Rezavý nůž, pomalu se zařezávající do tvým vnitřností. Nenávist v očích, jedovatý úsměv a nekonečná bolest, která se vznáší kolem jako děsivé svědomí. Je malá, skoro žádná pravděpodobnost, že potkáš v ulicích krvelačného vraha. Přesto se ti to stalo. Možná si to tušil dopředu, když si sledoval nekonečné hororové filmy, když si se toulal tmou. Teď tu ležíš, zohavený, opuštěný. Na chladné zemi, hned vedle odpadků. Další v řadě, další, na kterého všichni zapomenou. Přecházíš na druhou stranu, do země stínů a posloucháš nové album švédských REVOLTING.
Rogga a jeho věrní jsou i letos velmi dobrými řemeslníky, kteří odvedli poctivou morbidní práci. Pokud máte rádi rukopis tohoto severského mága, líbí se vám hororová atmosféra syrového death metalu a nepohrdnete ani punkovým přístupem, potom neváhejte. Podepíšu vám vlastní krví, že jste tu správně. Jasně, novinka nepřináší nic nového a v mnoha momentech je předvídatelná, ale to přeci nevadí. Hlavní je celkový pocit a ten je opět zničující, podmanivý, surový a nekonečně chladný.
U desítek Roggových kapel si mnohdy říkám, že se jedná o velmi podobné postupy. Přesto nebo právě proto, na mě nové album funguje. Jasně že se některé motivy již opakují, jasně, že tu už všechno bylo. Jenže pak si dám pár piv, zhlédnu několik hororových filmů z osmdesátých let a hledám nějaké album, které bych si pustil. Leží mi na stole desítky novinek, chvilku přemýšlím, ale pak nakonec velmi často volím "Supernatural Anthems". V závěru je to vlastně jednoduché, mě baví novinku poslouchat. Líbí se mi zvuk, motiv na obalu, ale hlavně jednotlivé skladby, které se velmi dobře poslouchají. A to jako kulisa k nějaké jiné činnosti, třeba porcování masa nebo i při soustředěném vnímání. REVOLTING si stále zachovávají svůj status, i letos nám předkládají velmi kvalitní materiál. Máte, ostatně jako vždy, dvě možnosti. Buď vzít do rukou nůž a jít vyvrhnout další úlovek a nebo odejít. Je vám asi jasné, co volím já, starý pes. Zkrátka a jednoduše, nové album si užívám se vším, co k tomu patří. Není a nikdy to nebude zásadní nahrávka, na kterou se bude vzpomínat po desetiletí, ale také to není nic, co by kolem mě prošlo bez povšimnutí. Možná je to i tím, že mám rád, když se kombinují severské, chladné melodie s krvavou tmou, když se mi zadírají pod kůži, do podvědomí, když se kývám spokojeně do rytmu, jako zkušený řezník, který právě dokončil svoji práci. Těla jsou pověšená na hácích a do zdí je otištěná nekonečná bolest. Až zase jednou půjdete v noci temnou ulicí, tak dávejte pozor, možná někdo stojí za rohem. A když uvidíte záblesk nože, tak utíkejte pryč. Nejlépe se sluchátky na uších a s touhle deskou v playlistu. Krvavě hororový death metal, který se vám zadře pod kůži i do podvědomí! Budete se děsit vlastního stínu!

Rogga and his faithful crew are once again master craftsmen this year, having delivered a solid, morbid piece of work. If you love this Nordic wizard’s signature style, enjoy the horror-filled atmosphere of raw death metal, and don’t mind a punk-inspired approach, then don’t hesitate. I’ll swear on my own blood that you’re in the right place. Sure, the new album doesn’t bring anything new to the table and is predictable in many moments, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is the overall feeling, and that is once again devastating, captivating, raw, and infinitely cold.
When it comes to Rogg’s dozens of bands, I often find myself thinking that their approaches are very similar. Despite that or perhaps because of it the new album really works for me. Sure, some themes are repeating themselves; sure, we’ve seen it all before. But then I have a few beers, watch a couple of ’80s horror movies, and look for an album to put on. There are dozens of new releases on my desk; I think about it for a moment, but in the end, I very often choose “Supernatural Anthems”. In the end, it’s actually simple: I enjoy listening to this new release. I like the sound, the cover art, but most of all the individual tracks, which are a pleasure to listen to. Whether as background music for some other activity, like cutting up meat, or even when listening intently. REVOLTING still hold their own; this year, too, they’re presenting us with top-notch material. You have, as always, two options. Either pick up a knife and go gut another catch, or walk away. You can probably guess what I, an old hand, choose. Simply put, I’m enjoying the new album with everything that goes with it. It isn’t and never will be a landmark album that will be remembered for decades to come, but it’s also not something that would pass me by unnoticed. Maybe it’s because I like it when cold, Nordic melodies are combined with bloody darkness, when they get under my skin, into my subconscious, when I nod contentedly to the beat, like an experienced butcher who has just finished his work. Bodies hang on hooks, and endless pain is imprinted on the walls. The next time you walk down a dark street at night, watch out someone might be lurking around the corner. And if you see a flash of a knife, run away. Preferably with headphones on and this album in your playlist. Bloody, horror infused death metal that will get under your skin and into your subconscious! You’ll be terrified of your own shadow!
