Apatický dav pochodující na smrt. S virtuálními životy v kapse, zahledění jen do svých vlastních myšlenek. Absolutní ztráta empatie, soucitu. Existuje jenom další dávka dopaminu, další falešný úsměv do kamery. Realita ale zůstává stále stejně šedivá, nudná a už nikdy nebude moci konkurovat tomu, co ti nabídnou mocní tohoto světa. Umělé ženy připomínají figuríny a obyčejný život dávno umřel zapomenutý v temném koutě. Přemýšlím o tom, když poslouchám nové album holandských DOOMCULT. Tahle kapela jasně svými texty i hudbou definuje neklid a smutek současného podivného světa.

Jak přežít mezi umělou inteligencí, jak se vyhnout fotkám, jak se nezbláznit z nicoty a prázdnoty, kterou nám moderní doba přináší? Mladí mají psychické problémy, protože musí být dokonalí a staří již dávno nedrží prst na tepu doby. Je něco shnilého mezi námi, co vylézá pomalu na povrch. Stále znovu se potvrzují slova starých autorů sci-fi. Jednou se zničíme sami. Nezbývá, než zklidnit svoji mysl, zapnout na přehrávači znovu play a nechat se unášet na chladných melodiích této nahrávky. Dostala se mi ihned do krve i do podvědomí a mám pocit, že mluvíme stejným jazykem.

Na jedné straně světa trpíme blahobytem a přesto jsme nešťastní, protože jsme si nestihli koupit další zbytečné věci. Na opačném konci umírají děti hladem. Zvýšený počet sebevražd, nablýskané fotky plné falešných šťastných úsměvů. Rodiče přestali dávno rozumět svým dětem a o odvrácené straně virtuálního světa plném násilí, bolesti a lidského hnusu ani nemluvím. Kam směřujeme? Netuším. Jediné, co vím s naprostou jistotou je, že nové album se povedlo na sto procent. Má v sobě všechny potřebné ingredience k tomu, abych zase jednou zklidnil svoji mysl, zastavil se a jen sledoval, jak kolem mě vše plyne. Je to málo? Ne, v dnešní chaotické a uspěchané době se to rovná malému zázraku. Jasně, DOOMCULT si pro svoji misi zvolili klasický doom death metal, tak jak jej kdysi hrávaly kapely typu ANATHMEA, PARADISE LOST, MY DYING BRIDE, WORSHIP, APHONIC THRENODY. Přidávají do něj kousky svých vlastních nápadů a invence. A potom je tu strhující, nebál bych se napsat magická a uhrančivá atmosféra, která skladby posouvá na vyšší úroveň. Povedl se ale i zvuk, který je náležitě ostrý, syrový a dodává hudbě na ještě větší uvěřitelnosti. Osvědčil se mi poslech se sluchátky na uších, když jsem kráčel ulicemi a sledoval lidi kolem sebe. Neusmíval se nikdo, všichni připomínali spíše zombie, hltající nekonečnou řadu příspěvků na tapetách svých telefonů. Když se potom začala kolem roztahovat hustá mlha, apokalyptický dojem dosáhl dokonalosti. Pokud jste fanoušci tohoto pomalého stylu a rádi se necháváte rozdrásat zevnitř, pak neváhejte ani chvilku. Tohle je album, u kterého budete přemýšlet, vyvolá ve vás pestrou paletu pochmurných a beznadějných emocí. Apatický dav pochodující na smrt. Album, po okraj narvané smutnými, melancholickými náladami, které ve vás zanechá hlubokou stopu!

An apathetic crowd marching toward their doom. With virtual lives in their pockets, lost in their own thoughts. A complete loss of empathy and compassion. All that exists is the next dopamine hit, another fake smile for the camera. But reality remains just as gray and boring as ever, and it will never again be able to compete with what the powerful of this world have to offer. Artificial women resemble mannequins, and ordinary life died long ago, forgotten in a dark corner. I think about this as I listen to the new album by the Dutch band DOOMCULT. Through their lyrics and music, this band clearly captures the restlessness and sadness of today’s strange world.

How do we survive amidst artificial intelligence? How do we avoid photos? How do we keep from going mad from the nothingness and emptiness that modern times bring us? Young people have mental health issues because they must be perfect, and the elderly have long since lost touch with the pulse of the times. There is something rotten among us, slowly rising to the surface. The words of old sci-fi authors keep proving true. One day, we’ll destroy ourselves. All that’s left is to calm our minds, press play again on the player, and let ourselves be carried away by the cool melodies of this recording. It immediately seeped into my blood and my subconscious, and I feel like we’re speaking the same language.

On one side of the world, we suffer from affluence and yet we’re unhappy because we haven’t had time to buy more unnecessary things. On the other side of the world, children are dying of hunger. Rising suicide rates, glossy photos full of fake happy smiles. Parents stopped understanding their children long ago, and I won’t even mention the dark side of the virtual world, full of violence, pain, and human depravity. Where are we headed? I have no idea. The only thing I know with absolute certainty is that the new album is a hundred percent success. It has all the necessary ingredients for me to calm my mind once again, pause, and simply watch as everything flows by around me. Is that not enough? No in today’s chaotic and hurried times, it amounts to a small miracle. Sure, DOOMCULT has chosen classic doom death metal for its mission just as bands like ANATHMEA, PARADISE LOST, MY DYING BRIDE, WORSHIP, and APHONIC THRENODY used to play it. They add bits of their own ideas and creativity to it. And then there’s the captivating I wouldn’t hesitate to call it magical and mesmerizing atmosphere that elevates the songs to a higher level. The sound is also spot-on; it’s appropriately sharp and raw, lending the music even greater authenticity. I found that listening with headphones on while walking through the streets and watching the people around me worked really well for me. No one was smiling; they all looked more like zombies, devouring an endless stream of posts on their phone screens. When a thick fog began to roll in, the apocalyptic feeling reached its peak. If you’re a fan of this slow style and enjoy being torn apart from the inside, then don’t hesitate for a moment. This is an album that will make you think, evoking a wide range of gloomy and hopeless emotions. An apathetic crowd marching toward death.
