Sestupuješ po starých shnilých schodech dolů, do podzemí. Otevíráš rezavou bránu a vstupuješ dovnitř. Obejme tě chlad, usadí se ti v kostech. Po zdech stéká hnis a pod nohama ti křupou kosti těch, co byli prokleti. Otevře se před tebou velká místnost plná bolesti a strachu. Uprostřed stojí trůn, na kterém sedí on, ten, o němž se nemluví. Potkával si jej během svého života. Pokaždé se usmíval, měnil podobu, pronásledoval tě ve snech, stal se postupně tvojí součástí i noční můrou. Poslouchal si celý život hudbu, podobou té, kterou hrají španělští maniaci FUNEBRE DEVASTATION a je tvým prokletím i teď, co jsi již několik měsíců po smrti.
Je to moje první setkání s kapelou a musím rovnou napsat, že jsme stejně krve. Sedl jsem si do sklepa, odstřihl jsem se od současného podivného světa a vrátil se po časové ose zpět, do doby, kdy se formoval i můj hudební vkus. Světu tehdy vládly kapely jako MALEVOLENT CREATION (ano, dnes mám na sobě opět jejich triko), POSSESSED, SODOM (kurva!), CELTIC FROST, MAYHEM, BLASPHEMY, DEICIDE (peklo!). Těmi se volně inspirovali i tihle démoni a nahráli album, které zabíjí na potkání.
Smrt je při poslechu hodně blízko. Kdysi dávno, v metalovém pravěku, v dobách, kdy jsme se toulali po periferii našeho města s kazeťáky na ramenou, oblečeni v ošoupaných džínových vestách posetých nášivkami kapel, které jsme k smrti milovali, jsme s podobnou hudbou, jako hrají FUNEBRE DEVASTATION začínali. Nutno rovnou dodat, že Španělé působí velmi uvěřitelně, opravdově, s pověstnou zabijáckou krvavou jiskrou v oku. Nikde nic nepřebývá, nikde nic nechybí, album má podmanivě morbidní atmosféru, smrdí sírou a když budete poslouchat pozorně, tak potkáte i své vlastní démony. Líbí se mi zvuk, motiv na obalu, celkově je novinka přesně tou nahrávkou, kterou chcete mít ve své morbidní sbírce. Skladby jsou napsány s jediných účelem, zabít vás hudbou. Budete pohřbeni zaživa, roztrháni na kusy a budete si tenhle jedovatý koktejl, umíchaný s pravěkého death metalu, thrashe, blacku, užívat jako exhumaci vlastního hrobu. Osobně se mi potom na "The Verminous Spawn" nejvíc líbí nakažlivá, plesnivá, řezající atmosféra. Jako bych byl zavřený ve studené, temné kobce a čekal na to, až mě zítra popraví za to, že jsem se rouhal, že jsem hanobil svaté ostatky. Španělé ukovali letošní nahrávku z té nejkvalitnější oceli a udělali to s noblesou a morbidní elegancí starých mistrů. Marně přemýšlím, co bych albu vytkl. Nic mě nenapadá. Jsem starý pes, který hlídá vstup do podsvětí více než 35 let a jako takový vám novinku doporučuji a potvrzuji její pravost podpisem vlastní krví. Each time he smiled, changed his form, haunted you in your dreams, gradually becoming both a part of you and your nightmare. You’ve listened to music your whole life, the kind played by the Spanish maniacs FUNEBRE DEVASTATION, and it remains your curse even now, months after your death.
This is my first encounter with the band, and I have to say right off the bat that we’re cut from the same cloth. I sat down in the basement, cut myself off from the strange world of today, and traveled back in time to the era when my musical taste was taking shape. Back then, the world was ruled by bands like MALEVOLENT CREATION (yes, I’m wearing their T-shirt again today), POSSESSED, SODOM (fuck!), CELTIC FROST, MAYHEM, BLASPHEMY, DEICIDE (hell!). These demons were loosely inspired by them and recorded an album that kills everything in its path.
Death feels very close when listening to this. Long ago, in the prehistoric days of metal, back when we roamed the outskirts of our city with cassette players slung over our shoulders, dressed in worn-out denim vests covered in patches of the bands we loved to death, we got our start with music similar to what FUNEBRE DEVASTATION plays. It must be said right away that the Spaniards come across as very believable, genuine, with that legendary killer, bloodthirsty spark in their eyes. Nothing is superfluous, nothing is missing; the album has a captivatingly morbid atmosphere, reeks of sulfur, and if you listen closely, you’ll even encounter your own demons. I like the sound, the cover art overall, this new release is exactly the kind of record you want in your morbid collection. The songs are written with a single purpose: to kill you with music. You’ll be buried alive, torn to pieces, and you’ll enjoy this poisonous cocktail a mix of primal death metal, thrash, and black metal as if you were exhuming your own grave. Personally, what I like most about "The Verminous Spawn" is its infectious, moldy, cutting atmosphere. It’s as if I were locked in a cold, dark dungeon, waiting to be executed tomorrow for blasphemy, for desecrating holy relics. The Spaniards have forged this year’s recording from the finest steel, and they’ve done so with the nobility and morbid elegance of the old masters. I rack my brain in vain, trying to find something to criticize about the album. Nothing comes to mind. I am an old dog who has guarded the entrance to the underworld for more than 35 years, and as such, I recommend this new release to you and confirm its authenticity with my signature in my own blood.
