Staré dobré časy se už nikdy nevrátí. A nebo ano? Když poslouchám novinku "Death Squad Chronicles" od německých veteránů DARKNESS, tak mám chvílemi pocit, že ano. Jsem znovu mladý, plný síly. Holky kolem jsou nějak svůdnější než normálně, pivo mi víc chutná a muzika je ostrá jako čerstvě nabroušený skalpel. Skláním své šediny nad dalším půllitrem a znovu a znovu mačkám play. Z reproduktorů ke mě proudí pravověrný, ortodoxní a jediný ryzí německý thrash metal. Kurva, to má ale sílu, mlátím pěstí do stolu a všichni se na mě dívají jako na starého blázna.
Možná jím i sem, ale kdyby tak věděli, kdyby tak zažili to co já. Tolik vzpomínek, tolik zážitků, které vydají na desítku životů. Parta na kraji sídliště, smečka thrashových psů. Kazeťák na ramenou, patřil jsem mezi ostatní, byl členem, co si také kopíroval dokola kazety plné ostrých riffů. DARKNESS byli pro mě vždy etalonem toho, co mám na tomto stylu tolik rád. Letošní songy, které byly znovu nahrány, se mi postupně zadírají pod kůži, do podvědomí. Pořádám doma svůj vlastní soukromý mosh-pit. Nostalgie jako prase!
U thrash metalu jsem měl vždycky rád takovou tu třaskavou směs ve skladbách. Sílu a tlak. Můžete mi někdo vysvětlit, jak můžou mít tihle veteráni víc energie než spousta současných mladých skupin? Hej, brácho, tohle je o srdci, říkával jeden můj kamarád (dej mu pánbůh lehkou zemi). Měl jako vždycky pravdu. Skladby jiskří, vokál je jedovatý a ostrý jako břitva, bicí zabíjejí. Motivy jsou velmi dobře napsány, pamatuji si je již po několika přehráních. Jsem díky této nahrávce ve svém světě, kterému dávno rozumí už jen zasvěcení. DARKNESS jsou true a ortodoxní ze své podstaty. Na rozdíl od spousty svých kolegů si ale zachovali schopnost zaujmout, nakopat nám zadky, trefit se přímo na solar plexus, jsou svěží, zajímaví a hlavně vůbec nenudí. Mnohé napoví i rozhovor, který je odkazován spolu s recenzemi dole pod dnešním článkem. Zkrátka a dobře, pokud máte plné zuby současné plastové produkce, umělé inteligence, růžových reklam, válek, debilních politiků, pokud vás štve šéf v práci a máte neodbytný pocit, že vám nikdo nerozumí jako před třiceti lety, jste tu správně. Poslouchat "Death Squad Chronicles" je jako potkat smečku rozzuřených psů na špinavé ulici. Vrací se mi opravdu spousta vzpomínek a zážitků. Jsme stejné krve, já i tahle kapela. Vlastně není nutné ani dodávat ani nic dalšího. Nemám ani čas. Raději jsem v mosh-pitu. Sedlo si zde všechno tak nějak přirozeně dohromady. Masivní, řezající zvuk, stylový motiv na obalu, ale hlavně nápady, které se mi doslova zadřely do podvědomí. Zničující, divoký a nespoutaný německý thrash metal té nejvyšší kvality! Album, které trhá řetězy!

Maybe I am, but if only they knew, if only they had experienced what I have. So many memories, so many experiences that are worth ten lifetimes. A gang on the edge of the housing estate, a pack of thrash dogs. With a cassette player on my shoulders, I was one of the others, a member who also copied cassettes full of sharp riffs over and over again. DARKNESS has always been the benchmark for what I love so much about this style. This year's songs, which have been re-recorded, are gradually getting under my skin, into my subconscious. I'm organizing my own private mosh pit at home. Nostalgia like crazy!
When it comes to thrash metal, I've always liked that explosive mix in songs. Power and pressure. Can someone explain to me how these veterans can have more energy than a lot of today's young bands? Hey, bro, it's all about heart, a friend of mine used to say (may he rest in peace). As always, he was right. The songs sparkle, the vocals are venomous and razor sharp, the drums are killer. The motifs are very well written, I remember them after just a few plays. Thanks to this recording, I am in my own world, which only the initiated have long understood. DARKNESS are true and orthodox in their essence. Unlike many of their colleagues, however, they have retained the ability to captivate, kick our asses, hit us right in the solar plexus. They are fresh, interesting, and above all, never boring. The interview linked below today's article along with the reviews will tell you a lot. In short, if you're fed up with today's plastic production, artificial intelligence, pink advertisements, wars, stupid politicians, if your boss at work annoys you and you have the nagging feeling that no one understands you like they did thirty years ago, you've come to the right place. Listening to "Death Squad Chronicles" is like encountering a pack of angry dogs on a dirty street. It brings back a lot of memories and experiences. This band and I are cut from the same cloth. There's really nothing more to add. I don't even have time. I'd rather be in the mosh pit. Everything just fell into place naturally here. Massive, cutting sound, stylish cover art, but most importantly, ideas that literally stuck in my subconscious. Devastating, wild, and unrestrained German thrash metal of the highest quality! An album that breaks chains!
