Život v bombardovaných Drážďanech musel být sám o sobě neskutečně těžký. Inspektor Heller má nadřízeného nácka, všichni mu hází klacky pod nohy, kolem umírají lidé hladem, zimou nebo jsou jen tak bez důvodu zastřeleni. On se přesto snaží vyšetřovat sérii bestiálních vražd. Píše se rok 1944 a Rusové pomalu obsazují Německo. Mám rád i historické romány a Frank Goldammer je neskutečně uvěřitelný a autentický. Od knihy jsem se nedokázal odtrhnout a potom pokaždé přemýšlel, jak si někdy nevážíme obyčejných normálních věcí. Ano, celý příběh pro mě měl vlastně dvě roviny. V jedné jsem si užíval skvěle napsanou detektivku a v druhé nasával atmosféru válečného Německa. Vše je neskutečně surové, syrové, autor si nechal záležet i na drobnostech a detailech, které si budete pamatovat.
Konec, rozuzlení je svým způsobem také překvapivé. Napnutý jsem byl vlastně od začátku do vyřešení případu. Vše je pochmurně mlhavé, vzduchem se vznáší beznaděj a hlavní hrdina si jde jako buldok za svým. Mám rád takové lidi, kteří i když je kolem jen marast, hnus a lidská špína, tak jsou ostrůvkem normálnosti. Zase tolik čistých charakterů člověk v životě nepotká. Kniha tak není jen další obyčejnou v řadě, ale i důvodem k zamyšlení. Když si čtu, co s masou lidí dokázala válka. Tentokrát ještě napsáno z pohledu poražených, jsem rád, že žiju dnes, v relativním klidu. Hodně a často jsem o Strašákovi přemýšlel. Večer jsme navíc sledovali vynikající seriál Babylon Berlín, který je zase zasazen do let 1929 - 1930. Strašák je vlastně i takovým osvěžením v záplavě severských krimi, které jsem poslední roky četl. Toulá se po vybombardovaných Drážďanech a lační po krvi. Vynikající temný příběh!
V listopadu 1944 je život ve válečných Drážďanech téměř k nevydržení. A když se k nesnesitelným životním podmínkám ještě přidá strach z neznámého zabijáka, musí zasáhnout kriminální inspektor Max Heller. Ve městě je postupně nalezeno několik mrtvých mladých žen. Všechny byly před smrtí krutě mučeny a jejich těla jsou nelidsky zohavená. Mezi lidmi se šíří pověsti o hrozivém vrahovi – Strašákovi – plížícím se během nočních leteckých poplachů zatemněným městem. V chaotických posledních dnech druhé světové války pátrá Max Heller nejen po pachateli bestiálních vražd, ale bojuje i se svým nadřízeným, fanatickým nacistou, který evidentně něco tají. Naděje, že byl Strašák zabit při velkém bombardování města v únoru 1945, se ukáže jako lichá. Maxovo vyšetřování tudíž pokračuje i po obsazení Drážďan Rudou armádou….
Byl všude, kde se stalo něco ošklivého. Stával se stínem na pohřbech, chodil po smutných chodbách nemocnic. Nasával bolest, usmíval se v koutě, když ostatní trpěli. Když byla zrovna válka, toulal se v zákopech a na bojištích. Sledoval bolest, zkřivené tváře umírajících. Mohli jste jej potkat v márnici. Byl jako raněné zvíře a toužil po zkaženém mase. Démon temnoty, o kterém se vyprávějí legendy. Mám neodbytný pocit, že je opět zde. Alespoň při poslechu nové desky "Fiendish".
Jedná se o druhé album kapely a také o čistokrevný devastující švédský death metal. Kosti jsou lámány tlakem, lebky pukají, rakve naskakují a nemrtví chtějí ven. Nahrávku s typickým zvukem si neskutečně užívám od začátku do konce. Chodím opuštěnými ulicemi našeho města a mám neodbytný pocit, že mě někdo sleduje. Tentokrát si démon říká CARNAL SAVAGERY.
CARNAL SAVAGERY jsou typičtí, klasičtí, drží se kdysi zavedených tradic. A jde jim to moc dobře. Skladby jsou jako ostré hroty rezavých hřebů, které vám někdo postupně zatlouká do hlavy. Nejdřív vám mozkem projede obrovská bolest a mráz, ale potom si s chutí znovu a znovu přidáváte hlasitost na přehrávači. Postava na obalu, mimochodem ten se neskutečně povedl, má za sebou podobného démona. Cover tak krásně doplňuje to, co se na desce odehrává. Smrdutý, prašivý death metal v podobném stylu jako jej hrávají kapely typu ENTRAILS, DISMEMBER, INTERMENT, FERAL, DEMONICAL, SORCERY, FIRESPAWN, ENTOMBED, WOMBBATH, GRAVE a další severští maniaci. Zaslechnout lze ale i ozvěny americké školy (AUTOPSY). "Fiendish" je hrubým zásekem do našich mozků, hrobnickou záležitostí pro všechny pravověrné. Abyste si album užili, musíte být prokletí a pevně věřit v ryzí, opravdový švédský death metal. Přestavte si starý opuštěný chrám, ve kterém se vznáší ledový vzduch. Také jste si všimli postavy ve stínu? Ano, je to on, démon temnoty. Díky CARNAL SAVAGEY se znovu probudil a touží po bolesti. Troufám si tvrdit, že se album opravdu povedlo. Starý, prašivý švédský death metal, u kterého vám popraskají všechny kosti v těle!

CARNAL SAVAGERS are typical, classic, they are stick to established traditions. And they are doing it very well. The songs are like sharp spikes of rusty nails, which someone gradually punches in the head. At first you get a huge pain and frost in your brain, but then you enjoy adding volume to the player again and again. The character on the cover, by the way, has been incredibly successful, has a similar demon behind him. The cover thus beautifully complements what is happening on the record. Ave CARNAL SAVAGERY! I haven’t found any interview in the Czech language with you, yet. So please, first introduce the band to our readers who don’t know you. You could start from the early beginnings and describe the whole CARNAL SAVAGERY history.
It all started in the summer 2017. I was home with my child the whole summer and when he sleept during the days i picked up the guitar and made some riffs. I asked a friend later if we should start a band. Him and me had played together before in another band called Cromlech. So i did like 4 songs that we started to rehearse and then we also asked around fro more people. We did a demo after awhile and send it around to record-labels and i think it was like 8-10 different labels that wanted to sign us. Later on we recorded our debut album Grotesque Macabre and now its time for our second album to be released, Fiendish.
I’m just listening to your new record „Fiendish“ and I feel like as if I am closed in some tomb together with DISMEMBER, NIHILIST, ENTRAILS, and INTERMENT. The record has a great Swedish sound. Where did you record it and how satisfied you are with it? Did you have the "last word" concerning the resulting sound?
We recorded it in Studio LV5 in Sundsvall. And we are pretty satisfied, things can always be better, but still we are happy with it, sounds alot better then our first album. And yes it was our call to 100% to decide how it would sound.
How was the new material for album „Fiendish“ created? How exactly CARNAL SAVAGERY writes the music?
The first day i came home from the studio after we recorded Grotesque macabre i picked up the guitar and started to make new music then the first days i wrote the track Dead rotten meat. And i wrote like 50 songs in 8-10 months. I quit my work so i had all days to play guitar. So to the Fiendish album we had alot of material to choose from. When i write the music i do both the music and lyrics at the same time, just so i see that it turns out good both on the guitar and the vocals. Sometimes you can make a good riff but you dont find any good ways to sing on it, then its better to change that riff right away if it supposed to be a vers for an example.
„Fiendish“ has dark and morbid cover art. Who is an author? I really like his work. How did you actually choose the idea of the cover and what exactly illustrates?
The artist is called Hand Rot Art, he have done all our covers, tshirt prints etc. And we wanted a cover with a Zombie because thats whats our lyrics is mostly about. Also we had that name Fiendish allready as for the album title. And also we will have that theme during all our albums, this Zombie will follow us like Eddie in iron Maiden. And the cover illustrates the end of the world, death and evil everywere!
Could you reveal us who is an author of the lyrics and what is their background? Where did you take inspiration for certain topics?
Me, Mikael writes all music and lyrics to this band. Patrik have helped out on one track though regarding the lyrics to the Fiendish album, otherwise its me. And like i said its all about Zombies, Cannibals etc. I like the lyrics sick, the sicker it gets the better. I dont need any inspiration because i know what i want. So it is just to sit down and start to write and then it comes natural.
The new album was released by Moribund Records. This label has a very good name in the underground scene and does a very good job. However, didn't you want to release a record in some bigger label? Did you ask some other label? How you are actually satisfied with Moribund Records?
Bigger labels are often not interested in small bands like us, aint enough with money in thoose bands. Moribund are awesome, couldent be better at least that is how i feel so far. I have nothing to complain about, they have been amazing to us. Also Moribund and labels like that have more heart into bands music, while bigger label just want to make money, at least thats my oppinion.
You play typical, classical Swedish old school death metal. You have never changed the direction, you are let's say „orthodox“. Personally, this is one reason why I like your music so much. But, didn’t you think about try to play something different, somehow to make the CARNAL SAVAGERY music more unusual?
I dont think we play typical Swedish death metal. My influces regarding writing music aint nothing at all towards the Swedish style, more to the american style. I would say Autopsy are my biggest influence, Severed Survival and Mental Funeral. So i try to stick away from the typical Swedish style, haha..... Obviously i havent!! :)).
When I look through your albums, you really made a long journey. It is obvious that you as a band are still working on yourself. How often do you rehearsal together? Are you a "hard-working" band, which practices regularly or are you more „punk“ in the rehearsal task?
We pratice twice a week. And for myself im defintly hard working. Sometimes i play guitar all day long, like 8 hours/day, making music and lyrics. I have that time now when i dont work. So we have so much material so in May we go back to the studio, to record our 3 album. And even 5-6 songs to our 4th album is allready written.
In the case of your band, it is very good to see your development, each album is better, and you are also gradually better and better musicians. Do you have some goal, which you would like to achieve? Someone wants to release an album with a large label; other wants to play on one stage with some famous band. What about you?
Thanks, fun to hear that you also think its getting better and better. Well play live with some bigger band would be great when this Covid shit is over. We would like to go on tour and open up for a bigger band, that would be awesome. And of course it would be nice to be signed to a big record label, but only if they can make a big difference towards Moribund for an example. Like i said before i really like Moribund and i could release all Carnal Savagerys album with them because it works so good between us.
Can you recommend some new albums, which impressed you at the latest time?
I have just order the new Cannibal Corpse album, cant wait to hear it. Otherwise im not into new death metal bands that much, the older ones did it so much better in my oppinion.
Do you know and listen to some metal bands from the Czech Republic?
Nope, sorry i havent. I used to be a die hard fan of all sorts of metal music before, reading all magz etc. I knew all the names of the members in bands and so on, but i stopped with that for a long time ago. Today i dont bother at all, i dont have the time when i have small kids. When i have my own time i spend that on making music and praticing playing drums.
We are slowly approaching the end of the interview so I would like to ask one more philosophical question. How would you define the Swedish death metal style? What represents this music for you and why did you choose exactly this genre?
The HM2 boss pedals is the main reason to making it sound swedish in my oppinion. And then again i dont think we play typical Swedish death metal, but that is up to everyone to think what they want.
What CARNAL SAVAGERY is planning for the next few months?
Fiendish releases April 9th. We go back to the studio in May for the recording of our 3 album.

Ave CARNAL SAVAGERY! Nikde jsem s vámi nenašel žádný rozhovor v češtině. Poprosím tě tedy nejdřív, abys čtenářům, kteří vás ještě neznají, představil kapelu. Můžeš klidně začít úplně od začátku a provést nás celou historií CARNAL SAVAGERY.
Všechno to začalo v létě 2017. Celé léto jsem byl doma se svým dítětem a když během dne spalo, vzal jsem kytaru a napsal nějaké riffy. Později jsem se zeptal kamaráda, jestli bychom nezaložili kapelu. On a já jsme spolu hráli dříve v jiné kapele - Cromlech. Takže jsem napsal čtyři skladby, které jsme začali zkoušet, pak jsme oslovili další lidi. Po nějaké době jsme nahráli demo a poslali ho nahrávacím společnostem, myslím, že to bylo 8-10 různých labelů, které s námi chtěly podepsat smlouvu. Později jsme nahráli naše debutové album „Grotesque Macabre“ a nyní je čas na vydání našeho druhého alba „Fiendish“.
Právě poslouchám vaši novinku „Fiendish“ a připadám si, jako bych byl zavřený v nějaké kobce spolu s DISMEMBER, NIHILIST, ENTRAILS a INTERMENT. Deska má skvělý švédský sound. Kde jste album nahrávali a jak jste s výsledkem spokojen? Mluvili jste nějak do výsledného zvuku?
Nahrávali jsme to ve Studiu LV5 v Sundsvall. A jsme docela spokojení, vždycky to může být lepší, ale přesto jsme s tím spokojeni, zní to mnohem lépe než naše první album. A ano, bylo to naše podmínka, že si rozhodneme o tom, jak to bude znít.
Jakým způsobem vznikal nový materiál pro „Fiendish“? Jak vlastně tvoří/skládají CARNAL SAVAGERY?
První den, co jsem přišel domů ze studia, poté, co jsme nahráli „Grotesque Macabre“, jsem vzal kytaru a začal psát novou hudbu. Během prvních dní jsem napsal skladbu „Dead Shnil Meat“. A napsal jsem asi 50 skladeb za 8-10 měsíců. Přestal jsem pracovat, takže jsem mohl hrát na kytaru každý den. Takže k albu „Fiendish“ jsme měli spoustu materiálu, ze kterého jsme mohli vybírat. Když píšu hudbu, dělám hudbu i texty současně, takže vidím, že to spolu sedí jak kytara, tak i vokály. Někdy můžete udělat dobrý riff, ale nenajdete žádný dobrý způsob, jak na něj zpívat, pak je lepší tento riff hned změnit.
„Fiendish“ má temný morbidní obal. Kdo je pod ním podepsán? Jeho práce se mi líbí, Jak jste vůbec nápad na obal vybírali a co má znázorňovat?
Umělec se jmenuje Hand Rot Art, udělal všechny naše obaly, potisky triček atd. A chtěli jsme obal se Zombie, protože o tom jsou hlavně naše texty. Také jsme již měli název alba - Fiendish. A také budeme mít toto téma na všech našich albech, Zombie nás budou následovat jako Eddie Iron Maiden. Obal ilustruje konec světa, smrt a všude přítomné zlo!
Kdo je autorem textů a o čem pojednávají? Kde pro témata berete inspiraci?
Já (Mikael) píšu veškerou hudbu a texty této kapele. Patrik pomohl na jedné skladbě, pokud jde o texty k albu „Fiendish“, jinak jsem to já. A jak jsem řekl, je to všechno o zombie, kanibalech atd. Mám rád chorobné texty, čím chorobnější, tím lepší. Nepotřebuji žádnou inspiraci, protože vím, co chci. Jde tedy jen o to si sednout a začít psát, pak to přichází přirozeně samo.
Novinka vyšla na u Moribund Records. Label má v undergroundu velmi dobré jméno a odvádí skvělou práci, ale nelákalo vás vydat album u nějaké větší firmy? Oslovili jste nějaké? Jak jste vlastně spokojeni s Moribund Records?
Větší vydavatelství se často nezajímají o malé kapely, jako jsme my, nevydělají těmito kapelami dost peněz. Moribund Records je úžasný, nemůže být lepší, alespoň tak to zatím cítím. Nemám si na co stěžovat, pro nás jsou skvělí. Také Moribund a podobné labely do toho dávají víc srdce, do hudby a kapel, zatímco větší labely chtějí jen vydělat peníze, alespoň to je můj názor.
Hrajete typický, klasický starý švédský death metal. Nikdy jste z téhle cesty neuhnuli, jste „ortodoxní“. Osobně je to jeden z důvodů, proč se mi vaše tvorba tolik líbí, ale nelákalo vás někdy zkusit hrát něco trošku jiného, nějak tvorbu CARNAL SAVAGERY ozvláštnit?
Nemyslím si, že hrajeme typický švédský death metal. Moje vlivy, co se psaní hudby týče, nejsou vůbec nic ve švédském stylu, spíše v americkém stylu. Řekl bych, že AUTOPSY – Severed Survival a Mental Funeral jsou mými největšími vlivy. Takže se snažím držet stranou od typického švédského stylu, haha ..... očividně mi to nejde! :)
Když si projíždím vaši tvorbu, ušli jste opravdu dlouhou cestu. Je hodně znát, že na sobě jako kapela pracujete. Jak často vlastně CARNAL SAVAGERY zkouší? Jste poctivou skupinou, která se pravidelně schází nebo jste spíš pankáči, kteří tomu nechávají volný průběh?
Cvičíme dvakrát týdně. A za sebe můžu říct, že rozhodně tvrdě makám. Někdy hraji celý den na kytaru, třeba 8 hodin denně, dělám hudbu a texty. Teď mám čas, když nepracuji. Máme spoustu materiálu, takže v květnu jdeme zpět do studia, abychom nahráli naše třetí album. A dokonce už je napsáno i 5-6 skladeb k našemu čtvrtému albu.
Na vaší kapele je opravdu vidět, jak se každé album postupně zlepšujete, vyvíjíte, jste stále lepší. Máte nějaký cíl, kterého byste chtěli dosáhnout? Pro někoho to je slavné vydavatelství, jiný si chce třeba zahrát se slavnou kapelu.
Díky, je fajn slyšet, že si myslíš, že je to stále lepší a lepší. Hrát naživo s nějakou větší kapelou by bylo skvělé, až tyhle Covid sračky skončí. Chtěli bychom vyrazit na turné a předskakovat větší kapele, to by bylo úžasné. A samozřejmě by bylo fajn upsat se nějaké velké nahrávací společností, ale pouze pokud by to byl velký přínos oproti Moribund. Jak jsem řekl dříve, mám opravdu rád Moribund a mohl jsem s nimi vydat všechna alba Carnal Savagery, protože to mezi námi funguje tak dobře.
Znáš, posloucháš nějaké kapely z České republiky?
Právě jsem si objednal nové album Cannibal Corpse, nemůžu se dočkat, až ho uslyším. Jinak moc nesleduji nové death metalové kapely, ty starší to podle mého názoru dělají mnohem lépe.
Znáš, posloucháš nějaké kapely z České republiky?
Ne, omlouvám se. Kdysi jsem byl velkým fanouškem všech metalových žánrů, četl jsem všechny časopisy atd. Znal jsem všechna jména členů v kapelách a tak dále, ale s tím jsem už hodně dávno přestal. Dnes se tím vůbec nezatěžuji, nemám čas, mám malé děti. Když mám volno, věnuji ho tvorbě hudby a hraní na bicí.
Blížíme se k závěru a tak bych zkusil jednu více filozofickou otázku. Jak byste definovali styl zvaný švédský death metal? Čím pro vás tato hudba je a proč jste si vybrali právě tento styl?
Pedály HM-2 boss jsou to, co podle mého názoru vytváří švédský zvuk. A proto znovu říkám, že si nemyslím, že hrajeme typický švédský death metal, ale ať si každý myslí co chce.
Co chystají CARNAL SAVAGERY v nejbližších měsících?
9. dubna vychází „Fiendish“ a v květnu se vracíme do studia, abychom nahráli naše třetí album.
Děkuji za rozhovor a přeji spoustu prodaných nosičů, stovky šílených fanoušků a tuny dobrých nápadů.
Bouřka v noci vždy pročistí vzduch. Vyběhneš ven a těšíš se na studený déšť. Nastavíš tvář a čekáš. Odpočítáváš sekundy od blesku až po hřmění. Jenže to není bouřka, ale další bombardování. Elektrizující vzduch prořízne zvuk sirén. Běžíš do nebližšího sklepa a máš šílený strach. Tentokrát to není planý poplach, všechno kolem hoří. Mrtvá těla, ze sutin vylézají ranění. Nikdy si nepochopil, proč tahle válka začala. Touha po moci, po penězích? Je to jako vždycky, jsme nepoučitelní.
Válečný death metal se dá hrát mnoha způsoby. MEMORIAM patří mezi smečky, které dokáží atmosféru bojiště doslova zhmotnit. Poslouchám novinku "To the End" stále dokola a znovu se přede mnou odehrávají příběhy z války, které zažili mí předci. Pokaždé, když vyprávěli o bombardování, měli velký strach. Bombardér znovu vzlétl.
Dívám se na dokumenty ze starých bojišť a poslouchám u toho novinou desku "To the End". MEMORIAM pokračují tam, kde minule přestali. Ve starosvětském, klasickém a tradičním valivém death metalu, který jim koluje v krvi. Obal od Dana Seagraveho je opět úchvatný, ihned jsem si musel objednat tričko. Album je ošetřeno masivním, hutným a chladným zvukem (Russ Russell). Náhodě nebylo ponecháno nic a vy se tak můžete nechat přenést přímo doprostřed boje. Britové drží svoji death metalovou zástavu opět hrdě vztyčenou a dělají čest svému jménu i předchůdcům (BOLT THROWER, BENEDICTION). Nová deska pro mě ale není jen skvěle odvedeným řemeslem, nahrávka má v sobě pověstnou jiskru navíc, je heavy, drásá a pálí, žhne a zároveň je dle mého temnější, než předchozí počiny. Odehrává se převážně ve středním tempu a je neskutečně návyková. Jsem moc rád, že má člověk ještě v dnešní době nějaký záchytný bod ve vesmíru, na který je spolehnutí. Vždycky se mi líbilo, jakým způsobem MEMORIAM píší skladby. Sází na dobrý riff, na poctivost, jsou plně oddáni své věci. Sirény znovu křičí do ticha noci, z černých mraků právě vylétl další bombardér. Utíkám do krytu a kolem hoří země. Peklo opravdu existuje. Zničující, chladný death metal staré školy, který je definicí války!

War death metal can be played in many ways. MEMORIAM is one of the bands that can literally materialize the atmosphere of the battlefield. I listen to the new "To the End" over and over again, and the stories of war that my ancestors experienced take place in front of me again and again. Every time they talked about the bombing, they were very scared. The bomber took off again.
I watch documents from old battlefields and listen to the new album "To the End". MEMORIAM continue where they left off last time. In old-world, classical and traditional rolling death metal, which circulates in their blood. The cover by Dan Seagrave is breath-taking again, I had to order a T-shirt immediately. The British keep their death metal flag proudly raised again and honour their name and their predecessors (BOLT THROWER, BENEDICTION). But the new record is not just a great craft for me, the record has the famous extra spark in it, it is heavy, scratchy and burning, it burns and at the same time it is, in my opinion, darker than previous works. It takes place mostly at a medium tempo and is incredibly addictive. I am very glad that people still have a clue in the universe that can rely on today. I've always liked the way MEMORIAM writes songs. They bet on a good riff, on honesty, they are fully committed to their matter. The sirens are screaming again in the silence of the night, another bomber has just shot out of the black clouds. I run to the shelter and the ground is burning around me. Hell really does exist. The devastating, cold old death metal that is the definition of war!
Ráno se probudíš jako vždycky, smutný, že musíš vstávat. Dnes ti ale všichni připadají divní, zachmuření, naštvaní a zlí. Obrazovky v rukou se jim třesou víc než obvykle. Jakoby je někdo ovládal na dálku. Jdi a zabij! Dostali rozkaz. Vždycky jsem si myslel, že nás zničí nějaká nemoc nebo jaderný výbuch, ale nakonec jsme to my sami, kdo si podřežeme žíly. Nikdy jsme se neměli tak dobře, přesto toužíme po krvi.
Ráno se probudíš a z rozhlasu hraje na ulicích nová deska německých death metalistů TERMINAL CARNAGE. Potkáváš jen samé lidi s mrtvolným pohledem. Už dávno máš pocit, že apokalypsa začala. Zdravý rozum byl před lety pohřbený hluboko pod zem. Ještě, že nám zůstala stará, prašivá hudba. Poslední pozůstatek doby, kdy byl svět ještě v pořádku.
"The Sickening Rebirth" je velmi temným, nehumánním albem, které jsem poslouchal s velkou chutí. Pohřbilo mě zaživa ve stylu dávných nahrávek od AUTOPSY, NECROPGAGIA, CIANIDE, OBITUARY, VITAL REMAINS, MORGOTH, BOLT THROWER. Skladby mají neskutečně chladnou, nebál bych se napsat až melancholickou náladu a v některých momentech mi lehce připomínají finské death metalové legendy. TERMINAL CARNAGE přinášejí do podzemí zachmuřený smrtící kov, který sice vychází ze známých kořenů, ale také obsahuje kus sebe samého, vlastních nápadů. Němci mají svůj rukopis i výraz, což se v současnosti cení víc, než cokoliv jiného. Songy jsou plné zvláštního, ledového chvění, zvuk náležitě pálí a drásá a obal? Ten je krásnou ukázkou toho, co bude následovat, pokud se lidé budou chovat jako doposud. Už dnes večer vím, co si dám zítra do sluchátek, až vstanu do studeného, temného dne. Až pojedu tramvají a kolem mě budou zářit obrazovky plné zla. Hudba německých maniaků se mi otiskla do mozku, vytvořila v něm šílený obraz apokalypsy, která nás pravděpodobně čeká a nemine. Stačí se rozhlédnout kolem sebe. Ryzí death metal, který zmrazí vaše prokleté duše!

"The Sickening Rebirth" is a very dark, inhuman album that I listened to with great gusto. I was buried alive in the style of ancient recordings from AUTOPSY, NECROPGAGIA, CIANIDE, OBITUARY, VITAL REMAINS, MORGOTH, BOLT THROWER. The songs are incredibly cold, I wouldn't be afraid to write a melancholic mood and in some moments they remind me slightly of Finnish death metal legends. TERMINAL CARNAGE brings gloomy death metal underground, which comes from well-known roots, but also contains a piece of itself, its own ideas. The Germans have their own signature and expression, which is currently valued more than anything else. The songs are full of strange, icy vibrations, the sound burns and scratches properly and the cover? This is a beautiful example of what will follow if people behave as before. I already know tonight what I'll put on my headphones tomorrow when I get up on a cold, dark day. When I take the tram and the screens full of evil shine around me. The music of the German maniacs imprinted to my brain, creating in it a crazy image of the apocalypse that is probably waiting for us and will not pass. Just look around. Pure death metal that will freeze your cursed souls!

Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?
The project TERMINAL CARNAGE was started in winter 2019/2020 by myself - Stefan Walter (guitars, bass and vocals). The TERMINAL CARNAGE headquarters are in Wiesenttal, a small community in Upper Franconia, Germany.
The idea to start the project TERMINAL CARNAGE came up approximately one year after the split-up of ADORING HUMAN FLESH (AHF) the former band where I played guitar.
I had my own musical vision apart from AHF so I started to work on this by myself. At this point I was not able to convince a former band member during the song writing process, so I decided to compose and record the songs just by myself. Regarding style there were no limits as I have musical influences all across the metal genre prefering more extreme styles such as Death Metal. After having finished a bunch of songs I presented the recordings to Markus (former Drummer of AHF). Markus liked the song material and agreed to join TERMINAL CARNAGE. Our Death Metal-duo was now ready to take the next steps…
Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?
Guitars, bass and vocals I recorded in my homestudio (WARHEAD PRODUCTIONS, Wiesenttal/Germany) as mentioned before. The recordings and the mix was finished in spring 2020 just a few days before the first Corona-lockdown happened. The drums were played by Markus in the basement of his house while I was doing the recording job sitting in the corner of the room hitting the record button and drinking beer 😊
The whole drum recording took place in various sessions and was finished end of summer 2020. After that Markus and me worked on final arrangements and at one point reached the state of mutual satisfaction regarding the mix. Now a mastering engineer was needed to give THE SICKENING REBIRTH the required, final polish. The choice for the mastering job fell on Simon Hammer (REBOUND STUDIO, Nuremberg) after having received a great sounding test track from Simon. All the recorded tracks were shared virtually with the mastering studio due to Corona and the shit involved, such as dusk-to-dawn curfew, etc.
Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?
Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?
How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
Yes, TERMINAL CARNAGE definitely needed a label to release THE SICKENING REBIRTH as we are not a band in the common sense. Having various mastered test tracks of the album available those were sent to various labels. Actually we were surprised about the positive feedback from the labels. Nevertheless, the choice to release THE SICKENING REBIRTH fell on GREAT DANE RECORDS in France. Raphael, the guy from GREAT DANE RECORDS who is in charge for us, is a companionable partner, music fan and death metal maniac as we are. In a first step GREAT DANE RECORDS offered us to release the album as digipak CD and digital download. The digipak CD is limited to 500 copies, but we are confident that there is more to come…
GREAT DANE does a really good job, takes care of the promotion and all the other issues. We are happy with our partnership and would like to send a big ‘THANK YOU’ to Raphael and GREAT DANE RECORDS.
Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?
I wrote the lyrics after the guitar tracks were finished. Peace by peace and word by word - writing the lyrics for me is an important and time consuming job. A lot of passion, personal thoughts and opinions fill my lyrics... the world surrounding us delivers enough material for death metal lyrics.
Supernatural, spiritual or religious subjects are not the core issues here. Some lyrics are serious, some you can see with a wink of the eye but always with a certain, true or at least conceivable background.

The Sickening Rebirth:
Is actually a song about nationalism gaining ground worldwide and that humanity failed to learn from history in this regard.
Dead Mass:
In this song our society is described as braindead mass living to consume, kneel before the establishment and as long as the "dead mass" is fed they do not revolt.
Bereaved Cry:
This song desribes a war scenery, soldiers that die and the bereaved suffering at home while warmongers lough. It is an anti-war song.
Chaos The New World Order:
As the title of the song says, we live in a world where politicians spread lies, rules are broken, facts are denied and so on...
The individual is powerless and has to accept the nuisance while the world is sinking in total chaos.
Involuntary Organ Donor:
Is a song about a person who sold his own soul and organs for cash. It is a song about illegal organ trade.
Least Evil:
In this song warfare in times of digitalisation is picked as central theme. Digitalization controls life and we became totally dependendent on internet and the digital world.
So what will happen if this environment is switched off ?
Years Of Demise:
This song is actually a hold out slogan. Hard times are desribed, the struggle for survival and a light at the end of the tunnel. So after hard times, better times will follow.
Obituary After Death:
This song is about people who try to gain as much might and money as possible, maybe thinking they are immortal. But life is finite and all that remains will be the obituary...
Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
The graphics including logo I created by myself. I think these things are important for a metal and especially a death metal band and should somehow reflect the musical character of a band.
I tried my best and my intention was/is that everything, so the whole album, looks and feels as it would be from the same mould. Of course I would love to just concentrate on the musical part of TERMINAL CARNAGE but somehow it is also fun to work on the look...
Social networks and the internet itself eliminated the age of tape trading and print paper magazines regarding music publications beside other... well, to speak for myself – I am ‚old-school‘, so quess what I prefer... I like to have something in my hands!
On the other hand it’s fascinating how people interact nowadays. The speed news and publications are spread all around the globe is amazing. Fact is, in this Corona-crisis a publication such as THE SICKENING REBIRTH would not have been possible without the internet and the possibilities therein...
Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?
‚Idolise‘ is maybe the wrong word. To speak for myself, my influences are so widely diversified that I have to smile if my music is compared to one or two specific bands. Of course there are bands out there who influenced the way I play guitar but on the other hand I never really played cover songs or was nailed to a certain style of playing... so in a way, it’s my way!
But of course it’s important to have a comparison to describe music to somebody who never heard it before. In case of TERMINAL CARNAGE I would say and also support people who have the opinion we sound like a mixture of BOLT THROWER, OBITUARY and ASPHYX. Due to some melodies also PARADISE LOST I would like to mention... AUTOPSY, NECROPHAGIA, MONSTROSITY, MORBID ANGEL and CELTIC FROST are also influencing our music if I quote people desribing our style. Somebody recently said we sound like the TYPE O NEGATIVE of Death Metal which I think is funny...
How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
Gigs under the banner TERMINAL CARNAGE have never been played as we are acting as a duo at the moment. This won’t change as long as there is no way to come together as a band and clubs are closed anyway due to Corona. Let’s see if we come up with a live line-up at one point.
Of course Markus and me played in various bands before and always enjoyed playing live. I prefer playing festivals as this is always something special but of course a good club show sometimes kicks ass even more...
What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
Never change a running system – first of all, we will continue like this. I write the songs, torture the strings and my throat and Markus beats the hell out of his drums.
Our plan is to release our 2nd album beginning 2022. Most songs are written and we are in the middle of the recording phase. The album title is fixed and the artwork in preparation... if you like THE SICKENING REBIRTH prepare for a whole lot more!

Pokud rádi a často propadáte nihilismu, neváhejte ani chvilku. Na novince "What a Time to Be Alive" se odehrávají zakázaná jatka, hnusná a špinavá kafilerie, která vás rozemele na prach.
Jedná se o druhé (mimochodem prvotina je také vynikající) album a také o značně morbidní zážitek. Někdy přemýšlím, kde se v lidech bere tolik zla, odkud vlastně přichází. Jestli z jejich nitra a nebo jsou to jen přirozené pudy. Australané sice nedávají na mé otázky odpovědi, ale rozhodně museli nahrávat v pravém, bolestivém pekle. Skladby totiž mají ďábelskou atmosféru, jsou v nich obsaženy zajímavé nápady a vy si tak můžete naplno vychutnat opravdové setkání se smrtí.
Základem tvorby WEREWOLVES je death metal, ale kapela se nebrání ani výletům k thrashi, blacku a letos mají některé momenty i nádech grindu nebo techniky. Zvuk je masivní, mohutný a chladný zároveň. Pro mě osobně je pak asi nejdůležitější, že se nejedná jen o skvělé talentované muzikanty, ale také dokáží napsat motivy, které se mi doslova zadírají pod kůži. Opravdu stojím u špinavé stoky, ve které plavou jako nějaké výčitky, všechny zlé lidské činy. Jsme někdy predátoři, kteří neznají slitování. Nebereme ohledy na jiné druhy. Odpadává nám od zubů zkažené maso, brodíme se po kolena ve vlastní krvi. Podobný pocit mám i z desky "What a Time to Be Alive". Je pro mě nastaveným zrcadlem v pekle, kusem shnilé hudby, ke které se budu rád a často vracet. Stylový obal vše jen krásně podtrhuje. WEREWOLVES vydali komplexní dílo pro všechny fanoušky extrémního metalu, obdivovatele dlouhých stínů a starodávných okultních rituálů. Nemělo by chybět ve sbírce žádného opravdového nihilisty. Nové album je surovou a syrovou odpovědí na ozvěny ze záhrobí. K dokonalosti nabroušený nůž, který bude použit pro oběť. Tak vnímám desku já. Démonický black death metal, který vás spálí na popel!

Pus, pieces of roughly chopped bodies, stench and darkness. If you like and often succumb to nihilism, do not hesitate for a moment. The new album "What a Time to Be Alive" takes place a forbidden slaughterhouse, a disgusting and dirty rendering plant, which will grind you to dust.
This is the second (by the way, the first album is also excellent) album and also a very morbid experience. Sometimes I wonder where so much evil comes from people, where it actually comes from. Whether from within them or they are just natural instincts. The Australians don't give answers to my questions, but they definitely had to record in a real, painful hell. The songs have a devilish atmosphere, they contain interesting ideas and you can fully enjoy a real encounter with death.
The basis of WEREWOLVES 'work is death metal, but the band does not resist trips to thrash, black and this year they have some moments and a touch of grind or technique. The sound is massive, powerful and cool at the same time. For me personally, perhaps the most important thing is that they are not only great talented musicians, but they can also write motifs that literally get under my skin. I really stand by a dirty sewer, in which all evil human deeds float like some remorse. We are sometimes predators who do not know mercy. We do not take into account other species. Corrupt flesh falls from our teeth, we wade to our knees in our own blood. I have a similar feeling from the album "What a Time to Be Alive". It is a mirror set for me in hell, a piece of rotten music to which I will gladly and often return. The stylish cover only beautifully underlines everything. WEREWOLVES have released a comprehensive work for all fans of extreme metal, admirers of long shadows and ancient occult rituals. It should not be missing in the collection of any true nihilist. The new album is a raw and response to echoes from the graveyard. A sharpened knife to perfection that will be used for the victim. That's how I perceive the record. Demonic black death metal that will burn you to ashes!
