I po smrti měl krásnou tvář i tělo, které mu mohl každý závidět. Vypadal jako dokonale odlitá socha. Na jeho pohřeb ale nikdo nepřišel. Byl shnilý uvnitř. Když jste mu otevřeli vnitřnosti, tak byly zasažené snětí a nekonečným, ryzím zlem. Jakoby se do něj otiskly veškeré zlé činy, které kdy udělal. Když poslouchám nové album portlandských maniaků AENIGMATUM, tak také cítím zvláštní, jedovatý neklid. Jakoby se kolem mě hudba nejdříve omotala jako pevné pavučiny. Začala mě dusit, dostala se mi pod kůži, do žil, do podvědomí.

O téhle smečce jsem již jednou psal. Bylo to u příležitosti jejich předchozí nahrávky "Deconsecrate" z roku 2021. Pravdou je, že jsem se k minulému albu rád a často vracel. I letos pánové nadále rozvíjejí své nečisté myšlenky, posouvají svoje hranice a objevují nová temná zákoutí. Výsledkem je deska, která vás rozerve zevnitř.

Představte si špinavou řeku, která vytéká z vašeho města. Je plná beznaděje, nafouklých mrtvol, ztracených iluzí, smutku a nekonečné bolesti. Vy stojíte na břehu a něco vás neustále láká do ní vstoupit, zadržet dech, nechat se pohltit krvavými zpěněnými vlnami. Úplně přesně podobný pocit mám i z nového alba. Je syrové a neklidné uvnitř, na povrchu chladné, místy až odtažité. Když mu ale dáte čas, tak rozkryjete jednotlivé vrstvy a zjistíte, že je žhavé, jako čerstvě vyvěrající láva. Skladby v sobě mají takovou tu pradávno sílu, tlak a energii. Jsou velmi dobře napsané, složené, postupně gradují, nejdřív se kolem vás plazí jako klubko jedovatých hadů, aby pak zaútočili a trefili se přímo na samou podstatu smrti. Pokud máte rádi kapely typu ULCERATE, MORBUS CHRON, ABYSSAL, ALTARS, BLOOD INCANTATION, IMMOLATION, GORGUTS, ATHEIST, CYNIC, potom vězte, že jste zde správně. Je samozřejmě nutné, abyste měli bohatou fantazii a nechali se rádi a často unášet do jiných dimenzí, ale když tohle všechno sedne dohromady, tak je nové album v podstatě dokonale vybroušeným diamantem. Má barvu krve a když jej při poslechu rozbijete, tak zjistíte, že tahle kapela má nejen velký talent, ale také spoustu zajímavých nápadů, které umí prodat. Pochválit musím i všechny formální věci, jako je zvuk, motiv na obalu, celková produkce. Myslím si, troufám si tvrdit, že tuhle nahrávku nejvíc ocení pravověrní, kteří vědí své a rádi u hudby přemýšlejí. "Infinitude’s Passage" ve vás probudí ty nejtemnější myšlenky. Budete se procházet krvavou mlhou, potkávat své vlastní démony, abyste nakonec shnili zaživa. Drásající, syrově podmanivý black death metal, který vás rozerve na kusy! Album, které se vám dostane pod kůži i do podvědomí!

Even after death, he had a beautiful face and a body that anyone would envy. He looked like a perfectly cast statue. But no one came to his funeral. He was rotten on the inside. When you opened him up, his insides were ravaged by decay and endless, pure evil. It was as if every evil deed he had ever committed had been imprinted on him. When I listen to the new album by the Portland maniacs AENIGMATUM, I also feel a strange, poisonous unease. It’s as if the music first wrapped itself around me like a tight spiderweb. It began to suffocate me, getting under my skin, into my veins, into my subconscious.

I’ve written about this band once before. It was on the occasion of their previous release, “Deconsecrate,” from 2021. The truth is, I’ve happily and frequently revisited that album. This year, too, these gentlemen continue to develop their impure thoughts, push their boundaries, and explore new dark corners. The result is an album that will tear you apart from the inside.

Imagine a dirty river flowing out of your city. It’s full of hopelessness, bloated corpses, lost illusions, sadness, and endless pain. You’re standing on the bank, and something keeps luring you to step into it, hold your breath, and let yourself be swallowed up by the bloody, foaming waves. I get exactly the same feeling from this new album. It’s raw and restless on the inside, cold on the surface, and at times even aloof. But if you give it time, you’ll peel back the layers and discover that it’s red-hot, like freshly erupting lava. The songs possess that primal power, pressure, and energy. They’re very well written and composed, gradually building up at first slithering around you like a coil of venomous snakes, only to then strike and hit the very essence of death. If you like bands like ULCERATE, MORBUS CHRON, ABYSSAL, ALTARS, BLOOD INCANTATION, IMMOLATION, GORGUTS, ATHEIST, or CYNIC, then know that you’ve come to the right place. Of course, you need to have a vivid imagination and enjoy letting yourself be swept away into other dimensions often, but when all of this comes together, the new album is essentially a perfectly cut diamond. It’s the color of blood, and if you “break” it while listening, you’ll discover that this band not only has great talent but also plenty of interesting ideas that they know how to pull off. I must also praise all the technical aspects, such as the sound, the cover art, and the overall production. I think and I dare say that this recording will be most appreciated by true believers who know their stuff and like to reflect while listening to music. “Infinitude’s Passage” will awaken your darkest thoughts. You’ll wander through a blood-red fog, encounter your own demons, only to eventually rot away while still alive. Harrowing, raw, and captivating black death metal that will tear you to pieces! An album that will get under your skin and into your subconscious!
