Kývám na pozdrav starým zetlelým mrtvolám. Usedám ke stolu se svými vlastními démony. V kostech se mi dávno usadil chlad, poslouchám nové album švédské legendy SORCERY a spokojeně se usmívám. Zde, mezi nemrtvými, hluboko v podzemí, mezi temnými stíny, je mi stejně nejlépe. Maso je znovu odtrháváno od kostí a činěno jest tak s poctivou elegancí starých mistrů v oboru. Vždycky se mi líbil rukopis kapely a letos to platí opět na sto procent. Kombinace ostrých nekompromisních riffů a mrazivých melodií pro mě byla vždy jasnou definicí severského metalu.
Kapela si šla vždy vlastní cestou. Jsem starý věrný fanoušek a jako takový jsem velmi spokojený. Tihle gentlemani postupem let vybrousili svůj styl k dokonalosti. I nový zásek řeže tou správnou stranou nože. Melodie se mi postupně dostávají do žil, pod kůži i hluboko do podvědomí. Smrt, Satan i všichni démoni znovu tančí na mém hrobě. Není divu, hraje se zde hlavně pro ně.
Jakoby byly do skladeb otištěny nálady starých pohřebišť, temných katakomb i samotného záhrobí. Měl jsem tu čest psát recenze i na předešlá alba, mít s kapelou skvělý rozhovor (odkazy najdete dole po dnešním článkem) i vidět je před pár lety naživo. Tohle všechno ve mě zůstává a to se mi pak nesmíte divit, že je pro mě novinka jasnou definicí toho, co mám na death metalu rád. Surovost ale i melodiku, poctivý, masivní zvuk (William Blackmon (Isole, Scar Symmetry, Human Cull atd.)), stylový motiv na obalu, který vytvořil můj oblíbený malíř Juanjo Castellano. Tohle všechno dohromady, ale hlavně hudba samotná, mě pokaždé dokáže doslova přikovat k reproduktorům. Svět je možná kolem divný a směřuje do pekla, ale jsou jistoty, na které je spolehnutí. "The Immaculate Sin" je albem, které má v sobě poctivé, uvěřitelné a naprosto autentické severské DNA. Připomíná vichřici, která proletěla starou márnicí a zůstala po ní jenom spoušť. Švédi jsou ve skvělé formě a pokud jste měli rádi zásadní nahrávky od kapel jako DISMEMBER, GRAVE, NIHILIST, EDGE OF SANITY, CENTINEX, určitě mi má slova potvrdíte. Jsem starý pes, který hlídá vstup do podsvětí iž několik dekád. Zažil jsem staré časy, kdy tenhle styl teprve vznikal. A SORCERY pro mě vždy byly kapelou, která je pevná ve svých základech. Můj milý čtenáři, nové album je určeno jak pro nás, tak pro všechny, kteří ještě hudbu poslouchají srdcem. Je pro mě velmi příjemné, sestoupit každý den po setmění dolů do sklepa. Otevřít dveře na onen svět. Vstoupit dovnitř a nechat se pohltit stíny. Kývám na pozdrav starým zetlelým mrtvolám. Usedám ke stolu se svými vlastními démony. V kostech se mi dávno usadil chlad, podvědomě vím, že jsem zde správně. To vám klidně podepíšu vlastní krví. Mrazivé a temné ozvěny z toho nejhlubšího švédského podzemí! I nod in greeting to the old, decaying corpses. I sit down at the table with my own demons. A chill has long since settled in my bones; I listen to the new album by the Swedish legend SORCERY and smile contentedly. Here, among the undead, deep underground, amid the dark shadows, I feel most at home. Flesh is once again being torn from the bones, and it is done with the honest elegance of the old masters of the craft. I’ve always loved the band’s signature sound, and this year that holds true once again, one hundred percent. The combination of sharp, uncompromising riffs and chilling melodies has always been, for me, the clear definition of Nordic metal.
The band has always gone its own way. I’m an old, loyal fan, and as such, I’m very satisfied. Over the years, these gentlemen have honed their style to perfection. Even their new release cuts with the right edge of the knife. The melodies are gradually seeping into my veins, under my skin, and deep into my subconscious. Death, Satan, and all the demons are dancing on my grave once again. No wonder they’re playing mainly for them here.
It’s as if the moods of ancient cemeteries, dark catacombs, and the afterlife itself were imprinted on the songs. I’ve had the honor of reviewing their previous albums, conducting a great interview with the band (you’ll find the links below today’s article), and seeing them live a few years ago. All of this stays with me, so you shouldn’t be surprised that, for me, this new release is the clear embodiment of what I love about death metal. Raw yet melodic, with a solid, massive sound (William Blackmon (Isole, Scar Symmetry, Human Cull, etc.)), and a stylish cover art created by my favorite artist, Juanjo Castellano. All of this combined but especially the music itself literally glues me to the speakers every time. The world may be a strange place and heading toward hell, but there are certainties you can count on. “The Immaculate Sin” is an album that embodies honest, believable, and utterly authentic Nordic DNA. It’s like a storm that swept through an old morgue, leaving nothing but devastation in its wake. The Swedes are in great form, and if you enjoyed seminal recordings by bands like DISMEMBER, GRAVE, NIHILIST, EDGE OF SANITY, and CENTINEX, you’ll surely agree with me. I’m an old dog who’s been guarding the entrance to the underworld for several decades now. I’ve lived through the old days when this style was just emerging. And to me, SORCERY has always been a band with a solid foundation. My dear reader, this new album is meant both for us and for everyone who still listens to music with their heart. It’s a real pleasure for me to go down to the basement every day after dark. To open the door to that other world. To step inside and let the shadows swallow me whole. I nod in greeting to the old, decaying corpses. I sit down at the table with my own demons. A chill has long since settled in my bones; subconsciously, I know I’m in the right place.
