Jakoby nás všechny zahalila temnota a strach. Šílené dystopické vize starých autorů sci-fi se staly krutou skutečností. Přesvědčeni o své velikosti a zásadnosti, jsme zapomněli na lidskost, laskavost a obyčejnou lidskou dobrotu. Možná tu jsme ale jenom na chov a vetřelci z vesmíru se smějí našemu marnému snažení. Není přece možné a normální, aby se nějaký druh zabíjel, mučil a nenáviděl navzájem tak, jak to umíme jenom my, kteří se považujeme za vrchol evoluce. FURNACE pokračují ve vyprávění minule započatého příběhu.
Lidstvo tajně ovládá mimozemská civilizace. Žijeme v temnotě a pochodujeme ve stále stejných stopách, opakujeme chyby, s falešnými úsměvy na veřejnosti. Spojeni v jednu všemocnou síť sedáváme osamoceni ve svých kobkách a čekáme na smrt. FURNACE vždy patřili mezi kapely, které mě dokázaly přinutit pomocí své hudby přemýšlet. Mám již dlouhé roky rád Roggův kytarový rukopis, líbí se mi mrazivá, podmanivá atmosféra jejich nahrávek. Ta letošní není výjimkou. Opět mám obličej rozdrásaný do krve a křičím do tmy.
Netřeba diskutovat o velmi dobře čitelném, syrovém a řezajícím zvuku, je v naprostém pořádku. Osobně, když se dívám na motiv na obalu, tak si přijdu jako mladý kluk, když jsem začínal se starými sci-fi knihami. Vynikající stylová záležitost, kterou ocení všichni vášniví čtenáři. Opravdu si přijdu, jako bych se vrátil po časové ose zpět. Sedával jsem v rohu hospody, popíjel pivo a místo toho, abych studoval, tak jsem měl v sešitech dystopické romány a přemýšlel o zániku světa. Nevnímal jsem války kolem, lidskou hloupost, epidemie, jadernou hrozbu, smutek sociálních sítí. Četl jsem dál a poslouchal u toho severský death metal. Příliš se toho za všechny ty roky, které utekly kolem, nezměnilo. FURNACE jsou pro mě jistotou, záchytným bodem ve vesmíru. Pokaždé odvedou skvělou práci a letos se zase spokojeně kývám do rytmu a hledám temný kout, abych si mohl v klidu číst. Myšlenky nejdříve létají kolem mě, jako můry kolem ohně, aby nakonec spadly spálené na zem. Někde hluboko ve skladbách se ukrývá melancholie, nebál bych se napsat i smutek nad lidským osudem. Skladby jsou napsány velmi uvěřitelně, autenticky, zajímavě a mě nezbývá nic jiného, než vám letošní album "Echoes of a Distant Future" doporučit. Události posledních let, současné nastavení a podivnost světa, ničení a destrukce, hloupost a nenávist, všechno tohle se mi spojuje v jedno a i když je příběh téhle nahrávky fikcí, v mnohém řeže přímo do živého. V závěru je to vlastně opět velmi jednoduché. Hudba na mě funguje na sto procent a i když jsou někdy mraky kolem nás možná až příliš temné, prší z nich kyselá zkažená krev a oceány umírají v křeči, tak v ní cítím přesto naději. Poslouchejte pozorně! Fanoušci třeba EDGE OF SANITY, PARADISE LOST a dalších tmářů, mi má slova určitě potvrdí. Naléhavé, uhrančivé, děsivé a chladné dystopické vize! Death metal, který řeže do živého!

Convinced of our own greatness and importance, we have forgotten humanity, kindness, and simple human goodness. After all, it is neither possible nor normal for a species to kill, torture, and hate one another the way only we who consider ourselves the pinnacle of evolution can. Humanity is secretly controlled by an alien civilization. We live in darkness and march in the same old footsteps, repeating our mistakes, with fake smiles in public. United in one all-powerful network, we sit alone in our dungeons and wait for death. FURNACE have always been among the bands that have managed to make me think through their music. For many years now, I’ve loved Rogg’s guitar style; I like the chilling, captivating atmosphere of their recordings. This year’s release is no exception. Once again, my face is torn to shreds and I’m screaming into the darkness.
There’s no need to discuss the crystal clear, raw, and punchy sound it’s absolutely spot-on. Personally, when I look at the cover art, I feel like a young kid again, back when I first started reading old sci-fi books. An excellent, stylish piece that all avid readers will appreciate. I really feel like I’ve traveled back in time. I used to sit in the corner of a pub, sipping beer, and instead of studying, I’d have dystopian novels in my notebooks and ponder the end of the world. I didn’t notice the wars around me, human stupidity, epidemics, the nuclear threat, or the gloom of social media. I kept reading and listened to Nordic death metal while doing so. Not much has changed over all these years that have flown by. FURNACE is a certainty for me, an anchor in the universe. They always do a great job, and this year I’m happily nodding to the beat again and looking for a dark corner so I can read in peace. At first, my thoughts flutter around me like moths around a fire, only to eventually fall, burnt, to the ground. Somewhere deep within the songs lies melancholy I wouldn’t hesitate to call it sorrow over the human condition. The songs are written in a very believable, authentic, and interesting way, and I have no choice but to recommend this year’s album, "Echoes of a Distant Future", to you. The events of recent years, the current state of affairs and the strangeness of the world, ruin and destruction, stupidity and hatred all of this comes together for me into one, and even though the story of this record is fiction, in many ways it cuts right to the bone. In the end, it’s actually very simple again. The music works for me one hundred percent, and even though the clouds around us may sometimes be too dark, raining down sour, rotten blood, and the oceans are dying in agony, I still feel hope in it. Listen closely! Fans of bands like EDGE OF SANITY, PARADISE LOST, and other dark masters will surely agree with me. Urgent, mesmerizing, terrifying, and cold dystopian visions! Death metal that cuts to the bone!
