Stojím nad propastí a dívám se do hlubiny. Mám skočit, vznášet se a nechat se rozbít na tisíc kousků? Vážně o tom přemýšlím. Zažil a viděl jsem už všechno a každodenní stereotyp mě neskutečně ubíjí. Život a nebo smrt? Co bude, až zemřeme? Opravdu potkám duše svých kamarádů? Nebo se jenom rozplynu v nicotě. Ještě ne, tentokrát se vracím zpátky do města a přemýšlím o tom, co mě pořád láká na tom, překračovat hranice. Poslouchám debutové album švédských maniaků FOR THE PYRES.

Ti jsou naprosto oddáni tradičnímu death metalu z jejich země. Surové a ostré pasáže se střídají s chladnými melodiemi. Chrastí se tu s pytlem plným shnilých kostí a činěno je to velmi oddaně, opravdově, uvěřitelně a s jasnou a zřetelnou jiskrou v oku. Když novinku "At the Pyres of Sin" poslouchám, tak mám pocit, že padám do hlubiny.

Zvuk považuji za velmi povedený. Je masivní, mrazivý a všechny nástroje i vokál jsou opravdu dobře čitelné. FOR THE PYRES na to jdou ostře, nekompromisně, nahrávka nepostrádá potřebný tlak i energii, ale nezapomínají ani na tmu a mráz. Tématem textů jsou válka, chaos i všeobjímající smrt. Nejvíc jsem si užíval tuhle desku v momentech, když se venku setmělo a mě popadlo neodbytné nutkání vyrazit ven. Ve starých špinavých ulicích, na hřbitově, na kterém jsou pochováni vojáci všech světových válek, v márnicích, v plesnivých sklepeních a nebo nad propastí, zde vyniklo tohle album nejvíce. Pánové nepřinášejí nic nového, ani převratného, nijak tento styl neposouvají, ale osobně mi to nevadí. Nejedná se totiž jenom o dobře odvedené řemeslo, ve skladbách je něco navíc, krvavé kořeny, pradávný děs, který máme všichni u tohoto stylu všichni tolik rádi. A tak se zase jednou kývám spokojeně do rytmu, jako starý hrobník, který viděl a slyšel už skoro všechno. Jen tak něco mě nepřekvapí a užívám si dnešní dobu, kdy si můžete ochutnávat z pestré palety různých kapel. FOR THE PYRES letos debutují a nutno rovnou dodat, že to vůbec není znát. Pokud by nové album vydala nějaká o hodně slavnější smečka, možná byste to ani nepoznali. Plamen byl znovu zažehnut, hoří jasně a spálí vás na popel. Troufám si tvrdit, že novinka je velmi povedenou záležitostí pro všechny pravověrné. Stačí jen ochutnat. Stojím nad propastí a dívám se do hlubiny. Mám skočit, vznášet se a nechat se rozbít na tisíc kousků? Vážně o tom přemýšlím. Zažil a viděl jsem už všechno a každodenní stereotyp mě neskutečně ubíjí. Život a nebo smrt? Co bude, až zemřeme? Nahrubo nasekaný, pravověrný švédský death metal s krvavě temnou atmosférou! Popraskají vám všechny kosti v těle!

They are completely devoted to traditional death metal from their country. Raw and sharp passages alternate with cold melodies. They rattle around with a bag full of rotten bones, and they do it with great devotion, sincerity, believability, and a clear and distinct sparkle in their eyes. When I listen to the new album "At the Pyres of Sin", I feel like I'm falling into the depths.

I consider the sound to be very well done. It is massive, chilling, and all the instruments and vocals are really easy to hear. FOR THE PYRES go at it sharply, uncompromisingly, and the recording does not lack the necessary pressure and energy, but they do not forget about darkness and frost either. The lyrics deal with war, chaos, and all-encompassing death. I enjoyed this album the most when it got dark outside and I was seized by an irresistible urge to go out. In old, dirty streets, in a cemetery where soldiers from all the world wars are buried, in morgues, in moldy cellars, or above an abyss, this album stood out the most. The guys don't bring anything new or revolutionary, they don't push the style forward in any way, but personally, I don't mind. It's not just a job well done, there's something extra in the songs, bloody roots, ancient horror, which we all love so much about this style. And so, once again, I nod contentedly to the rhythm, like an old gravedigger who has seen and heard almost everything. Nothing surprises me anymore, and I enjoy the present day, when you can sample from a diverse range of bands. FOR THE PYRES are making their debut this year, and it must be said that you wouldn't know it. If a much more famous band had released this new album, you might not even recognize it. The flame has been rekindled, it burns brightly and will burn you to ashes. I dare say that the new album is a very successful affair for all true believers. Just give it a try.
