Všichni jsme se zde sešli, abychom zavzpomínali na jedny z nejlepších muzikantů, kteří kdy na poli death metalu působili. Chuck Schuldiner a Sean Reinert již nejsou mezi námi. Jejich odkaz ale žije dál. Na světě je stále mnoho mladých kapel, které se jejich odkazem inspirovalo. Některé pouze kopírují, jiné dávají do své tvorby i vlastní nápady a invenci. Záleží potom vždycky na fanoušcích, zda na jejich hru přistoupí, či nikoliv.
Přiznám se, že kdysi dávno, když v roce 2014 GRUESOME začínali, byl jsem k jejich přístupu poměrně skeptický. Jenže potom přišly první nahrávky, koncert, rozhovor a já jsem zjistil, že mě tahle upřímná a velmi dobře zahraná pocta starým časům vlastně hrozně baví. I letos je to zážitek jako poslouchat klon DEATH, se vším, co k tomu patří. S plesnivým zvukem, s jedovatým vokálem, s atmosférou reálných pohřbů do země.
Záleží tedy, ostatně jako vždycky, hlavně na vás, jak k jejich tvorbě přistoupíte. Mě osobně se tyhle vzpomínkové návraty líbí. Pokud jsou takto dobře zahrané, s nadšením a odhodláním, tak jsem spokojený. Navíc má nové album "Silent Echoes" jednu obrovskou výhodu. Opravdu dobře se poslouchá. Není divu, za nástroji i mikrofonem stojí velmi dobří muzikanti, kteří moc dobře ví, co a jak chtějí hrát. Ze skladeb je cítit, že je jejich morbidní práce baví, že si hudbu užívají. GRUESOME na to jdou zkrátka chytře. Není to jenom dobře odvedené řemeslo, v jednotlivých motivech je něco navíc, něco zajímavého a přitažlivého. Abych ale pravdu řekl, tak nejvíc jsem si tuhle smečku stejně nejvíc užil naživo. V malém klubu, s parádním zvukem, v tom byla samozřejmě nostalgie, ale také spousta temné energie, progresivních prvků, opravdové smrti. Z novinky mám úplně stejné pocity. Možná je to ale tím, že mám tyhle staroškolské kapely v genech, že jsem na nich vyrůstal. Mimochodem, Američanům rozhodně nelze upřít, že obstojí i jako velmi schopná smečka hrající technický, progresivní death metal. V závěru je to vlastně velmi jednoduché. Doporučuji vám, abyste se, oproštěni od názorů statní, zavřeli v klidu do svého pokoje, soustředili se a uslyšíte sami. Nové album má v sobě velkou sílu. Je sice trošku ukrytá pod nánosy nálepky DEATH, ale je tam. Stačí ji jenom objevit. Všichni jsme se zde sešli, abychom zavzpomínali na jedny z nejlepších muzikantů, kteří kdy na poli death metalu působili. Myslím si, že tihle maniaci nesou jejich prapor hrdě dál a dělají to s velmi podobou elegancí jako mistři samotní. Velmi povedená pocta starým dobrým death metalovým časům! Technika, progrese a atmosféra reálné smrti!

We have all gathered here to remember some of the best musicians who ever worked in the field of death metal. Chuck Schuldiner and Sean Reinert are no longer with us. But their legacy lives on. There are still many young bands in the world who have been inspired by their legacy. Some merely copy them, while others incorporate their own ideas and creativity into their work. It is always up to the fans to decide whether to accept their music or not.
I admit that a long time ago, when GRUESOME started in 2014, I was quite skeptical about their approach. But then came the first recordings, the concert, the interview, and I realized that I actually really enjoyed this sincere and very well-played tribute to the old days. This year, it's still like listening to a DEATH clone, with everything that goes with it. With a moldy sound, poisonous vocals, and the atmosphere of real burials in the ground.
As always, it depends mainly on you how you approach their work. Personally, I like these nostalgic returns. If they are played this well, with enthusiasm and determination, then I am satisfied. In addition, the new album "Silent Echoes" has one huge advantage. It is really enjoyable to listen to. No wonder, as there are very good musicians behind the instruments and microphones who know very well what and how they want to play. You can feel from the songs that they enjoy their morbid work, that they enjoy the music. GRUESOME simply go about it cleverly. It's not just a job well done, there's something extra in the individual motifs, something interesting and appealing. To tell the truth, though, I enjoyed this band the most live. In a small club, with great sound, there was nostalgia, of course, but also a lot of dark energy, progressive elements, real death. I have exactly the same feelings about the new album. But maybe that's because I have these old-school bands in my genes, because I grew up with them. By the way, there's no denying that the Americans are also a very capable band playing technical, progressive death metal. In the end, it's actually very simple. I recommend that you shut yourself in your room, free from the opinions of others, concentrate, and listen for yourself. The new album has great power. It's a little hidden under the layers of the DEATH label, but it's there. You just have to discover it. We have all gathered here to remember some of the best musicians who ever worked in the field of death metal. I think these maniacs are proudly carrying on their legacy and doing so with the same elegance as the masters themselves. A very successful tribute to the good old days of death metal! Technique, progression, and the atmosphere of real death!
