Ztraceni v čase pochodujeme jedním směrem. Na konci cesty nás čeká smrt, bolest a utrpení. Jako by všeho nebylo dost během našeho života, ale možná jsou tyhle věci nutné, abychom pochopili sebe samotné, svoje vlastní prokleté duše. Filozofové, lékaři, matematici i kněží se snaží definovat samotnou podstatu našeho bytí již po staletí. Tohle všechno jde stranou, když slyším nějakou hudbu, která se mi líbí, která mě přesvědčí na svoji stranu, dostane se mi do hlavy, do podvědomí, do myšlenek. Jde se mi potom tou trnitou cestou, které říkáme život, přeci jen o něco lehčeji.

ATONE jsou kapela z Portugalska, která hraje funeral doom metal spíše tradičnějším způsobem. Dlouhé táhlé melodie se zde potkávají s nekonečným smutkem, bolestí a utrpením. Jakoby pánové ohlodali vše až na dřeň, až do morku kostí. Zahaleni do krvavé mlhy kráčíme dál světem, který hoří. Našlapujeme opatrně, abychom nenarušili koloběh smrti. Umíráme osamoceni, v levných dřevěných rakvích.

Kapela z krásného města, opředeného legendami, z Lisabonu, letos přichází se svým debutem. Nutno rovnou dodat, že se jedná o album, které je na povrchu chladné, nebál abych se napsat mrazivé a temné. Uvnitř v něm ale těká takový zvláštní neklid, který mám u tohoto stylu tolik rád. Ve světě, který se neustále zrychluje a někdy mám pocit, že se uvaří v děsivé spirále, jsou chvilky zastavení, spočinutí, relaxace, zamyšlení, velmi vzácné. Přiznám se bez mučení, že nové album "Rebirth in Despair" na mě má až terapeutický účinek. Je jako pradávné mantry, které když opakujete, tak se stanete klidnějšími, lepšími, čistšími. Mám rád staré chrámy, kostely, opuštěné hřbitovy, temné katakomby a když tuhle nahrávku poslouchám, tak se na těchto magických místech procházím, toulám se naším i oním světem, jsem součástí něčeho většího, neuchopitelnějšího, jako je hudba. Stylově lze tuhle smečku s klidem přiřadit mezi kapely typu ESOTERIC, EVOKEN, SHAPE OF DESPAIR, ale to není zase tolik důležité. Hlavní je pro mě to, že mezi mnou a portugalskými tmáři došlo ke vzájemnému přenosu emocí, energie. Když píšu tuhle recenzi, tak je venku ještě tma a les za naším domem se pomalu probouzí. Přízraky se vrací do stínů a démoni šeptají děsivá slova bolesti. Vlastně by se dalo také napsat, že věřím kapele každý tón, úder bicích, výkřik do tmy. Mám asi jako každý z vás strach ze smrti, z toho, co přijde potom a také trošku z toho, co tu po mě jednou zůstane. Album se mi dostalo hluboko do podvědomí a troufám si tvrdit, že tam ještě jeho stopu jen tak nevymažu, vlastně ani nechci. Ztraceni v čase pochodujeme jedním směrem. Na konci cesty nás čeká smrt, bolest a utrpení. Temný, chladný, uhrančivý funeral doom death metalový obřad pro vyvolávání vlastních démonů! Hudba z onoho světa!

Lost in time, we march in one direction. At the end of the road, death, pain, and suffering await us. As if there weren’t enough of it all during our lives, but perhaps these things are necessary for us to understand ourselves, our own damned souls. Philosophers, doctors, mathematicians, and priests have been trying to define the very essence of our existence for centuries. All of this fades away when I hear music that I like, that wins me over, that gets into my head, my subconscious, my thoughts. Then the thorny path we call life becomes a little easier to walk.

ATONE is a band from Portugal that plays funeral doom metal in a more traditional style. Long, drawn-out melodies meet endless sorrow, pain, and suffering here. It’s as if these gentlemen have gnawed everything down to the core, right to the marrow of the bones. Shrouded in a bloody fog, we walk on through a world that is burning. We tread carefully so as not to disturb the cycle of death. We die alone, in cheap wooden coffins.

A band from the beautiful, legend-shrouded city of Lisbon is releasing its debut album this year. It’s worth noting right away that this is an album that, on the surface, feels cold I wouldn’t hesitate to call it chilling and dark. But inside, there’s a strange restlessness that I love so much about this style. In a world that’s constantly speeding up and sometimes feels like it’s boiling in a terrifying spiral moments of pause, rest, relaxation, and reflection are very rare. I’ll admit without hesitation that the new album “Rebirth in Despair” has an almost therapeutic effect on me. It’s like ancient mantras when you repeat them, you become calmer, better, purer. I love old temples, churches, abandoned cemeteries, dark catacombs, and when I listen to this recording, I find myself walking through these magical places, wandering through this world and the next; I am part of something greater, something more elusive, like music. Stylistically, this band can easily be classified alongside groups like ESOTERIC, EVOKEN, and SHAPE OF DESPAIR, but that isn’t really all that important. What matters most to me is that there was a mutual exchange of emotions and energy between me and these Portuguese dark masters. As I write this review, it’s still dark outside and the forest behind our house is slowly waking up. Ghosts are returning to the shadows and demons are whispering terrifying words of pain. In fact, I could also say that I believe every note, every drumbeat, every scream into the darkness from this band. Like probably all of you, I’m afraid of death, of what comes after, and also a little bit of what will be left behind once I’m gone. The album has seeped deep into my subconscious, and I dare say I won’t be erasing its mark anytime soon in fact, I don’t even want to. Lost in time, we march in one direction. At the end of the journey, death, pain, and suffering await us. A dark, cold, mesmerizing funeral doom death metal ritual for summoning one’s own demons! Music from the other world!
