Jakoby se svět najednou zastavil. Chaos, který tě provázel poslední roky, byl pryč. Tady, na hřbitově, na kterém jsou pochováni tví předci i kamarádi, ses najednou ocitl v jiné dimenzi. Jsou chvíle v životě člověka, které nejdou moc popsat. Možná je to bůh, satan nebo všemocný vesmír, který ti dal temné znamení. Přemýšleli jste někdy nad tím, co se stane, až zemřete? Rozpadnete se v prach? Zmizíte v temnotě? Převtělíte se v démona? Otázek je mnoho a zajímavé je, že mi v hlavě naskakují pokaždé, když poslouchám nějaké album od amerických tmářů SUFFERING HOUR. Letos přicházejí s novým EP a nutno rovnou dodat, že se jedná o velmi povedené dílo po všech stránkách.
Skladby jsou možná trošku kratší, surovější, útočnější, přímější, než jsme byli poslední roky u téhle smečky zvyklí, ale nenechte se mýlit, kapela rozhodně nijak nezměnila svůj směr. Jen je díky kratšímu formátu divočejší. Alespoň tak na mě novinka "Impelling Rebirth" působí.
Stále zde potkáte pestrou a zajímavě složenou směsici black metalu a kruté smrti. S typických rukopisem téhle smečky, s lehkými progresivními a avantgardními prvky. Potkávají se zde jak vlivy tradičních kapel jako jsou MORBID ANGEL, INCANTATION, MAYHEM, IMMOLATION, tak i novější přístup k absolutní temnotě (MGLA, AUROCH, DEASPELL OMEGA, THE CHASM, ULCERATE). To vše je potom poskvrněno zkaženou krví, chaosem, špínou a hlavně skvělými morbidními nápady. V hudbě SUFFERING HOUR vždy bylo, je a se vší pravděpodobností i bude něco neklidného, zvláštního, jinakého. Rovnou dodávám, že pro "běžného" fanouška bude možná poslech zpočátku až "nepříjemný". I nové EP totiž vyžaduje bohatou fantazii, otevřenou mysl a schopnost se nechat přikovat na zeď i něčím odlišným, než je většinou běžné. Zatímco spousta současných skupin volí spíše tradičnější pojetí a mnohdy se stávají pouze obyčejnými kopiemi, u téhle smečky to rozhodně neplatí. Skladby jsou opět skvěle napsány a složeny, mají v sobě pověstný drive a sílu, takovou tu záhrobní hrubost, která se zde potkává s morbidní hravostí. Ono je vlastně velmi těžké nějak definovat to, jak tihle tmáři hrají, proto bych vám rozhodně doporučil, abyste si poslechli ukázky a nechali na sebe vše jen tak působit. Možná se potom, stejně jako já, ocitnete na tichém hřbitově, usednete ke hrobům svých předků a budete přemýšlet o smrtelnosti. "Impelling Rebirth" má samozřejmě skvělý zvuk (Adam Tucker - mastering). Za stylový a povedený považuji i motiv na obalu. Zkrátka a dobře, i letos je kapela ve vynikající formě a jejich novinka vás spálí na popel! Jakoby se svět najednou zastavil. Chaos, který mě provázel poslední roky, byl najednou pryč. Nahrubo nasekaný, surový black death metal s příměsí zkažené krve! Démonická hudba, která není z tohoto světa!

It was as if the world had suddenly stopped. The chaos that had accompanied you in recent years was gone. Here, in the cemetery where your ancestors and friends are buried, you suddenly found yourself in another dimension. There are moments in a person's life that are difficult to describe. Maybe it was God, Satan, or the almighty universe that gave you a dark sign. Have you ever wondered what will happen when you die? Will you crumble into dust? Will you disappear into darkness? Will you be reborn as a demon? There are many questions, and interestingly, they pop into my head every time I listen to an album by the American dark metal band SUFFERING HOUR. This year, they are releasing a new EP, and it must be said right away that it is a very successful work in every respect.
The songs may be a little shorter, rawer, more aggressive, and more direct than we have been accustomed to from this band in recent years, but make no mistake, the band has definitely not changed its direction. It's just wilder thanks to the shorter format. At least that's how the new album "Impelling Rebirth" strikes me.
You will still encounter a colorful and interesting mix of black metal and brutal death metal here. With the typical signature of this band, with light progressive and avant-garde elements. You will find influences from traditional bands such as MORBID ANGEL, INCANTATION, MAYHEM, IMMOLATION, as well as a newer approach to absolute darkness (MGLA, AUROCH, DEASPELL OMEGA, THE CHASM, ULCERATE). All of this is then tainted with corrupted blood, chaos, filth, and, above all, great morbid ideas. There has always been, is, and will most likely continue to be something unsettling, strange, and different about SUFFERING HOUR's music. I should add that for the "average" fan, listening to it may be "unpleasant" at first. The new EP requires a rich imagination, an open mind, and the ability to be captivated by something different from what is usually common. While many current bands choose a more traditional approach and often become mere copies, this is definitely not the case with this pack. The songs are once again brilliantly written and composed, with their trademark drive and power, that otherworldly rawness that meets morbid playfulness. It's actually very difficult to define how these dark musicians play, so I would definitely recommend that you listen to the samples and just let it all sink in. Perhaps then, like me, you will find yourself in a quiet cemetery, sitting by the graves of your ancestors and thinking about mortality. "Impelling Rebirth" has a great sound, of course (Adam Tucker - mastering). I also consider the cover art to be stylish and well done. In short, the band is in excellent form again this year, and their new album will burn you to ashes! It was as if the world had suddenly stopped. The chaos that had accompanied me in recent years was suddenly gone. Roughly chopped, raw black death metal with a mixture of rotten blood! Demonic music that is not of this world!
