Nejdřív si vůbec netušil, odkud strach a bolest přicházejí. Trápil ses dlouhé roky ve stínu, s tvářemi rozdrásanými do krve. Samota duše, krutost a chlad, které tě obklopovaly se pomalu dostávaly do tvého podvědomí. Vyhledával jsi místa, kde se stalo něco zlého, abys načerpal energii do dalšího dne. Stal si se prokletým. Život již nikdy nebude takový, jako býval. Ztrácíš se v nicotě a marně hledáš nějaký záchytný bod. Nakonec stejně umřeme a rozplyneme se jako mlha nad hřbitovem.

ABYSMAL DESCENT pocházejí z Belgie a hrají pravověrný death metal obestřený tmou a pevnými pavučinami ze záhrobí. Když jsem novinku slyšel poprvé, tak venku přicházela jedna z posledních podzimních bouřek. Cítil jsem takové to zvláštní napětí. Potom zazněl první riff, motiv a já byl najednou ztracen. Již od počátku považuji tohle album za skvělé po všech stránkách.

Jednotlivé motivy jsou zde velmi propracované, zlé, děsivé, chladné a zcela podmanivé. Co se týká formálních věcí, jako jsou motiv na obalu a surový zvuk, potom si můžete být jistí, že je vše v nejlepším pořádku. Kapela je složena ze samých zkušených muzikantů, kteří mají za sebou morbidní práci třeba v takových Dehuman, Echo Solar Void, Putrid Offal, Saqra's Cult. Můžete si být tedy absolutně jisti, že dostanete potřebnou kvalitu. Smrt je při poslechu velmi blízko a zabíjí se zde hudbou spíše tradičním, klasickým způsobem. Belgičané se volně inspirovali třeba u takových IMMOLATION, MORBID ANGEL, INCANTATION,, DEAD CONGREAGATION, DRAWN AND QUARTERED. Na pevných základech jsou potom vystavěny velmi zajímavé a neotřelé kompozice. Navíc je tu ještě jedna, pro mě zásadní věc. Nová nahrávka se opravdu velmi dobře poslouchá, sama leze do hlavy a zůstává po ní hluboká krvavá stopa. "Dismal Thoughts" si zkrátka užívám, jako starý hrobník a kývám spokojeně hlavou. Skladby v sobě obsahují potřebný drive, sílu, tlak i energii. Zároveň jsou zabalené do takové té tajemné aury, kterou mám u tohoto stylu tolik rád. Každý den, když jsem byl unavený z běžného stereotypu, jsem se zavíral do kobky na místním hřbitově. Zde vyniklo album nejvíce. Nejdřív jsem vůbec netušil, odkud strach a bolest přicházejí. The loneliness of your soul, the cruelty and coldness that surrounded you slowly seeped into your subconscious. You sought out places where something bad had happened to draw energy for the next day. ABYSMAL DESCENT come from Belgium and play orthodox death metal shrouded in darkness and thick cobwebs from the underworld. When I heard the new album for the first time, one of the last autumn storms was coming outside. I felt a strange tension. Then the first riff sounded, the motif, and I was suddenly lost. From the very beginning, I have considered this album to be great in every way.

The individual motifs are very elaborate, evil, terrifying, cold, and completely captivating. As for formal aspects, such as the cover art and raw sound, you can be sure that everything is in perfect order. The band consists of experienced musicians who have worked on morbid projects such as Dehuman, Echo Solar Void, Putrid Offal, and Saqra's Cult. So you can be absolutely sure that you will get the quality you need. Death is very close when listening, and it kills here in a rather traditional, classic way with music. The Belgians were loosely inspired by bands such as IMMOLATION, MORBID ANGEL, INCANTATION, DEAD CONGREAGATION, and DRAWN AND QUARTERED. Very interesting and original compositions are then built on solid foundations. In addition, there is one more thing that is essential for me. The new recording is really easy to listen to, it gets into your head and leaves a deep bloody mark. I simply enjoy "Dismal Thoughts" like an old gravedigger, nodding my head contentedly. The songs contain the necessary drive, power, pressure, and energy. At the same time, they are wrapped in that mysterious aura that I love so much about this style. Every day, when I was tired of the daily grind, I would lock myself in a cellar at the local cemetery. That's where the album stood out the most.
