Když jsem v devadesátých letech poprvé držel v ruce CD, tak jsem se zařekl, že už nechci nikdy v životě vidět ani jednu zmuchlanou kazetu. Nikdy bych nevěřil, že se tenhle nosič vrátí a spousta sběratelů oživí svoji vášeň. Mám rád retro věci, asi jako každý, který rád vzpomíná na svoje mládí. Nostalgie samozřejmě funguje, ale má to své hranice. Paralela s kazetami se u DARKTHRONE sama nabízí. Tahle kapela patří do starého železa. A je to jen a jen dobře.
Když si projedete jejich bohatou diskografii, tak je to jako si číst v historii metalu samotného. A stejně jako se vrací kazety, tak se i DARKTHRONE vydali směrem někam na začátek extrémní hudby. I letos máme co do činění s black, heavy, speed metalem, ušpiněným i klasickými rockovými vlivy. Vše je jednoduché, ohlodané na kost. Spousta dnešních skupin se do podobné podoby stylizuje, ale jsou jen pouhou kopií. DARKTHRONE jsou jenom jedni.
Poslouchat metal je svým způsobem prokletí. Droga, kterou zkrátka potřebujete. Nové desky, další skladby. Záleží jen na vás, jaký druh si vyberete. Já kupříkladu už přes dvacet let neřeším různé styly, pro mě je o hodně důležitější, co mi deska přinese, jaké emoce ve mě vyvolá. "Eternal Hails......" není rozhodně nahrávkou pro každého. Už jenom ten záměrně špinavý, ošklivý zvuk nebude vyhovovat všem. To je ale přece v nejlepším pořádku. Tady se stejně hraje pro starý šedivý vlasatce, kteří se budou zasněně dívat do kraje a vzpomínat. Na dobu, kdy ještě peklo hořelo jasným plamenem. Album má rozhodně něco do sebe, i když se musím přiznat, že tentokrát jsem se do něj dostával o hodně déle, než při předchozích deskách. Pokud máte novodobé DARKTHRONE rádi, tak rozhodně zklamáni nebudete. Je jasné a zřetelné, že kdyby podobné skladby nahrál někdo pod jiným jménem, tak po nich neštěkne ani pes, ale o to tu vůbec nejde. Tohle je album pro fanoušky, kteří si stále opravují nášivky na džínových vestách a o víkendech sedí u gramofonů a kazeťáků, oprašují prach a vzpomínají. Nic víc, ani méně v tom nehledejte. Navíc, ono to fakt funguje! Prašivé black heavy metalové ozvěny starých časů!

When I first held a CD in my hand in the 1990s, I vowed never to see a single crumpled tape in my life again. I would never have believed that this medium would return and many collectors would revive their passion. I like retro things, like everyone who likes to remember their youth. Of course, nostalgia works, but it has its limits. A parallel with the cassettes is offered by DARKTHRONE. This band belongs to scrap metal. And it's just fine.
When you go through the rich discography of the band, it's like reading the history of metal itself. And just as the cassettes return, so did DARKTHRONE head somewhere for the beginning of extreme music. Even this year we are dealing with black, heavy, speed metal, dirty and classic rock influences. Everything is simple, gnawed to the bone. Many of today's bands are stylized in a similar way, but they are just copies. DARKTHRONE are just one.
Listening to metal is a curse in a way. The drug you just need. New records, more songs. It's up to you what kind you choose. For example, I have not been dealing with different styles for over twenty years, for me it is much more important what the record will bring me, what emotions it evokes in me. "Eternal Hails ......" is definitely not a record for everyone. Just the deliberately dirty, ugly sound won't suit everyone. But that's fine. Here it is played for the old gray fans, who will dreamily look into the region and remember. For a time when hell was still burning with a bright flame. The album definitely has something in it, although I have to admit that this time I got into it much longer than on previous records. If you like modern DARKTHRONE, you will definitely not be disappointed. It is clear and obvious that if someone recorded similar songs under a different name, not even a dog would bark at them, but that's not the point. This is an album for fans who are still fixing patches on denim vests and sitting at turntables and cassette players on weekends, dusting and remembering. Look no further, no less. Plus, it really works! Dusty black heavy metal echoes of old times!
