Svět se od mého mládí zase tolik nezměnil. Pořád se lidé navzájem zabíjejí, válčí v nekonečných bojích bez vítězů. Stále se potýkáme se zlem a někdy už jsme vyčerpaní a nemůžeme. Padáme ksichtem do krvavých kaluží, snažíme se vyvracet tupé lži, ale mnohdy už na to nemáme sílu. Jenže pak si poslechnu alba, jako je to nové, debutové od polských legendárních death grinderů UNDERTAKER a připadám si jako politý mrtvou vodou. Do žil se mi dostane pradávná síla, posbíraná kdysi dávno v devadesátých letech v podzemí a najednou zase stojím v první linii, připravený se utkat s lidskou hlouposti. Poláci, a to je nutné si říct rovnou na úvod, i po tolika letech řežou přímo do živého.
Historie téhle smečky se začala psát v roce 1992 a do roku 1996 pánové vydali dvě nahrubo nasekaná dema ("Hardness" a "Promo Tape '96"), aby rok po tom utlumila svoji činnost na dlouhou dobu. Letos se pánové vrátili, vydali mnou právě popisované album "Epicentrum" a kompilaci starých skladeb "Demo(n)s". Poláci jsou silnější než kdy dřív, sekají kolem sebe ostrými riffy, krutými melodiemi i prašivým hlasem. Tohle je hudba ze starých piteven, přátelé!
Jestliže se svět i myšlení lidí zase tolik za posledních více než třicet let příliš nezměnilo, stylová je i hudba, kterou nám kapela předkládá. A to prosím pěkně na víku od shnilé rakve. Měli jste a stále máte rádi smečky jako TERRORIZER, NAPALM DEATH, EXHUMED, REPULSION, CARCASS? Potom věřte tomu, že jste zde správně. UNDERTAKER uchopili tento styl po svém, doplnili jej o spoustu svých nápadů i invence a výsledkem je nejen album, které láme kosti, ale také nahrávka, která má v sobě velkou porci temnoty a chladu. Pokaždé, když zapnu play, tak si představím opuštěnou celu v nějakém děsivém sklepě. Někde v rohu, ve stínu visím na hácích já a moje zubožené tělo. Připomínám všechny ty záběry z večerních zpráv, z různých konců dnešního zkaženého světa. Je jedno, proč tu jsem. Ve jménu slepé víry, odlišeného názoru nebo jenom tak, že jsem se narodil na špatném místě. Každý riff je ostrým hřebem, který mi mí mučitelé zatlučou do hlavy, každá melodie je děsivým svědectvím, čeho jsme my, lidé jako druh schopni. Oceňuji masivní, dobře čitelný a surový zvuk, k zamyšlení donutí i motiv na obalu. Připadám si, jako bych spadl do obrovského mlýnu na maso, který mě rozemele pokaždé na prach. Stanu se jen číslem v řadě, kusem zcela nepotřebného masa. "Epicentrum" je přesně tím druhem hudby, u které si budete připadat jako byste kráčeli svým kdysi tak krásným městem, po včerejším bombardování. Z vašich přátel se staly jen otisky na zdi. Tohle album mě řeže zevnitř, je opravdové, ryzí, uvěřitelné a naprosto autentické. Doporučuji nahrávku všem, kteří poslouchají tenhle styl hlavně srdcem. Svět se od mého mládí zase tolik nezměnil. The world hasn’t changed all that much since my youth. People are still killing each other, waging endless wars with no winners. We’re still grappling with evil, and sometimes we’re just exhausted and can’t go on. We fall face-first into pools of blood, trying to debunk blatant lies, but often we no longer have the strength. But then I listen to albums like this new debut from the legendary Polish death grinders UNDERTAKER, and I feel like I’ve been doused with holy water. An ancient power flows through my veins, gathered long ago in the ’90s underground, and suddenly I’m back on the front lines, ready to battle human stupidity. The Poles—and this must be said right off the bat—still cut straight to the bone even after all these years.
The history of this pack began in 1992, and by 1996 the guys had released two brutally chopped-up demos ("Hardness" and "Promo Tape '96"), only to scale back their activities for a long time a year later. This year, the guys returned, releasing the album "Epicentrum" I just described and a compilation of old tracks, "Demo(n)s." The Poles are stronger than ever, slashing through everything with sharp riffs, brutal melodies, and a raspy voice. This is music from the old morgues, friends!

And they’re doing it right on the lid of a rotten coffin. Did you used to like and still love bands like TERRORIZER, NAPALM DEATH, EXHUMED, REPULSION, and CARCASS? Then trust me, you’re in the right place. UNDERTAKER has taken this style and made it their own, adding plenty of their own ideas and creativity, and the result is not only a bone-crushing album but also a recording that’s packed with darkness and coldness. Every time I hit play, I picture an abandoned cell in some terrifying basement. Somewhere in the corner, in the shadows, I hang on hooks, my wretched body. I resemble all those scenes from the evening news, from various corners of today’s corrupt world. It doesn’t matter why I’m here. In the name of blind faith, a differing opinion, or simply because I was born in the wrong place. Every riff is a sharp nail that my torturers drive into my head; every melody is a terrifying testimony to what we, as a species, are capable of. I appreciate the massive, clear, and raw sound; the cover art also gives you pause for thought. I feel as though I’ve fallen into a giant meat grinder that grinds me to dust every time. I’ll become just another number in the line, a piece of completely useless flesh. “Epicentrum” is exactly the kind of music that makes you feel like you’re walking through your once-beautiful city after yesterday’s bombing. Your friends have become nothing more than handprints on the wall. This album cuts deep inside me; it’s real, genuine, believable, and utterly authentic.
