias deseamos alguna propuesta para viajar a Europa.

Musím se přiznat, že mě doslova přikovalo na zeď. Je temné, energické, řeže ostrou hranou nože. Je hodně slyšet, že jste odvedli skvělou práci a taky velká porce talentu. Jak vnímáš novou desku v souvislosti s vaší prvotinou? Kam jak jste se chtěli posunout a v čem jsou podle tebe nahrávky odlišné?

Zdravím bratry, jsem Brahiam Valencia, baskytarista a zpěvák kapely Ossuary. Než začnu s dynamikou otázek a odpovědí, rád bych vám poděkoval za rozhovor. Když už jsem to udělal, rád bych řekl, že obě alba jsou od sebe vzdálená, jasně, že to neuvádím chronologicky. Především Stellar Annihilation je vyzrálejší album, a to jak tématem, tak instrumentální skladbou. Pro příklad si stačí přečíst některé texty z Addicted to Human Flesh a porovnat je s některým z nového alba, všimnete si, že vliv je už jiný. Snažili jsme se to udělat vážnější.

Vezměte si, že obě skladby jsou myšleny ze dvou zcela odlišných perspektiv. Dnes se Osario pohybuje na jiných oběžných drahách, možná trochu blouznivějších, které se, aniž by opustily tělo, usadily na hvězdné dráze.


„Stellar Annihilation“ v sobě obsahuje všechny atributy dobrého death metalu. Pro mě osobně se jedná o desku, ke které se hrozně rád vracím. Jakým způsobem vznikala? Jak skládají nový materiál OSSUARY?

Na hudební kompozici jsme s Juanem Estebanem pracovali několik měsíců. Snažili jsme se, aby hudba navazovala na klasický styl dobrého death metalu, proto kytary a basa zůstávají věrné tomuto žánru. Julián, náš bubeník, měl na starosti přidat nádech bicím. Co se týče textů, existuje záměr, aby byly tematické, aby jejich vývoj v průběhu alba zanechal v každé skladbě útržky jednoho příběhu zhutněného do jedenácti písní. Je tu společná nit, která vybízí posluchače, aby se ponořili do děje, zatímco riffy doplňují halucinace takového výletu... S tímto záměrem byla napsána deska Stellar.

Dohledal jsem si, že pod mixem a masteringem je podepsán Juan Esteban Sánchez. Musím potvrdit, že zvuk doslova zabíjí. Pořád mě to nutí na hi-fi věži přidávat volume. Juan vám vytvořil zvuk, který je krutý, surový a zároveň temný a živočišný. Jak se vám s ním spolupracovalo a proč právě on? V jakém studiu jste nahrávali a jak vše probíhalo?

Juan Esteban je lídrem a zakladatelem Ossuary, také velmi dobrým producentem, který na tomto díle zanechal svou stopu, a to jak ve složení a provedení kytar, tak ve všem, co souvisí s produkcí. Předchozí alba byla mixována a masterována v jiných studiích a s jinými inženýry. Toto album však měl na starosti Juan, který ve svém Studiu 440 hz vdechl každé ze skladeb syrovost a brutalitu. Přesně to jsme si u tohoto díla chtěli, protože ačkoli předchozí produkce jsou silové, zvuk bicích jako by se omezil na počítačové programování a ztratil všechny organické stopy.

Nahrávání probíhalo příjemným způsobem, každý z nás nahrával své linky s důvěrou. Nejprve byly na řadě bicí, pak kytary, basy a nakonec hlasy. Snažili jsme se, aby dílo bylo členité, vždy jsme mysleli na soudržnost aranží a na produkční záměr, který vedl Juan Esteban.


Nedílnou součástí a jakýmsi bonusem navíc je pro fanoušky dnes CD. Vy jste jej vydali u Awakening Records a je opatřeno temným obalem. Kdo je jeho autorem? Vysvětluji si to dobře, že se jedná o děsivou cthulhu příšeru? Jak jste motiv vybírali a jak souvisí s hudbou na novince?

Všechny naše práce byly vydány fyzicky, považujeme to za zásadní. Autorem obálky je kolumbijský ilustrátor Carlos Jacome. Má na starosti téměř všechny naše výtvarné práce, od Buried, které jsme uvedli na trh v roce 2019, až po současnost.

Pokud jde o druhou otázku, jde o interpretaci, která je dána jednoznačně, protože čtení umění při pohledu na hlavní spektrum nenechává příliš mnoho prostoru pro spekulace. Bezpochyby je to ta postava, kterou po sobě zanechal pan Lovecraft. Ve spojení s tématem skladeb je však možné zjistit, že tento Cthulhu není nikdy pojmenován, ale spíše v sobě představuje onen mimozemský druh, který svými démonickými chapadly proniká do útrob všeho organického na planetě Zemi. Zde se nachází souvislost mezi obalem a textem písně, neboť onen démon je tím, kdo ztělesňuje veškerou krutost cizopasníků, kteří terorem kolonizují fyzické i duchovní oblasti, v nichž se pohybuje lidská bytost, která se sklíčená svou podřízeností naprosto poddává iracionálnímu štěstí bohů. To lze vysvětlit celým kontextem hlavního díla.

Zajímalo by mě, o čem jsou texty na nové desce „Stellar Annihilation“. Kdo je jejich autorem a kde se inspiroval?

Já jsem napsal texty. Zajímavé je, že v některých výkladech lze vysledovat vliv sumerské mytologie. Východiskem pro přemýšlení o určitých nuancích byli také Lovecraft a Clark Ashton Smith. Ale řekněme, že největší vliv vytváří dialektická perspektiva, která se eklekticky mísí s ufologickými příběhy a jejich interpretacemi na mytologii, zejména sumerskou, jak už jsem řekl, kde se obraz člověka promítá do božského, v tomto případě bohů nebo démonů, kteří jako archetypy zakládají antropologický ideál.


Toulám se podsvětím již přes třicet let a do Kolumbie si chodím pro muziku vlastně na jistotu. Myslím, že máme podobnou náturu i vkus, co se týká metalu. Mám vaše kapely hodně rád a pečlivě sleduji vaši scénu. Možná vám i trošku závidím, my máme u nás jen pár death metalových smeček, které stojí za to. Čím si to vysvětluješ, že zrovna u vás se death metalu tolik daří? Jak vnímáš vaši scénu, fanoušky, labely?

Je těžké tvrdit, že kolumbijské deathmetalové kapely mají úspěch, přinejmenším úspěch, který se měří podle ekonometrických parametrů (jsem si vědom, že tento stav je běžný téměř ve všech zemích světa, ale rád bych zdůraznil na této straně planety).

Většina kapel zde vznikla v podmínkách nedostatku a násilí, což ztěžuje přístup k takovým kulturním statkům, jako je nahrávací studio, nebo dokonce nástroj (samozřejmě stejně obtížně jako před několika desetiletími). Fanoušci Ossuary a death metalu obecně chápou proměnlivost, kterou vášeň pro tento žánr obnáší, stejně jako sesterské kapely, které navzdory obtížím s kultivací a upevňováním hudebního díla zůstávají stát, a to díky onomu silnému charakteru, který vlastní milovník undergroundu. A právě zde přispívá k rozvoji death metalu a dalších metalových subžánrů úsilí vydavatelství, časopisů a dalších iniciativ, většinou nezávislých. Domnívám se, že právě to posílilo kolumbijský metal. Navzdory obtížím se stále rozšiřuje a zároveň vytváří pro metal důležitý umělecký repertoár.

Hrajete devastující death metal ovlivněný mimo jiné i americkou školou. Dnes se vlastně kapela nemůže vyhnout srovnání, mě by ale zajímalo, jak vlastně vznikl nápad založit OSSUARY, kdo byl a je vaším vzorem a kam vaši kapelu chcete posunout? Lákají vás třeba velké zahraniční festivaly, jste ochotni vyrazit na turné s nějakou slavnější smečkou?

Od začátku, a myslím, že až do teď, nás ovlivňoval americký death metal, jak jsi podotkl, nicméně i evropské kapely staré školy byly pro Ossuary obrovským referenčním rámcem. V malém výčtu bychom mohli jmenovat např: Morbid Angel, Obituary, Death, Malevolent Creation, Deicide, Pungent stench, Asphyx, Death, Pestilence, Cannibal Corpse, Sinister, Grave, Entombed, Unleashed, Nocturnus, Demilich.... Mimo jiné.

Pro doplnění této odpovědi bych rád doslovně citoval, co si o tom myslí Juan Esteban, protože k tomu má oprávnění, jelikož je zakládajícím členem Ossuary. (Přijel jsem v rámci propagace druhého alba Buried and Forggoten z roku 2019). Juanes říká:

K myšlence založit kapelu vedla především nalezená záliba v metalu, a to hlavně v subžánru death metal a další temné kapely s klasickým zvukem. S několika těmito vlivy bylo rozhodnuto založit kapelu s několika přáteli z té doby, tedy kolem roku 2012, a s vášní hrát písně, které nás zaujaly a poznamenaly. V tu chvíli se zrodila kapela.

Doufáme, že jednoho dne budeme moci s některými z nich sdílet pódium, ať už venku, nebo v naší zemi.

Od této otázky se mi zdá nezbytné, aby tím, kdo na ni odpovídá, byl Juan Esteban. V tom případě Zinu hluboce děkuji za rozhovor. Na shledanou v nejbližší době. Děkuji vám za podporu metalového undergroundu.


Když jsem před šesti lety zakládal svoje stránky, měl jsem vizi, že se budu snažit podporovat kapely, které podle mě nejsou tolik na očích. Dát o nich vědět světu. Myslím, že se mi to celkem daří, alespoň podle ohlasů. Jak přistupujete k propagaci vy? Necháváte to na labelu nebo sami posíláte CD různě na recenze? Já si třeba alba, která mě opravdu baví, kupuji. Jak jste na tom vy? Jste také fanoušci, co rádi a často podporují své kolegy? Chodíte na koncerty? Paříte?

Propagace naší kapely se dobře odrazila prostřednictvím nahrávací společnosti, se kterou spolupracujeme: Awakening Records z Číny, kteří nám hodně pomohli s distribucí fyzického materiálu, který distribuují téměř po celé planetě; zkrátka mají kontakty na několik vydavatelství a my jsme viděli, že se to odrazilo v nových příznivcích, kteří přicházejí na naše stránky.

Prostřednictvím sítí jsme se také dostali k různým médiím, která nás podpořila rozhovory a recenzemi na alba, díky nimž se o kapele ví o něco víc.

A z naší strany se samozřejmě snažíme podporovat kapely svých přátel, kupujeme jejich materiál a distribuujeme ho. Máme slušnou sbírku materiálu, hlavně od tuzemských kapel. A také se snažíme navštěvovat co nejvíce akcí, abychom podpořili mnoho kapel v našem regionu.


Na jednou stranu má dnes začínající kapela spoustu možností, jak o sobě dát vědět, ale zase na druhou stranu, skupin je obrovské množství a fanoušci se v nich ztrácejí. Hodně lidí jen stahuje mp3 z internetu a místo koncertu raději plive jedovaté sliny na facebooku. Jak vás, jako OSSUARY ovlivňují moderní technologie? Co si myslíš o stahování muziky, google metalistech, streamování muziky apod.?

Co se týče hudby, myslím si, že nové technologie mohou být velmi dobrým nástrojem, který umožňuje, aby kapela byla snadno slyšet a známa v jakémkoli koutě světa. Existují různé digitální monetizační platformy, které mohou být pro kapelu příjmem, i když to není ve velké výši, jako by to mohlo být prodejem fyzického materiálu. Pokud se však tato možnost dobře využije, může být technologie pro hudební projekty pozitivní.

Kontroverzí na sítích je mnoho a death metal se tomu nevyhnul. Domnívám se, že některé kritiky jsou oprávněné, jiné jsou prostě nesmysly.


S oblibou se ptám muzikantů na to, co pro ně znamená death metal. Jak by jej definovali, jestli je pro ně spíše filozofií a životním stylem nebo „jen“ relaxem. Co znamená pro tebe? Jak jej vnímáš a prožíváš?

Death metal je spíš způsob života, v našem případě je to forma vztahu, který způsobuje při poslechu, ale i při interpretaci, je to způsob, jak upustit páru a dát do toho všechno s nástrojem, nechat plynout to nejtemnější, co v nás žije. Jsou to také dveře, jak se dostat z rutiny. Death metal nás opravdu baví.

Na závěr klasická, ale důležitá otázka. Co chystají OSSUARY v nejbližších měsících? Kde vás můžeme vidět na koncertě a kdy navštívíte Evropu?

V současné době budeme hrát v Kolumbii na propagačních koncertech k novému albu kapely. Doufáme také, že brzy začneme natáčet nový oficiální videoklip, který bude odpovídat jedné z písní Stellar. Kromě toho v současné době nahráváme reedici našeho prvního alba A Morbid Lust for Death.

Co se týče koncertů, doufáme, že dokončíme nabídku na návštěvu Mexika, a těšíme se na nabídku na cestu do Evropy.

Pokaždé, když najdu na oltáři krev, začne moje fantazie spřádat pavučinu divných příběhů. Jsou v nich padlí kněží, tajemné rituály a také ryzí a prašivý black metal. Letos jsme o démonech DEMONCY již jednou psali. Kapela se rozhodla nás poctít jedním dlouhohrajícím albem (recenze na "Black Star Gnosis" je dokazována dole pod článkem) a jako takový morbidní bonus přidala EP "Diabolica Blasphemiae", které je neméně démonickou záležitostí.

Lidé říkají, že u nás v kostele dost často hoří ohně. Kříže se obracejí dolů a kněží šeptají zvrácené modlitby. Není divu, že všichni propadli peklu. Lidé i démoni totiž už dávno poslouchají DEMONCY. I ty se o tom můžeš přesvědčit, když přijdeš na nedělní mši. Ihned si určitě všimneš, že mniši se divně usmívají a jejich slova jsou jedovatá jako kyanid. 


Nejlépe uděláte, když se k nám přidáte. Vezmeme vás dolů do sklepa, kde jsou pohřbeni prokletí. Oběti pradávných rituálů. A všichni poslouchají tohle EP. S pohledem upřeným do tmy, nadšeni pro všechny poslední věci člověka před smrtí. Přesně takovou atmosféru má i tahle deska. S příměsí zkažené krve, krystalů ledu a hnisu, padáme do hlubiny. DEMONCY to se mnou opět umí, povedlo se jim mě spoutat a zavřít do plesnivé kobky. Užívám si mrazivý zvuk, oceňuji majestátní obal. Po formální stránce je vše v nejlepším pořádku. Navíc jsou přidávány velmi dobré, děsivé nápady. Máte rádi kapely jako PROFANATICA, ARCHGOAT, BLACK FUNERAL, BLACK WITCHERY, JUDAS ISCARIOT, VON? Potom doporučuji zhasnout všechna světla i zavřít víko od rakve. Pak si vychutnáte "Diabolica Blasphemiae" jako krev z čerstvě proříznuté tepny. Skladbám nechybí drive a síla, energie načerpaná mezi starými hroby. Někdy mívám zlé a ošklivé sny. Když se probudím, tak potom nevím, co je jen představa a co krutá realita. Po poslechu tohoto alba mám pocit, že se nikdy neprobudím. Navždy budu zavřený v temných kobkách, navždy budu uctívat staré metalové kulty. DEMONCY patří mezi ně. Pro mě, jako oddaného fanouška je skvělé, že si kapela stále drží svoji kvalitu. Rád se k novému EP vracím, rád trávím čas při společných rituálech. Pokaždé, když najdu na oltáři krev, začne moje fantazie spřádat pavučinu divných příběhů. Kříže se obracejí dolů a kněží říkají zvrácené modlitby. Není divu, že všichni propadli peklu. Seance pradávných black metalových démonů! Nahrubo nasekaná tma! Totální inferno!

Every time I find blood on the altar, my imagination starts spinning a web of strange stories. There are fallen priests, mysterious rituals and also pure and dirty black metal. This year we have already written about DEMONCY demons once. The band decided to grace us with one full-length album (the review of "Black Star Gnosis" is evidenced below the article) and as a sort of morbid bonus, they added the EP "Diabolica Blasphemiae", which is no less demonic affair.

People say there are fires burning in our church quite often. Crosses are turned down and priests whisper perverted prayers. No wonder they've all gone to hell. For both men and demons have been listening to DEMONCY for a long time. You can see for yourself when you come to Sunday Mass. You'll immediately notice that the monks smile strangely and their words are as poisonous as cyanide.

With their eyes fixed on the darkness, excited for all the last things a man does before he dies. That's exactly the vibe of this record. With a mixture of tainted blood, ice crystals and pus, we fall into the depths. DEMONCY have done it again, they've managed to handcuff me and lock me in a moldy dungeon. I enjoy the chilling sound, appreciate the majestic cover. Formally, everything is in the best order. Plus, some very good, scary ideas are added. Do you like bands like PROFANATICA, ARCHGOAT, BLACK FUNERAL, BLACK WITCHERY, JUDAS ISCARIOT, VON? Then I suggest you turn off all the lights and close the coffin lid. Then you will enjoy "Diabolica Blasphemiae" like blood from a freshly cut artery. The compositions are not lacking drive and power, energy recharged among old graves. Sometimes I have bad and ugly dreams. When I wake up, I don't know what's imagination and what's cruel reality. After listening to this album, I feel like I'll never wake up. I will always be locked in dark dungeons, forever worshipping old metal cults. DEMONCY is one of them. For me, as a devoted fan, it's great that the band still maintains its quality. I like to come back to the new EP, I like to spend time in the rituals together. Every time I find blood on the altar, my imagination starts spinning a web of strange stories. Jsme tu jenom pro tebe. Nevím, na co čekáš. Vždyť všechno v tvém životě je jenom ošklivé a zlé. Co kdyby sis vzal do rukou nůž a potom je to na tobě? My máme čas, my hnijeme v zemi již dlouhou dobu. Nikam nespěcháme. Nakonec se vždycky setkáme, neboj se. V zemi nekonečných stínů, hluboko pod zemí. Pohřbí tě v dřevěné rakvi a sežerou tě červi. Teprve potom tě přivítáme, mezi námi, nemrtvými. Jenom nám prosím přines nějakou hudbu, třeba novou desku kolumbijských FUNERAL VOMIT. Ano, přesně tohle zde posloucháme. 

S kolumbijskou smečkou jste se již mohli na našich stránkách jednou setkat. Bylo to kdysi, v roce 2020, když vydali svoje první demo "Necrophoric Infestation". Nahrávka se mi tenkrát velmi líbila (recenze je odkazována dole pod článkem) a tak jsem se na jejich první dlouhohrající album opravdu těšil. Novinka je volným pokračováním krvavých masakrů v márnicích. A řeže jako čerstvě nabroušený skalpel! 


Je to hniloba, špína a smrt. Hnisavý vřed, který praskne, když do něj říznete rezavým nožem. Pánové hrají postaru, plesnivě, uvěřitelně, ve stylu třeba takových AUTOPSY, MORTICIAN, CARNAGE, CREMATORY, CARCASS, INCANTATION, INFESTER. Dělají svoji morbidní práci velmi uvěřitelně. Představte si smradlavá jatka. Oběti zavřené v klecích, čekající na jistou smrt. Určitě chápete rozdíl mezi současnými umělými kapelami a FUNERAL VOMIT. Pokud ne, tak doporučuji poslouchat hodně nahlas. Tahle parta řezníků vám vystřelí mozek z hlavy a roztrhá vás na kusy. Žádné kompromisy, žádné zbytečnosti, jenom starodávné, divoké rituály. Je vám doufám jasné, že po setkání s jejich hudbou, neodejde nikdo živý? Starý, surový zvuk, parádní obal, znázorňující říši mrtvých, k tomu spousta děsivých a mocných melodií. Myslím si, že my staří metaloví psi, si nemůžeme přát víc. Kolumbijci neznají slitování, útočí napřímo, jako hladová šelma, která touží po čerstvém mase. A mě tak nezbývá opět nic jiného, než vám jejich nové album "Monumental Putrescence" doporučit. Líbí se mi totiž temná a chladná atmosféra celé desky, oceňuji drive a sílu, které z alba doslova vytékají, jako zkažená krev ze znovu otevřené rány. Deska musela být nahrávána hluboko v podzemí, ve starých katakombách. Jsme tu jenom pro tebe. Nevím, na co čekáš. Už nastal čas. Za chvíli se setkáme, těšíš se? V zemi nekonečných stínů, hluboko pod zemí. Pohřbíme tě v dřevěné rakvi a sežerou tě červi. A hrát nám k tomu budou FUNERAL VOMIT. Hnusná, zahnívající death metalová mršina! Temnota ze starých hrobů!

You may have already met the Colombian pack once on our site. It was back in 2020, when they released their first demo "Necrophoric Infestation". I liked the record a lot back then (review is linked at the bottom of the article) and so I was really looking forward to their first full-length album. The new album is a loose continuation of the bloody massacres in the morgues. And it cuts like a freshly sharpened scalpel!


It is rot, filth and death. A festering ulcer that bursts when you cut it with a rusty knife. Gentlemen play old-fashioned, mouldy, believable, in the style of AUTOPSY, MORTICIAN, CARNAGE, CREMATORY, CARCASS, INCANTATION, INFESTER. They do their morbid work very believably. Imagine a stinking slaughterhouse. Victims locked in cages, waiting for certain death. I'm sure you can understand the difference between the current artificial bands and FUNERAL VOMIT. If you don't, I suggest you listen very loudly. This bunch of butchers will blow your brains out and rip you to shreds. No compromises, no uselessness, just ancient, wild rituals. I hope you understand that after you've heard their music, no one leaves alive. The old, raw sound, the cool cover, depicting the realm of the dead, plus a lot of scary and powerful melodies. I think we old metal dogs couldn't ask for more. Colombians know no mercy, they attack directly, like a hungry beast that craves fresh meat. And I have no other choice but to recommend their new album "Monumental Putrescence". I like the dark and cold atmosphere of the whole album, I appreciate the drive and power that literally ooze out of the album, like bad blood from a reopened wound. The record must have been recorded deep underground, in the old catacombs. We're only here for you. I don't know what you're waiting for. The time has come. I'll see you soon. Are you excited? In the land of endless shadows, deep underground. We'll bury you in a wooden coffin and the worms will eat you. And FUNERAL VOMIT will play for us. Filthy, rotting death metal carrion! Vždycky jsme přišli pozdě. Pokaždé stejný modus operandi. Mladá dívka s proříznutým hrdlem. V temné ulici, kousek od rušného davu. Nikdo si ničeho nevšímal, přesto měl každý spoustu fotek a videí. Muž v černé kápi, s velkým nožem v ruce. Ulicemi obcházel strach a šílený bastard nám stále unikal. Byl čím dál tím víc drzý a brutálnější. Lovec a jeho oběti, smrt, která pro něj byla vysvobozením. Nakonec jej roztrhal na kusy rozzuřený dav. Lynčoval ho a pověsil na nejbližší lampu. Nehumánní, co říkáte? Zkuste to říct do očí rodičům obětí. 

Četl jsem podobný příběh a v některých momentech jsem musel knihu zavírat. Byla příliš zlá a ošklivá. Poslouchal jsem k tomu nový počin britských maniaků FOETAL JUICE a kýval se do rytmu. Až půjdu večer ven, budu se neustále ohlížet za sebe. Budou mě děsit stíny a budu pořád přidávat hlasitost na svém prohlížeči. "Grotesque" je death metalovým albem, které je špinavé a krvavé jako ulice plná mrtvých těl. 


S kapelou máme u nás na stránkách i rozhovor (je spolu s recenzemi na předchozí desky odkazován dole pod článkem). I letos pokračují pánové ve své šílené kovové jízdě. Nasypou do vás ostrý, nekompromisní smrtící kov, ve stylu třeba takových CANNIBAL CORPSE, VADER, MASTER, ENTOMBED, MALEVOLENT CREATION. Je to lavina, vichřice, tlak a energie. Vztek, který máme každý v sobě a jednou za čas musí ven. Pořádně si zařvat, vzít do rukou kladivo a zbourat zeď. Vyčistit si hlavu, vystřelit mozek z hlavy. To je hlavním účelem téhle desky a gentlemanům se to daří na výbornou. Hudba zde není nijak novátorská, ani objevná, ale zase na druhou stranu, kapele věřím každý riff, každou melodii, každý úder bicích. Zvuk, obal, produkce, vše je v nejlepším pořádku a netřeba je pitvat. Raději si užívám mrtvolnou atmosféru celé nahrávky. Představuji si malý klub na periferii města. Projít musíte ulicemi, kde vás můžou přepadnout i roztrhat na kusy. Pokud přežijete, dáte si pivo a pak skočíte do mosh-pitu. Osobně tak hudbu FOETAL JUICE vnímám. Je prostým faktem, že v dnešní šílené době je potřeba občas provést očistu svých myšlenek. Alba jako je "Grotesque" jsou k tomu určena. Řvu zase jednou z plných plic. Tančím do rytmu, muzika je mojí nedílnou součástí. Myslím si, že není třeba dalších slov, lepší bude, když si desku poslechnete. A to pořádně nahlas. Maniakální, agresivní death metalový stroj na zabíjení! Masakr v temné ulici!

We were always late. Same modus operandi every time. Young girl with a slit throat. In a dark alley, away from a busy crowd. Nobody noticed anything, yet everyone had lots of photos and videos. A man in a black hood, with a big knife in his hand. Fear was running through the streets, and the crazy bastard kept eluding us. He was getting more and more brazen and brutal. The hunter and his victims, the death that was his deliverance. Finally, he was torn to pieces by an angry mob. He was lynched and hung from the nearest lamppost. Inhumane, don't you think? Try telling that to the parents of the victims. 

I read a similar story and at some points I had to close the book. It was too mean and ugly. I listened to the new release by British maniacs FOETAL JUICE and swayed to the beat. When I go out tonight, I'll keep looking behind me. I'll be creeped out by the shadows and I'll keep turning up the volume on my browser. "Grotesque" is a death metal album that is as dirty and bloody as a street full of dead bodies.


We also have an interview with the band on our website (it is linked below the article, along with reviews of previous albums). This year the gentlemen continue their crazy metal ride. They pour sharp, uncompromising death metal into you, in the style of such bands as CANNIBAL CORPSE, VADER, MASTER, ENTOMBED, MALEVOLENT CREATION. It's an avalanche, a whirlwind, pressure and energy. The anger that we all have inside us and once in a while it has to come out. We have to scream, take a hammer in our hands and break down the wall. Clear your head, blow your brains out. That's the main purpose of this record, and the gentlemen are doing a great job of it. The music here is not innovative or revelatory, but then again, I trust the band with every riff, every melody, every drum beat. The sound, the cover, the production, everything is in the best order and there is no need to dissect them. I prefer to enjoy the deadpan atmosphere of the whole record. I imagine a small club on the outskirts of town. You have to walk through the streets where you can be ambushed and torn to pieces. If you survive, you'll have a beer and then jump into a mosh pit. Personally, that's how I feel about FOETAL JUICE music. It's a simple fact that in these crazy times, you need to purge your thoughts from time to time. Albums like "Grotesque" are meant for that. I'm screaming at the top of my lungs once again. I dance to the rhythm, music is an integral part of me. I think no more words are needed, it's better if you listen to the album. And loudly. A maniacal, aggressive death metal killing machine! Massacre in a dark alley!

V některých místech je led již popraskaný. Utopenci se tak mohou alespoň trošku nadechnout. Sedím na břehu a dívám se na hejno krkavců, kteří krouží kolem. Koloběh přírody, život a smrt. Narodíme se v bolestech a celý život si s sebou neseme kříž svých předků. Pomíjivost, zrnko písku ve věčnosti. Tichý les, přízraky, které vylezou pokaždé, když poslouchám novou desku německých death doom metalistů DÉCEMBRE NOIR. Jsou pro mě kapelou pro dlouhé procházky zimní přírodou, jsou pro mě soundtrackem k pohřebním hostinám. 

Smutek a temné síla, chlad a bolest, to jsou hlavní charakteristiky hudby, kterou nám pánové předkládají i letos. Silné melodie, zdánlivě tichý hřbitov, s náhrobkem, na kterém si jednou přečtete i svoje jméno. Opět na mě dýchl ledový vzduch, zatuchlina a dotkla se mě samotná Smrt.


Pánové se pohybují ve stejných močálech, jako kapely typu MY DYING BRIDE, OCTOBER TIDE, INSOMNIUM, SWALLOW THE SUN. Němci sice příliš nevystupují z předem nastavených mantinelů, ale rozhodně mají svůj vlastní výraz. Novinka na mě působí svěžím a zajímavým dojmem. Skladby jsou pestré, pokud bych byl malířem, charakterizoval bych je jako smutnou paletu do černé zahalených odstínů. Zvuk, obal, celková produkce a provedení jsou vybroušeny k dokonalosti. "Your Sunset | My Sunrise" je albem, které jsem nejčastěji poslouchal, když jsem si četl, když jsem se vrátil z dlouhých výletů bez konce. Je to právě podzimní a zimní počasí, které mi bylo pro společná setkání nejlepší kulisou. Koloběh přírody se spojil s jednotlivými motivy a pod nohama mi praskal čerstvý sníh. Nová deska mě donutila se zastavit, přemýšlet. Hudbu si neskutečně užívám, je pro mě nedílnou součástí. Je hrozně příjemné se v dnešním uspěchaném a povrchním světě zastavit, uklidnit svoje myšlenky. Chvíli nedělat nic, jenom přidávat hlasitost. Srovnat si všechno v hlavě, vychutnat si jednotlivé pasáže, zase jednou se nestydět za smutek, který nás každého občas přepadne. Nenadále a ze zálohy. Jako děsivý stín, který vás obejme a nepustí. Zase jsem si jednou uvědomil, co je v životě důležité. DÉCEMBRE NOIR dokázali na novince vytvořit spoustu pochmurných nálad. Byl jsem zase jednou můrou, která se snaží rozbít lampu. Smutný, depresivní doom death metal, který rozdrásá vaše duše!

In some places the ice is already cracked. Drowning people can breathe a little. I'm sitting on the shore watching a flock of ravens circling. The cycle of nature, life and death. We are born in pain and carry the cross of our ancestors with us all our lives. Transience, a grain of sand in eternity. The silent forest, the ghosts that come out every time I listen to the new album by German death doom metallers DÉCEMBRE NOIR. They are the band for long walks in the winter countryside, they are the soundtrack to funeral feasts for me. 

Sadness and dark power, coldness and pain, these are the main characteristics of the music that the gentlemen present to us this year. Strong melodies, a seemingly silent cemetery, with a tombstone on which you will one day read your own name. Once again, the icy air, the mustiness, and Death itself touched me.


The gentlemen are in the same swamps as bands like MY DYING BRIDE, OCTOBER TIDE, INSOMNIUM, SWALLOW THE SUN. Although the Germans don't really step out of the pre-set boundaries, they definitely have their own expression. The novelty makes a fresh and interesting impression on me. The songs are colourful, if I were a painter I would describe them as a sad palette of shades shrouded in black. The sound, packaging, overall production and execution are polished to perfection. "Your Sunset | My Sunrise" is the album I've listened to most often when I've read when I've returned from long trips with no end in sight. It's the fall and winter weather that has been the best backdrop for me to get together. The cycle of nature merged with each motif and fresh snow crunched under my feet. The new record made me stop, think. I enjoy music immensely, it's an integral part of me. It's so nice to stop in today's hectic and superficial world, to calm my thoughts. To do nothing for a while, just turn up the volume. To sort everything out in your head, to savour the individual passages, to once again not be ashamed of the sadness that comes over all of us from time to time. Suddenly and out of the blue. Like a terrifying shadow that embraces you and won't let go. Once again, I realized what's important in life. DÉCEMBRE NOIR managed to create a lot of gloomy moods on their new album. I was once again a moth trying to break a lamp. Sad, depressing doom death metal that will tear your soul apart!
