Během posledních nocí se probudím pokaždé s podivným pocitem, že tu někdo je. Hlídám starou márnici plnou mrtvých těl a slyším tiché, sotva zřetelné klepání. Obleču se, vyběhnu ven, ale tam nikdo není. Ztrácím se v děsivých snech, dávno už nevím, co je realita. Slýchávám šepot nemrtvých, kolem nohou se mi plazí jedovatí hadi. Smrt sedí ve stínu a usmívá se. Není divu, slovenská kapela s příznačným názvem HROB vydává své debutové album. Zapínám play na svém přehrávači a ocitám se v krvavé mlze.
Pánové mají na svém koně ještě demonahrávku z roku 2023, kterou vám také doporučuji. Určitě si ji poslechněte, uděláte si o kapele ještě jasnější názor. Rovnou dodám, že pro podobný, temný a chladný doom death metal s plesnivou atmosférou rozkládajících se těl mám slabost již od svého mládí, od devadesátých let minulého století, kdy se formoval můj hudební vkus. Slovenští tmáři se vrátili po časové ose zpět, aby exhumovali ty nejkrásnější hrobky. A dělají to s elegancí, vkusem, nadšením pro záhrobní věci člověka a naprosto uvěřitelně a autenticky.
Jasným důkazem budiž to, že mě při poslechu mrazí v kostech. Je to vlastně jednoduché, buď mě hudba baví a nebo nikoliv. Jsem už dost starý na to, abych podporoval a psal jenom o té, která mě dokáže přesvědčit a zaujmout. Na HROBU se mi líbí hlavně morbidně mrazivá atmosféra, kterou se jim povedlo vytvořit. Pánové sice nepřicházejí s ničím novým, ani převratným a hrají podle již známých postupů (PARADISE LOST, GOREMENT, DISEMBOWELMENT, ASPHYX), ale dělají to velmi inteligentně, zajímavě a přidávají do skladeb i spoustu svých nápadů a invence. Navštěvujete rádi staré hřbitovy, fascinují vás opuštěné kostely, líbí se vám rozbořené ruiny prokletých pohřebišť? Pokud odpovídáte ano, potom se vám bude líbit i letošní album "Brána Chladu". Navíc, tahle nahrávka splňuje ty nejvyšší požadavky i co se týká formálních věcí - zvuk je masivní, velmi dobře čitelný, obal zase se zajímavým motivem, který si určitě zapamatujete. Netuším, jestli jste někdy byli u exhumace nějakého starého hrobu, ale věřte tomu, že ani nemusíte. Tahle smečka vám zprostředkuje velmi podobný, ne-li stejný zážitek. Představte si děsivou noční můru, ve které se procházíte v krvavé mlze mezi náhrobky. Slyšíte jedovatý šepot nemrtvých. Z nedalekého hrobu právě vylézá nějaká postava. Má tvář od krve, odpadává jí maso od kostí. Ne, to není sen, to je krutá realita, to jenom stále dokola posloucháte tohle album. Přiznávám se, novinka se mi dostala do krve i do podvědomí. Omotala mě plesnivými pavučinami a já nemohu jinak, než vám ji doporučit. Mrazivý, drásavý, plesnivý doom death metalový sen! Album, u kterého začnete hnít zaživa!

Lately, I’ve been waking up every night with a strange feeling that someone is here. I’m guarding an old morgue full of dead bodies, and I hear a quiet, barely audible tapping. I get dressed, run outside, but there’s no one there. I lose myself in terrifying dreams; I no longer know what reality is. I hear the whispers of the undead; poisonous snakes slither around my feet. Death sits in the shadows and smiles. No wonder the Slovak band with the apt name HROB is releasing its debut album. I press play on my player and find myself in a bloody fog.
The guys also have a demo from 2023 under their belt, which I also recommend. Be sure to give it a listen; it’ll help you form an even clearer opinion of the band. I’ll add right away that I’ve had a soft spot for this kind of dark and cold doom death metal with a musty atmosphere of decaying bodies ever since my youth, back in the 1990s, when my musical taste was taking shape. The Slovak dark masters have traveled back in time to exhume the most beautiful tombs. And they do so with elegance, taste, enthusiasm for the afterlife, and in a completely believable and authentic way.
The clearest proof of this is that listening to them sends chills down my spine. It’s actually quite simple: either I enjoy the music or I don’t. I’m old enough now to support and write only about music that can win me over and capture my interest. What I like most about HROB is the morbidly chilling atmosphere they’ve managed to create. The guys aren’t bringing anything new or groundbreaking to the table, and they play according to familiar formulas (PARADISE LOST, GOREMENT, DISEMBOWELMENT, ASPHYX), but they do it very intelligently and interestingly, adding plenty of their own ideas and creativity to the songs. Do you enjoy visiting old cemeteries, are you fascinated by abandoned churches, and do you like the crumbling ruins of cursed burial grounds? If your answer is yes, then you’ll also love this year’s album, “Brána Chladu”. Moreover, this recording meets the highest standards in terms of production - the sound is massive and crystal clear, and the cover features an intriguing motif that you’re sure to remember. I don’t know if you’ve ever been to the exhumation of an old grave, but trust me, you don’t need to. This pack will give you a very similar, if not identical, experience. Imagine a terrifying nightmare in which you’re walking through a blood-red fog among gravestones. You hear the venomous whispers of the undead. A figure is just crawling out of a nearby grave. Its face is covered in blood, flesh is falling off its bones. No, this isn’t a dream it’s a cruel reality; you’re just listening to this album over and over again. I admit, this new release has seeped into my blood and my subconscious. It has wrapped me in moldy cobwebs, and I can’t help but recommend it to you. A frosty, harrowing, moldy doom death metal dream! An album that will make you rot alive!
