Lidé už přestali mít strach i ze Satana. Alespoň tak mi to připadá, když sleduji dnešní svět. Zástupy pochodující na smrt, pekelný oheň v ulicích. Vztek, nenávist, zlo. Vše krásně konstrastuje s růžovými reklamami. Mrtvoly na hromadě, mučení, bolest. A všichni chodí s hlavami sklopenými k obrazovkám. Raději opět utíkám do starých katakomb. Zde je svět ještě v pořádku, tady ještě uctíváme pravou, ryzí smrt, Satana i death metal, který hoří jasným plamenem.

S australskými THE PLAGUE jste se mohli u nás na stránkách již jednou setkat. Bylo to u příležitosti vydání jejich prvního dlouhohrajícího alba "Within Death" (2021), o kterém si můžete přečíst v recenzi, která je odkazována dole pod dnešním článkem. Osobně mě tahle smečka hodně baví. Jejich nadšení, nakumulovaný vztek a temnota, které jsou obsaženy i v nových skladbách. Je to masakr v márnici, přesně jak to mám rád. 


V záhrobí se občas stává, že vám někdo vytrhne vnitřnosti z těla. Díváte se do jeho chladné tváře a překvapeni padáte k zemi. Tak přesně takhle se cítím i při poslechu nové desky "Erosion of Gods". Padám z vysoké hory do hlubin. Jsem v lavině z riffů, úderů bicích, krve, kostí a morbidního vokálu. Tahle smečka umí napsat velmi dobré melodie. Představte si velký mlýn na maso, který vás rozseká na malé kousky. Není to ale jenom rychlost, krutost a brutalita, které jsou ve skladbách obsaženy. Základem jsou vždy velmi dobře napsané melodie, riffy, které se vám dostanou až do morku kostí. Je mi už dávno jedno, jak dopadne náš zkažený druh, ale dobrou hudbu vždy dokáži ocenit a podpořit. Přidávám hlasitost a pokaždé mi vylétne mozek z hlavy. Tohle je nářez pro fanoušky jak severského smrtícího kovu (ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, UNLEASHED, VOMITORY, BLOODBATH, GRAVE), tak americké školy (DEICIDE, POSSESSED). Úplně nejvíc oceňuji mrtvolnou a morbidní atmosféru, která se albem prolíná jako zkažená krev. Australané na to jdou poctivě, postaru. Nezbývá, než vám desku doporučit. Lidé už přestali mít strach i ze Satana. Alespoň tak mi to připadá, když sleduji dnešní svět. Zástupy pochodující na smrt, pekelný oheň v ulicích. Vztek, nenávist, zlo. Raději opět utíkám do starých katakomb. Krvavý, děsivý, hororový death metalový masakr! Spálená země! Inferno!

People have stopped being afraid of Satan. At least that's how it seems to me, watching the world today. Crowds marching to their deaths, hellfire in the streets. Anger, hatred, evil. It all contrasts beautifully with the pink commercials. Dead bodies in a heap, torture, pain. And they all walk with their heads down to the screens. I'd rather escape to the old catacombs again. Here the world is still right, here we still worship true, pure death, Satan and death metal that burns with a bright flame.

You may have already met Australian THE PLAGUE once on our website. It was on the occasion of the release of their first full-length album "Within Death" (2021), which you can read about in the review linked below today's article. Personally, I like this pack a lot. Their enthusiasm, accumulated anger and darkness, which are also present in the new songs. It's a massacre in the morgue, just the way I like it.


In the afterlife, it sometimes happens that someone rips your guts out of your body. You look into their cold face and fall to the ground in surprise. That's exactly how I feel listening to the new album "Erosion of Gods". I'm falling off a high mountain into the depths. I'm in an avalanche of riffs, drum beats, blood, bones and morbid vocals. This bunch can write some very good tunes. Imagine a big meat grinder that's gonna cut you into little pieces. But it's not just the speed, cruelty and brutality that is contained in the songs. The foundation is always very well written melodies, riffs that get you to the core. I've long since stopped caring how our wicked species turns out, but I can always appreciate and support good music. I turn up the volume and my brains fly out of my head every time. This is a blast for fans of both Nordic death metal (ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, UNLEASHED, VOMITORY, BLOODBATH, GRAVE) and American school (DEICIDE, POSSESSED). What I appreciate most is the dead and morbid atmosphere that runs through the album like corrupted blood. The Australians go at it honestly, the old-fashioned way. I have no choice but to recommend the album to you. People have stopped being afraid of Satan. At least that's how it seems to me, watching the world today. Crowds marching to their deaths, hellfire in the streets. Anger, hatred, evil. I'd rather escape to the old catacombs again. A bloody, horrific, horror death metal massacre! Scorched earth! Inferno!

Narodil jsem se v socialismu. Na velkém sídlišti v průmyslovém městě. Chodili jsme do průvodů a věřili falešným slibům. Přísahali jsme na vlast a potkávali temné vojáky ze Sovětského svazu, kteří měli u nás základnu. Pamatuji si, že se nikdy neusmívali. Všichni nám lhali a dodnes v nás zůstala zvláštní pachuť. Všude kolem byla šeď, beton a dělnická pěst továrny. Asi pochopíte, že nechci, aby se to někdy opakovalo. Poslouchám nové album finských doom metalistů KYPCK a mrazí mě v zádech. Vrací se mi vzpomínky, vidím před sebou pochodovat další dav.

Tahle kapela je natolik svá a originální, že je velmi těžké jejich hudbu jakkoliv popisovat. Bez poslechu jednotlivých těžkých a melancholických melodií, bez skvěle zpracovaných vokálů, jsou jakákoliv slova zbytečná. Lepší je si sednout a nechat na sebe novinku působit. 


Události posledních let nám ukazují, že se toho příliš na Východě nezměnilo. Začala válka na Ukrajině a na mě opět dýchla bolest. Kdysi jsme poslouchali budovatelské písně a smáli se na fotkách v táborech v lesích. Kdo nezažil, nepochopí. Tohle jsou vzpomínky, které nelze nijak přenést. Finové tohle všechno vzali, dali tomu skvělý zvuk a produkci a vypálili to na hudební nosič. Totalita má vždy svoji temnou stránku, svoje krutá vězení, gulagy, politické vězně a jakoukoliv ztrátu svobody slova. Skladby jsou naléhavé, majestátní, vznešené a zároveň těžké a temné. Jako duše vojáka, kterého donutili zabíjet. Už zase znějí sirény, už zase se vyhrožuje jadernými zbraněmi. Jsem opravdu rád, že existuje kapela, která na to upozorňuje. A dělá to velmi elegantním a inteligentním způsobem. Po hudební stránce se potom jedná o klasický, melodický doom metal, se spoustou sugestivním prvků. Uběhlo mnoho let a žijeme ve svobodě. Bohužel mi poslední dobou připadá, že si toho spousta lidí vůbec neváží. Nostalgicky vypráví o starých dobrých časech. Jakoby zapomněli na všechnu tu šeď a tmu, která nás všechny objímala jako slizký had. Jsem opravdu rád, že se mi tohle album dostalo do rukou. Trávil jsem s ním spoustu času a chodil studeným městem. Ještě je kolem mě mnoho budov z dob socialismu, ještě máme hodně pomníků. Dodnes nechápu, jak mohl takhle dopadnout národ, který dal světu Dostojevského („Nejtěžší zločiny jsou ty, které činíme ve skrytu srdce") či Čajkovského. Finští doomaři ve mě rozdrásali staré vzpomínky na dětství. Vzali mě na výlet do doby, kterou jsem prožil a pamatuji si ji. Patří jim za to velký dík. Jejich muzika je velmi syrová a majestátní. Zasáhla mě přímo do srdce, přímo do podvědomí. Poslední album kapely pod jménem KYPCK je doom metalovým výletem plným bolesti, melancholie a strachu z totality!

I was born in socialism. In a big housing estate in an industrial city. We went to parades and believed in false promises. We swore on our country and met dark soldiers from the Soviet Union who were based in our country. I remember they never smiled. They all lied to us, and to this day we still have a strange aftertaste. There was grey, concrete and factory workers all around. You'll probably understand that I don't ever want that to happen again. I'm listening to the new album by Finnish doom metallers KYPCK and I'm getting chills. Memories come flooding back, I see another crowd marching in front of me.

This band is so unique and original that it is very hard to describe their music in any way. Without listening to the individual heavy and melancholic melodies, without the superbly crafted vocals, any words are useless. Better to sit back and let the novelty wear off.


The events of recent years show us that not much has changed in the East. The war in Ukraine has begun and the pain has been breathed on me again. We used to listen to the songs of the builders and laugh at the photos in the camps in the forests. Those who have not experienced it will not understand. These are memories that cannot be transferred in any way. The Finns took all of this, gave it a great sound and production and burned it onto a record. Totalitarianism always has its dark side, its cruel prisons, gulags, political prisoners and any loss of freedom of speech. The songs are urgent, majestic, sublime and at the same time heavy and dark. Like the soul of a soldier who was forced to kill. Sirens are sounding again, nuclear weapons are being threatened again. I'm really glad there's a band that's calling attention to this. And it does it in a very elegant and intelligent way. Musically, then, it's classic, melodic doom metal, with lots of suggestive elements. Many years have passed and we live in freedom. Unfortunately, lately it seems to me that many people do not appreciate it at all. They talk nostalgically about the good old days. It's as if they've forgotten all the grey and darkness that used to envelop us all like a slithering snake. I'm really glad I got my hands on this album. I've spent a lot of time with it, walking through the cold city. There are still a lot of buildings from the socialist era around me, we still have a lot of monuments. I still don't understand how a nation that gave the world Dostoyevsky ("The worst crimes are those we commit in the secret of the heart") or Tchaikovsky could have ended up like this. The Finnish doomsayers tore at me old memories of my childhood. They took me on a trip to a time I lived through and remember. I owe them a big thank you for that. Their music is very raw and majestic. It hit me right in the heart, right in the subconscious. The band's latest album under the name KYPCK is a doom metal trip full of pain, melancholy and fear of totalitarianism!

Ave TIDELESS! Greetings to the California´s underground. I hope everything is fine with you. It should be because this year you have released a second long-play full-length album in your band's career. I have to admit it has literally blown my mind. It is dark, energic and as if it cuts by the sharp edge of the knife. I can hear from the record you did a really good job and you added a big portion of the talent, too. How do you perceive the new album in comparison to the previous one? Where did you want to move and in what are these two records different?

Thank you for the kind words.

Well to start out the album had a professional production. Adrift in Grief was recorded on the cheapest microphones one could buy and recorded in a 10x10 room with zero treatment. I also wanted a dryer guitar sound compared to the first album. So I didn’t even use a Delay pedal at all.Though I could have in some sections but we are really happy with the outcome.

„Eye of Water“ includes all attributes of good death and doom metal. For me personally, it represents the record, which I really like to listen to. How did you produce it? How look the writing process of new material in the case of TIDELESS?

Well for this album I really wanted to tell a story in a way. Unlike the first album which is overwhelmingly depressive I wanted to express more then just sorrow on this one. So it was hard to get there but I’ve always said that the song really write themselves. I just have to spend time finding the best way to express them.


I found out that Charlie Koryn signed under the mix and mastering of the new record. I have to confirm that the sound is literally killing. It still makes me add volume to the player. Charlie Koryn has created a sound that is cruel, raw and at the same time dark and organic. How went the work with him and why did you choose him? In which studio did you record it? How did the recording process look like?

Totally, Charlie is incredibly talented not only behind the kit but behind the mixing board.

We choose him after seeing that he was quite active in recording bands and what not up in Portland. So I hit him up, and Kyle and I flew out. Drums where recorded in Portland and the rest was recorded down in San Diego. Recording was actually pretty quick considering how long the songs are. But with Charlie at the helm we got it done with ease.

An important part and a kind of extra bonus for fans today is the physical CD. You released the new album at CD in Chaos Records, and it has a interesting cover art. Who is the author? How did you choose the motif and how does it relate to the music at the record?

The album cover was done by Wang Yang. The basic idea that I had was for him to give me his take on a scene from a film called The Strange Color of Your Body’s Tears. The relation it has to the album is more personal.


I have been wandering the underground for over thirty years and I still go to California for music with certainty. I think we have a similar nature and taste when it comes to music. I like your bands a lot and I monitor your scene carefully. Maybe I envy you a little, because we only have a few good metal bands that are worth it. How do you explain that music are doing so well in your country? How do you perceive your scene, fans, labels?

I’m the last people you should ask that question lol. I really don’t keep up with a lot of bands and the reason is that there are just too many bands. If I know the band personally I’ll check them out other wise I rarely bother. The “scene” is super saturated and I just don’t have the time. But we do get great shows all the time so that’s a plus.

You play doom death metal influenced by, among other things, the old school, but you're also going down the path of progression. Today, the band can't avoid comparisons, but I would like to know how the idea to start TIDELESS was born, who was and is your metal idol? Where do you want to move your band? Are you attracted to large foreign festivals, for example, are you willing to go on tour with a more famous band?

The idea behind Tideless was to write music that I would enjoy. I always felt that bands like Disembowelment and The Chasm had reached a point of greatness. Then either disintegrate or moved completely away from that initial vision to something else. I’m just trying to expand on those ideas and hopefully create something worthwhile.

If anyone wants us to play we are always open. Word of warning we do play long songs.


When I started my website six years ago, I had a vision that I would try to support bands that are not so much popular, or they are lost in underground. To let the world knows about them. I think I'm doing quite well, at least according to the responses. How do you approach the promotion of your music? Do you rely upon the label or do you send the CDs for various reviews by yourself? For example, I buy albums that I really enjoy. What about you? Are you also fans who often support your colleagues? Do you go to concerts?

For this album I believe the label took care of a lot of the marketing. In the past I would try to self promote but trying to get people to check out metal with shoegaze attached to it was like pulling teeth.

I’m pretty sure everyone in the band still buys tapes or cds till this day and we always support great bands. Recently we had Arizmenda play here in San Diego so if we can get great shows together we will.


On the one hand, today the new band has a lot of opportunities to make themselves more known, but on the other hand, there are a huge number of groups and the fans are getting lost in this big metal sea. A lot of people just download mp3s from the internet and instead of to visit the concert they prefer to spit poisonous saliva on Facebook. How do modern technologies affect you as TIDELESS? What do you think about downloading music, google metalists, streaming music, etc.?

I’m all for finding the music you want. I download, stream, and buy music almost daily.

Which ever way you can the more power to you. If you want to download the new album off some Russian site be my guest. If you want to to buy the cd we are here. I release music for people to find and if they like it, share it. Tideless while it is my artistic expression, I don’t expect compensation.

I like to ask the musicians what death/doom metal means to them. How would they define it, whether it is more the philosophy and lifestyle thing for them or "just" relaxation? What does it mean for you? How do you perceive and experience it?

Finally, a classic but important question. What is TIDELESS planning in the upcoming months? Where can we see you at the stage?

Currently we have a few shows lined-up and then we are probably going to concentrate on writing the new album. We have about 3 songs but we will keep on writing till he can’t no more. As long as no one gets hurt skiing or snowboarding we should start recording by next summer.

Ave TIDELESS! Zdravím do kalifornského undergroundu. Doufám, že je u vás vše v pořádku. Mělo by, máte na kontě letos druhé dlouhohrající skvělé album své kariéry. Musím se přiznat, že mě doslova přikovalo na zeď. Je temné, energické, řeže ostrou hranou nože. Je hodně slyšet, že jste odvedli skvělou práci a taky velká porce talentu. Jak vnímáš novou desku v souvislosti s vaší prvotinou? Kam jak jste se chtěli posunout a v čem jsou podle tebe nahrávky odlišné?

Ahoj, ďakujem za milé slová. No, na začiatku musím povedať, že mal album profesionálnu produkciu. „Adrift in Grief“ sa nahrával na najlacnejšie mikrofóny, aké sa dali kúpiť, a v miestnosti 10x10 s nulovou úpravou. Chcel som tiež suchší zvuk gitár v porovnaní s prvým albumom. Takže som vôbec nepoužil Delay pedál. Aj keď v niektorých častiach som mohol, ale s výsledkom sme naozaj spokojní.

„Eye of Water“ v sobě obsahuje všechny atributy dobrého death a doom metalu. Pro mě osobně se jedná o desku, ke které se hrozně rád vracím. Jakým způsobem vznikala? Jak skládají nový materiál TIDELESS?

Na tomto albume som chcel naozaj vyrozprávať nejaký príbeh. Na rozdiel od prvého albumu, ktorý je prevažne depresívny, som chcel na tomto albume vyjadriť viac než len smútok. Takže bolo ťažké sa k tomu dopracovať, ale ako vždy hovorievam, piesne sa niekedy naozaj píšu samé. Musím len stráviť čas hľadaním najlepšieho spôsobu, ako ich vyjadriť.


Dohledal jsem si, že pod nahráváním a mixem je podepsán Charlie Koryn. Musím potvrdit, že zvuk doslova zabíjí. Pořád mě to nutí na hi-fi věži přidávat volume. Charlie Koryn vám vytvořil zvuk, který je krutý, surový a zároveň temný a živočišný. Jak se vám s ním spolupracovalo a proč právě on? V jakém studiu jste nahrávali a jak vše probíhalo?

Charlie je neuveriteľne talentovaný nielen za bicou súpravou, ale aj za mixážnym pultom. Vybrali sme si ho po tom, čo sme videli, že sa dosť aktívne podieľa na nahrávaní kapiel v Portlande. Tak som ho oslovil a Kyle a ja sme za ním odleteli. Bicie sme nahrávali v Portlande a zvyšok v San Diegu. Nahrávanie bolo vlastne celkom rýchle vzhľadom na to, aké sú piesne dlhé. Ale s Charlieho pomocou sme to zvládli bez problémov.

Nedílnou součástí a jakýmsi bonusem navíc je pro fanoušky dnes CD. Vy jste jej vydali u Chaos Records a je opatřeno zajímavým obalem. Kdo je jeho autorem? Jak jste motiv vybírali a jak souvisí s hudbou na novince?

Obal albumu vytvoril Wang Yang. Základná myšlienka, ktorú som mal bola, aby mi poskytol svoj pohľad na scénu z filmu s názvom „Zvláštna farba sĺz tvojho tela“. Spojenie danej scény s albumom je tak trochu osobné.


Toulám se podsvětím již přes třicet let a do Kalifornie si chodím pro muziku vlastně na jistotu. Myslím, že máme podobnou náturu i vkus, co se týká hudby. Mám vaše kapely hodně rád a pečlivě sleduji vaši scénu. Možná vám i trošku závidím, my máme u nás jen pár dobrých metalových smeček, které stojí za to. Čím si to vysvětluješ, že zrovna u vás se muzice tolik daří? Jak vnímáš vaši scénu, fanoušky, labely?

Haha, ja som asi ten posledný, koho by si sa mal pýtať túto otázku. Naozaj nestíham sledovať všetky kapely a dôvodom je, že ich je jednoducho príliš veľa. Ak kapelu poznám osobne, tak si ju pozriem, inak sa tým zaoberám len zriedka. "Scéna" je neuveriteľne presýtená a ja na to jednoducho nemám čas. Ale stále máme skvelé koncerty, takže to je plus.

Hrajete doom death metal ovlivněný starou školou, ale jdete i cestou progrese. Dnes se vlastně kapela nemůže vyhnout srovnání, mě by ale zajímalo, jak vlastně vznikl nápad založit TIDELESS, kdo byl a je vaším vzorem a kam vaši kapelu chcete posunout? Lákají vás třeba velké zahraniční festivaly, jste ochotni vyrazit na turné s nějakou slavnější smečkou?

Myšlienkou TIDELESS bolo napísať hudbu, ktorá by ma bavila. Vždy som mal pocit, že kapely ako Disembowelment a The Chasm dosiahli bod veľkoleposti. Potom sa buď rozpadli, alebo sa od svojej pôvodnej vízie úplne vzdialili k niečomu inému. Ja sa len snažím rozvinúť tieto myšlienky a dúfam, že vytvorím niečo hodnotné. Ak by niekto chcel, aby sme si zahrali, sme vždy otvorení. Upozornenie: hráme dlhé skladby.


Když jsem před šesti lety zakládal svoje stránky, měl jsem vizi, že se budu snažit podporovat kapely, které podle mě nejsou tolik na očích. Dát o nich vědět světu. Myslím, že se mi to celkem daří, alespoň podle ohlasů. Jak přistupujete k propagaci vy? Necháváte to na labelu nebo sami posíláte CD různě na recenze? Já si třeba alba, která mě opravdu baví, kupuji. Jak jste na tom vy? Jste také fanoušci, co rádi a často podporují své kolegy? Chodíte na koncerty? Paříte?

Myslím, že v prípade tohto albumu sa o marketing postaralo vydavateľstvo. V minulosti som sa snažil propagovať sám, ale snaha presvedčiť ľudí, aby si vypočuli metal s prívlastkom shoegaze, bola lákavá asi ako vytrhnutie zubu. Som si istý, že každý z kapely si dodnes kupuje kazety alebo CD a celkovo vždy podporujeme skvelé kapely. Nedávno sme tu v San Diegu mali kapelu ARIZMENDA, takže ak sa nám podarí zorganizovať ďalšie skvelé koncerty, urobíme to.


Na jednou stranu má dnes začínající kapela spoustu možností, jak o sobě dát vědět, ale zase na druhou stranu, skupin je obrovské množství a fanoušci se v nich ztrácejí. Hodně lidí jen stahuje mp3 z internetu a místo koncertu raději plive jedovaté sliny na facebooku. Jak vás, jako TIDELESS ovlivňují moderní technologie? Co si myslíš o stahování muziky, google metalistech, streamování muziky apod.?

Som za to, aby ste si našli hudbu, ktorú chcete. Sťahujem, streamujem a kupujem hudbu takmer denne. Ktorýkoľvek spôsob si nájdete a vyhovuje vám, tým lepšie pre vás. Ak si chcete stiahnuť nový album z nejakej ruskej stránky, nech sa páči. Ak si chcete kúpiť CD, sme tu pre vás. Vydávam hudbu, aby ju ľudia našli a ak sa im páči, zdieľali ju. Kým je TIDELESS mojím umeleckým vyjadrením, neočakávam žiadnu kompenzáciu.

S oblibou se ptám muzikantů na to, co pro ně znamená death/doom metal. Jak by jej definovali, jestli je pro ně spíše filozofií a životním stylem nebo „jen“ relaxem. Co znamená pro tebe? Jak jej vnímáš a prožíváš?

Na závěr klasická, ale důležitá otázka. Co chystají TIDELESS v nejbližších měsících? Kde vás můžeme vidět na koncertě?

V súčasnosti máme naplánovaných niekoľko koncertov a potom sa pravdepodobne sústredíme na písanie nového albumu. Doposiaľ máme pripravené asi tri piesne, ale budeme písať dovtedy, kým toho nebude viac. Pokiaľ sa nikto nezraní na lyžiach alebo snowboarde, mali by sme začať nahrávať do budúceho leta.

Děkuji moc za rozhovor. Přeji nejen nové desce spoustu úspěchů a ať se co nejvíc rozšíří řady vašich fanoušků. Budu se těšit někde naživo a ať se vám daří jak po hudební stránce, tak i v osobní rovině. Jdu si „Eye of Water“ zase narvat do hlavy!

Stejně jsem měl vždycky jednou za čas divný pocit. Musel jsem se zastavit, hluboko dýchat. Popadl mě děs, začal jsem se třást. Tušil jsem, že se vrátí, že se stará rána otevře a začne hnisat. Trvalo to dlouhé roky, už jsem si myslel, že mi zůstanou jenom děsivé sny. Jenže zlo nelze zničit. I když si myslíte, že je mrtvé, tak jenom spí. Stačí jenom malý důvod a probudí se. Znovu vás pohltí. Divám se na své břicho. Je v něm velká černá díra. Pulsující vřed, který je třeba vyříznout.

Měli jste někdy otravu krve? Pokud ne, tak si pusťte nové EP britských STRIGOI a budete se potácet v mrazivé mlze. V horečce, kterou dokáží pochopit jenom prokletí. Pánové jsou zpět a přinášejí nám další porci mokvajících a bolestivých melodií. Poslouchám novinku "Bathed in a Black Sun" a cítím, že ve mě hnije něco hodně  ošklivého. 


Až jednou temnota zcela pohltí světlo, bude se jejich hudba hrát všude. Na našem i onom světě. Ve starých opuštěných katakombách, ve kterých je vchod do samotného pekla. STRIGOI jsou pohrobky VALLENFYRE, jak je všeobecně známo. Greg Mackintosh (PARADISE LOST), Chris Casket (EXTREME NOISE TERROR), Guido Zima za bicími., Ben Ash (CARCASS) u kytary. Slavná jména a zkušení muzikanti, kteří dokáží napsat melodie, které se mi doslova vypálily do mozku. Hodně k tomu přispívá i skvělý zvuk (Oregon Studios, Mixing studio/engineer: Kurt Ballou, Mastering studio/engineer: Brad Boatright, Producer/Sound engineer: Jamie Gomez and Strigoi), ke kterému lze napsat jenom - absolutní chlad a nahrubo nasekaná tma. Na nové desce zazní velmi podmanivý a magický koktejl starého death metalu, chladného blacku, kousky crustu, sludge, punku i doom metalové nálady. Určitě znáte takový ten zvláštní pocit, který má člověk v žaludku, když poslouchá skvělou hudbu. STRIGOI mají patent na pochmurné nálady. Usadí se vám v hlavě, jako nějaký červ, jako pradávná choroba, jako prokletí. Někdy se mi zdají sny, ve kterým mě příšera z hlubin pořeže ostrými drápy. Probudím se a rána mi začne hnisat. Přesně tak se cítím po každém setkání s "Bathed in a Black Sun". Je to opět velmi návykový, zničující materiál. Pro fanoušky PARADISE LOST, VALLENFYRE, TRYPTIKON, je nové EP povinnost! Mlhavě hnisavé ozvěny z onoho světa, hnilobný odkaz věčnosti! Krvavý otisk temnoty!

The new album features a very captivating and magical cocktail of old death metal, cold black metal, bits of crust, sludge, punk and doom metal. I'm sure you know that strange feeling you get in your stomach when you listen to great music. STRIGOI have a patent for gloomy moods. They settle in your head like a worm, like an ancient disease, like a curse. Sometimes I have dreams in which a monster from the deep cuts me with its sharp claws. I wake up and the wound begins to fester. That's exactly how I feel after every encounter with "Bathed in a Black Sun". Again, it's very addictive, devastating stuff. Pitevní zpráva z 27. října 2023. Pacient byl přivezen již ve stádiu absolutního rozkladu. Chyběly mu některé orgány, měl polámané kosti a místo očí se na mě dívaly dva černé důlky. Provedu první řez. Skalpel je čerstvě nabroušený, tak mi jde práce krásně od ruky. Mám neodbytný pocit, že toho člověka odněkud znám. Oddělím maso od kostí a celá pitva připomíná morbidní symfonii. Už vím, kde jsem jej viděl. Každé ráno v zrcadle, jsem to já. Řežu svoje vlastní tělo. Celé mi to připadá vtipné, líbí se mi nadsázka, ale hlavně hudba, které ke mě teče z reproduktorů jako čerstvá krev. AUTOPSY jsou zpět, v plné síle a s touhou vás rozřezat na malé kousky.

Zvukově je vše v absolutním pořádku. Líbí se mi taková ta syrovost, hororový nádech. Pokud jste někdy viděli nějaký film z osmdesátých let, ve kterém se ulicemi toulala bestie a slečny křičely bolestí a strachem, asi víte, o čem píšu. AUTOPSY jsou natolik originálníí kapela, že ji poznáte vždy podle několika prvních tónů. Letošní album je volným pokračováním krutého a špinavého seriálu z předchozích let.

Opět zde potkáte časté změny tempa. Rychlé smrtící pasáže, zahrané na hranici šílenství se střídají s těmi doomovými, strašidelnými. Na tohle mají pánové patent a nikdo jiný to neumí jako oni. K tomu si připočtěte typický a nezaměnitelný vokál mistra Chrise Reiferta a nelze jinak, než mít tuhle smečku rád. Provází mě celý můj metalový život a poslední roky mi připadají jako politi mrtvou vodou. Jasně, všichni tak nějak dopředu víme, co dostaneme, hodnotit lze tedy spíše to, zda mě jako fanouška novinka baví, či nikoliv. Baví, přátelé. Vždyť jsem na podobných riffech vyrůstal a vždy se těším na takovou tu chladnou a tajemnou náladu, která nahrávky téhle death metalové legendy provází. Letos jsem velmi spokojen. AUTOPSY jsou ve formě, kterou by jim mohla kdejaká mladá kapela závidět. Stále neztratili touhu pitvat, pořád mě dokáží donutit neposlouchat nic jiného. Venku zrovna prší a přivezli mi další tělo. Většinou vstávám brzy ráno, když je ještě klid. Nemrtví se mnou rozmlouvají a já se houpu do rytmu. Beru do rukou skalpel a řvu do tichých chodeb nemocnice jejich texty. Zavazuji černé pytle a věším štítky na palce. Všude kolem mě je chlad a smrt. Stejně jako na nové desce "Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts". Autopsy report dated October 27, 2023. Patient was brought in already in a state of absolute decomposition. He was missing some organs, his bones were broken and instead of eyes, two black pits were looking at me. I'll make the first incision. The scalpel is freshly sharpened, so I'm doing a nice job. I have the nagging feeling that I know this man from somewhere. I separate the flesh from the bone and the whole autopsy is like a morbid symphony. I know where I saw him. Every morning in the mirror, it's me. I'm cutting up my own body. I find the whole thing funny, I like the exaggeration, but most of all I like the music that flows to me from the speakers like fresh blood. AUTOPSY are back, in full force and with the desire to cut you into small pieces.

Sonically, everything is absolutely fine. I like that kind of rawness, the horror touch. If you've ever seen a movie from the 80's where beasts roamed the streets and ladies screamed in pain and fear, you probably know what I'm writing about. AUTOPSY are such an original band that you can always recognize them by the first few notes. This year's album is a loose continuation of the cruel and dirty series from previous years.


Here again you will find frequent changes of pace. Fast, deadly passages, played on the border of madness, alternate with doom, scary ones. This is the masters' patent and nobody else can do it like them. Add to that the typical and unmistakable vocals of master Chris Reifert and you can't help but love this pack. They have been with me my entire metal life and the last few years have felt like dead water. Of course, we all kind of know in advance what we're going to get, so it's more a matter of whether or not I, as a fan, enjoy the novelty. I do, folks. After all, I grew up on similar riffs and I always look forward to that kind of cold and mysterious mood that accompanies the recordings of this death metal legend. This year I am very satisfied. AUTOPSY are in a form that any young band could envy. They still haven't lost the desire to dissect, they still manage to make me listen to nothing else. It's raining outside and they brought me another body. I usually get up early in the morning when it's still quiet. The undead talk to me and I sway to the beat. I pick up my scalpel and scream their lyrics into the silent corridors of the hospital. I tie black bags and hang tags on my thumbs. There is coldness and death all around me. Just like on the new album "Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts". This is an album that was once again recorded from the heart and is a must for any fan of the band. Autopsy report, October 27, 2023. Mám rád ty chvíle napětí, než otevřu další rakev. Jsem zvědavý, jaké ukrývá tajemství. Ve starých hrobech jsou pochováni prokletí kněží, vrazi i svatí. Dnes jsem byl opravdu překvapen. Náhrobek byl už hodně starý, plesnivý a pokrytý rostlinami. Začal jsem kopat a setmělo se. Mraky byly nízko a já u toho poslouchal novou desku polských doom death metalistů MARTYRDOOM. Odkryji několik vrstev a prohlédnu si mrtvolu. Je již ve značném stádiu rozkladu. Jako tohle album, jako hudba, kterou nám tihle maniaci přinášejí. 

Pokud máte tenhle starodávný styl rádi, budete určitě spokojeni. Pánové hrají uvěřitelně, opravdově a upřímně. Je pro mě velmi příjemné kopat další hroby, trávit dlouhé noci v márnicích a u toho poslouchat "As Torment Prevails". Tohle je hudba, která je ohlodaná na kost, na dřeň. Víka od rakví se chvějí strachem a já jsem opravdu spokojený. Smrt je velmi blízko. 

MARTYRDOOM jsou kapelou, jejichž tvorbu lze přirovnat k tomu, co nahrávají smečky jako ASPHYX, HAIL OF BULLETS, IMMOLATION, INCANTATION, OBITUARY, HOODED MENACE, DEMILICH, GRAVE, DISMA, DEAD CONGREGATION, TRIPTYKON. Jedná se o perfektně namíchaný koktejl, po jehož požití budete umírat v nekonečných křečích. Líbí se mi atmosféra celé nahrávky, obdivuji chladný a zničující zvuk. Píšu to často a zde to platí stonásobně, dobrý smrtící kov musí bolet, musí vám vypálit cejch do kůže, musí rozdrásat vaši tvář do krve. Poláci všechno tohle umí. Oceňuji i povedený obal, pod kterým je podepsán mistr Ryszard Wojtyński. "As Torment Prevails" je albem, které patří mezi staré náhrobky, na dávno opuštěná pohřebiště, do katakomb, kde se potkávají přízraky. Jednotlivé skladby mokvají, žhnou i chladí zároveň. Jsou napsány s jasným úmyslem - nechat vás shnít zaživa. Myslím si, že tahle exhumace se povedla na výbornou. Pokud se stejně jako já, rádi a často touláte podzemím a nasáváte s chutí hnilobný pach kobek, tak neváhejte ani chvilku. Přidávejte postupně hlasitost, kývejte se do rytmu, jako staří hrobníci. Polským tmářům se povedlo nahrát desku, která mi je velmi dobrým průvodcem v Hádově říši. Mám rád ty chvíle napětí, než otevřu další rakev. Jsem zvědavý, jaké ukrývá tajemství. Odkryji několik vrstev a prohlédnu si mrtvolu. Je již ve značném stádiu rozkladu. Jako tohle album, jako hudba, kterou nám tihle maniaci přinášejí. Starodávný doom death metalový rituál, u kterého se vám rozpadnou kosti v prach!

I like those moments of suspense before I open another coffin. I wonder what secrets it holds. Cursed priests, murderers and saints are buried in old graves. I was really surprised today. The tombstone was already very old, moldy and covered with plants. I started digging and it got dark. The clouds were low and I was listening to the new album by Polish doom death metallers MARTYRDOOM. I peel back a few layers and examine the corpse. It's already in a considerable state of decomposition. Like this album, like the music these maniacs bring us. 

If you like this ancient style, you'll be pleased. The gentlemen play believable, genuine and sincere. It is very pleasant for me to dig more graves, spend long nights in morgues and listen to "As Torment Prevails". This is music that is gnawed to the bone, to the marrow. The coffin lids are shaking with fear and I'm really happy. Death is very close. 

MARTYRDOOM are a band whose work can be compared to that of bands like ASPHYX, HAIL OF BULLETS, IMMOLATION, INCANTATION, OBITUARY, HOODED MENACE, DEMILICH, GRAVE, DISMA, DEAD CONGREGATION, TRIPTYKON. This is a perfectly mixed cocktail that will leave you dying in endless convulsions. I like the atmosphere of the whole record, I admire the cold and devastating sound. I write this often and it applies here a hundredfold, good death metal must hurt, it must burn a brand into your skin, it must rip your face to blood. The Poles can do all that. I also appreciate the hilarious cover, signed by the master Ryszard Wojtyński. "As Torment Prevails" is an album that belongs among old tombstones, in long-abandoned burial grounds, in catacombs where ghosts meet. The individual tracks wet, glow and chill at the same time. They are written with a clear intention - to let you rot alive. I think that this exhumation has succeeded perfectly. If, like me, you like to wander underground often, and suck in the rotten smell of dungeons with gusto, don't hesitate a moment. Turn up the volume gradually, sway to the rhythm, like the grave diggers of old. The Polish darkies have managed to record a record that is a very good guide for me in the realm of Hades. I like those moments of suspense before I open the next coffin. I wonder what secrets it holds. I peel back a few layers and examine the corpse. It's already in a considerable state of decomposition. Recenze/review - TIDELESS - Eye of Water (2023)

Chodím pozorovat řeku každý den. Vstávám brzy, když se ještě kolem převaluje mlha. Mráz v kostech, poslouchám ticho. Dnes je ale něco jinak. Mám pocit, že se zastavil čas, že ke mě proudí energie z jiné dimenze. Nejsem totiž sám. Mám s sebou novou desku kalifornských doom death metalistů TIDELESS. Je prostým faktem, že jsem sepsání mých slov odkládal delší dobu. Důvod se sám nabízí. Raději jsem poslouchal a toulal se kolem řeky, než abych psal. 

Mám to takhle nastavené s dobrou hudbou pokaždé. Dostane se mi do žil, převeze mě na druhou stranu, do nekonečné země stínů. Mám rád ty krásné chvíle, když je všude kolem mě klid a zní jenom muzika. Zastavím se a dívám se do prázdna. Na vlnách se houpe mrtvé tělo. Nebo je to jen přelud? 


Američanům se povedlo namíchat velmi chladný a smutný koktejl z tradičního doomu (DISEMBOWELMENT, MY DYING BRIDE), death metalové klasiky (THE CHASM) a kousků experimentálních, progresivních pasáží. Z poslední doby mi jejich přístup trošku připomíná vynikající nové album MY LAMENT ("The Season Came Undone"), které vyšlo letos. Kapela si zachovává pochmurné, smutné nálady, ale přidává i spoustu zajímavých a neotřelých momentů. Jasně, na posluchače to klade určité nároky. Je nutné, abyste měli bohatou fantazii a byli přístupní. Tvrdím to pořád, hudba se musí poslouchat srdcem. U téhle smečky to platí dvojnásob. Je pro mě hrozně příjemné jen si tak sednout a nechat se unášet. Najednou se přede mnou odehrávají šedivé a tajemné obrazy, zpomaluje se mi tep a dýchám pod povrchem. Zvukově je album velmi dobře ošetřené (Charlie Koryn), vše zní průzračně, čitelně a křišťálově. Můžete se tak v klidu soustředit na jednotlivé melodie, užívat si chlad, tmu a beznaděj, které ze songů doslova odkapávají. Přiznám se bez mučení, najednou šly všechny ostatní nahrávky stranou a hlavní hudbou, která zněla všude kolem mě, byla deska "Eye of Water". V autě, v práci, na rušné ulici, ale hlavně u chladné řeky, kde se potkávala mlha s temnotou a věčností. Všude jsem se vznášel, užíval si, toulal se v myšlenkách a přestával dýchat. Mám rád ty krásné chvíle, když je všude kolem mě klid a zní jenom hudba. Zastavím se a dívám se do prázdna. Na vlnách se houpe mrtvé tělo. Nebo je to jen přelud? Doom death metalový otisk mrazivých myšlenek! Melancholie, smutek, samota duše!

I go river watching every day. I wake up early when the fog is still rolling in. Chill in my bones, listen to the silence. But today is different. I feel like time has stopped, that energy from another dimension is flowing towards me. I am not alone. I have with me the new album by Californian doom death metallers TIDELESS. It is a simple fact that I have been putting off writing my words for a long time. The reason offers itself. I'd rather listen and wander around the river than write.

I have it set up that way with good music every time. It gets into my veins, transports me to the other side, to the endless land of shadows. I like those beautiful moments when it's quiet all around me and there's only music. I stop and look into the void. A dead body swaying on the waves. Or is it just a mirage?


The Americans managed to mix a very cold and sad cocktail of traditional doom (DISEMBOWELMENT, MY DYING BRIDE), death metal classics (THE CHASM) and bits of experimental, progressive passages. Of late, their approach reminds me a bit of the excellent new album MY LAMENT ("The Season Came Undone"), released earlier this year. The band maintains the somber, sad moods, but adds a lot of interesting and novel moments. Sure, it makes some demands on the listener. It's necessary to have a rich imagination and be accessible. I say it all the time, music has to be listened to with the heart. That goes double for this pack. It's so nice for me to just sit back and let myself go. Suddenly, grey and mysterious images are unfolding in front of me, my heart rate slows and I'm breathing beneath the surface. Sound-wise the album is very well treated (Charlie Koryn), everything sounds clear and crystal clear. You can concentrate on the individual melodies, enjoying the coldness, darkness and despair that literally drip from the songs. I'll admit without torture, suddenly all the other records went aside and the main music that sounded all around me was "Eye of Water". In the car, at work, on a busy street, but mostly by a cold river where fog met darkness and eternity. Everywhere I was floating, enjoying myself, wandering in my thoughts and stopping to breathe. I love those beautiful moments when all around me is peace and only music. I stop and look into the void. There's a dead body bobbing on the waves. Or is it just a mirage? Doom death metal imprint of cold thoughts! Melancholy, sadness, loneliness of the soul!
