Malé městečko, které by normálně mělo ospalou atmosféru. Jenže, znáte to (pokud tedy čtete už přes třicet let jako já Kinga), stane se vražda. Lidi dokáží být hnusní, samozřejmě, že jsou jim trnem v oku homosexuálové a jejich boj za sňatky. Myslím, že kniha je hodně aktuální v tom, co se zrovna ve světě děje. Jakoby se do příběhu otiskl všechen ten hnus, který je někdy kolem nás. Před kterým přivíráme oči a díváme se raději na reklamy, protože tam jsou všichni šťastní. Zápletka je jedním slovem skvělá. Eric Rickstad patří již od předchozí knihy Tiché dívky (KNIŽNÍ TIPY - Tiché dívky - Eric Rickstad (2016)) k mým oblíbeným autorům.
Píše zase trošku jinak, než ostatní, umí perfektně vykreslit postavy na malém městě. Zlo je ukryté někde uvnitř. Dlouho jsem ani netušil, kdo je vrah a to mívám většinou velmi dobrý čuch (jako stařík Poirot, říká moje žena). Skvělé je také to, že hlavní hrdinka Sonja s prací detektiva začíná, respektive má první velký případ. Pomalu rozplétá složité vztahy a noří se hluboko do minulosti (tenhle styl mám fakt hodně rád), aby nakonec zjistila věci, o kterých fakt nechcete vědět.
Vše je takové lidské, řekl bych. Kniha čtena na ostrově Rhodos (a zase ten Poirot a jeden z jeho případů) v Řecku (při 40 stupních celsia ve stínu) i na chalupě v horách, kde jsem na sobě musel mít venku deku. Nevadilo mi nic, vedro, ani zima, byl jsem zcela pohlcen a po návratu domů si objednal další díl (už je na cestě). Baví mě styl vyprávění, náhled na život. Pachatelé jsou tady jen lidé, slabí a zlí, autorovi zkrátka věřím, což je pro mě nesmírně důležité. Myslím, že fanoušci poctivých kriminálek budou spokojeni.
Pro mě osobně jsou nejlepší knížky ty, které občas musím odložit, přemýšlet nad tím, kam se může děj vyvinout a směřovat. Donutí mě k zamyšlení. Paradoxem je, že se toho dnes dozvím o lidech víc z detektivek, než z povrchních filozofických úvah. Připadá mi, že se lidstvo jako celek motá v kruhu. Jakoby se nepočítalo s tím, že když budou všichni trávit většinu času na internetu, tak tam nebude nic zlého. Opak je pravdou, stejně jako v knize se na obrazovku otiskla temnoty lůzy. Možná právě proto si raději čtu. A toulám se po lesích. Měl jsem tři týdny dovolenou a kniha od Erica Rickstada mi byla velmi příjemným společníkem. Pokud vás podobné příběhy baví, tak rozhodně na něj nezapomeňte, až půjdete do knihkupectví.
PS: když se začne jeden ze zlounů v městečku ohánět tradiční rodinou a vybízí k cedulím proti homosexuálům, tak mě doslova mrazilo v zádech. Kde já jsem tohle jenom slyšel...

Při poslechu CRESCENT posluchačovi vyplavou na povrch vzpomínky na kapely jako NILE, BELPHEGOR, IMMORTAL, EX DEO. Kapela má velký smysl pro dramaturgii, každý song je samostatným epickým dílem. Zároveň drží album pohromadě v jednom pevném smrtícím celku. Podává se zde jen ten nejkvalitnější jed. Vaše tělo postupně shnije, promění se v prach a bude rozprášeno v poušti. Egypťané mají dle mého skromného názoru velký dar - umí složit motivy, které se velmi dobře pamatují. A je úplně jedno, zda jsou složité, či přehlednější. Troufám si tvrdit, že spousta z vás ucítí písek v ústech, potká mocné faraóny, zažije na vlastní kůži bičování otroka. Pro mě je hudba hlavně o emocích, o schopnosti probudit v posluchači představy. Naplno se oddat stínům. CRESCENT tohle všechno umí na výbornou. Třetí dlouhohrající album v řadě je dle mého nejpovedenější, nejbolestivější a nejuvěřitelnější. Pokud máte jako já rádi, když je smrtící koktejl umíchám z temnoty, chladu a smrti, tak budete určitě spokojeni. "Carving the Fires of Akhet" je k dokonalosti vybroušeným drahokamem, který byl nalezen v krvavém sarkofágu. Vynikající black death metal, u kterého ožívají démoni!

When listening to CRESCENT, memories of bands like NILE, BELPHEGOR, IMMORTAL, EX DEO come to the surface. The band has a great sense of drama, each song is an epic work in its own right. At the same time, they hold the album together in one solid, deadly whole. Only the finest poison is served here. Your body will gradually rot, turn to dust and be scattered in the desert. The Egyptians, in my humble opinion, have a great gift - they can compose motifs that are very memorable. And it doesn't matter whether they are complex or more straightforward. I dare say that many of you will feel the sand in your mouth, meet powerful pharaohs, experience firsthand the scourging of a slave. For me, music is all about emotion, about the ability to awaken the listener's imagination. To fully indulge in the shadows. CRESCENT does all this very well. The third long-playing album in a row is in my opinion the most successful, the most painful and the most believable. If, like me, you like a lethal cocktail made of darkness, coldness and death, you will definitely be satisfied. "Carving the Fires of Akhet" is a gem cut to perfection that was found in a bloody sarcophagus. Excellent black death metal, where demons come alive!

Ráno jsem vstal a bylo mi divně. Cítil jsem v kostech chlad. V ulicích chodí lidé bez tváří. Místo obličeje mají jen krvavé šmouhy. Postupně jim odpadává maso z těla, až se stanou svým vlastním stínem. Nepomáhají modlitby, ani zázračné léky. Podsvětí zase jednou ukázalo svoji sílu a vyvrhlo na světlo Boží další kapelu, která přesně ví, o čem je temnota. HEXORCIST jsou z Floridy a bezezbytku ctí death metalové zákony svých předků.
Album je hned od začátku ponurou návštěvou starého pohřebiště. Na kůly jsou nabodnuty lebky nepřátel, oltář je potřísněný čerstvou krví. Hniloba, šílenství, bolest a strach. Nic jiného zde nehledejte. Tady se hraje pravý, ortodoxní smrtící kov!
"Evil Reaping Death" určitě ocení fanoušci starých alb MORBID ANGEL, SARCÓFAGO, NECROVORE. Totální blasfemie, maniakální riffy, chaotický výraz, ale také velký tlak a spousta špinavé energie. Vše je neučesané, složené někde hluboko v podzemí. Rozhodně nečekejte nic dobrého ani pozitivního. HEXORCIST vás vezmou na dlouhý výlet bez konce. Budete se brodit po kolena ve zkažené krvi, nasávat pach zkaženého masa. Během poslechu se stanete postavou z úvodu dnešní recenze. Bez tváře, bez světla a bez naděje. Stále tvrdím a i po 30 letech poslechu death metalu si myslím, že se se tenhle styl musí hrát od srdce, poctivě. Američanům věřím každou notu, každý riff. Jejich první dlouhohrající album mě baví poslouchat, i když moc dobře vím, že pánové nevymýšlejí nic nového, ani převratného. Otevírám starou rakev, nedávnou exhumovanou. Byl v ní pochovám starý mnich, který propadl kdysi zlu. Držel v ruce pergamen s tajnými modlitbami pro vyvolávání temných sil. Troufám si tvrdit, že jej HEXORCIST studovali velmi pečlivě. "Evil Reaping Death" je jako špinavá death metalová stoka, která teče i pod vaším městem. Plavou v ní kusy těl, krysy tančí na ostrých střepech a Smrt ještě neřekla poslední slovo. Morbidní, mokvají a plesnivé album, které vám vytrhne srdce z těla! Temný masakr!

I got up this morning and I felt weird. I felt a chill in my bones. There are faceless people walking the streets. Instead of faces, they have only bloody smudges. Gradually the flesh falls off their bodies until they become their own shadows. Prayers don't help, nor do miracle cures. Once again, the underworld has shown its power and brought to the light of God another band that knows exactly what darkness is all about. HEXORCIST are from Florida and they honor the death metal laws of their ancestors to no end.
Right from the start, the album is a sombre visit to an old burial ground. The skulls of enemies are impaled on stakes, the altar is stained with fresh blood. Rot, madness, pain and fear. Look no further. This is where the true, orthodox death metal is played!
"Evil Reaping Death" will definitely be appreciated by fans of old albums MORBID ANGEL, SARCÓFAGO, NECROVORE. Total blasphemy, manic riffs, chaotic expression, but also a lot of pressure and dirty energy. Everything is unkempt, composed somewhere deep underground. Definitely don't expect anything good or positive. HEXORCIST will take you on a long trip without end. You will wade knee-deep in rotten blood, sucking in the smell of rotten flesh. As you listen, you will become the character from the opening of today's review. Faceless, lightless and hopeless. I still say, and after 30 years of listening to death metal, I still think this style needs to be played from the heart, honestly. I trust the Americans with every note, every riff. I enjoy listening to their first full-length album, even though I know very well that the gentlemen are not inventing anything new or groundbreaking. I'm opening an old coffin, recently exhumed. In it was buried an old monk who had once succumbed to evil. He was holding a parchment with secret prayers to invoke dark forces. I dare say the HEXORCIST studied it very carefully. "Evil Reaping Death" is like a dirty death metal sewer that runs under your town. There are pieces of bodies floating in it, rats dancing on sharp shards and Death hasn't said the last word yet. A morbid, swampy and moldy album that will rip your heart out! Dark carnage!
A few questions - interview with death metal band from USA - HEXORCIST.
Ave, can you introduce your band to our readers? – When was it founded and what style of music do you play etc.?
- Hexorcist was created in early 2019 with the idea of playing Music we wanted to listen to. We grew up listening and admiring the early wave of Death Metal, when Black, Death and Thrash Metal were very similar. Our main influences are early Morbid Angel, Possessed, early Death and Slayer. With the new resurgence of Death Metal in the last decade we wanted to do something different while still paying homage to the pioneers of the genre.
Where and under what conditions were you recording the new album? Who was in charge of sound, production and mastering?
- We recorded the full length in the same studio we recorded the demo. Is called The Shack, and it was recorded by Ferny Coipel. We wanted to obtain that late 80’s sound, specially for the guitars so all guitars are recorded using an 80s guitar amp and head. we used old Peavey amps for the bass and guitars, we were lucky that Ferny Coipel understood exactly how we wanted it to sound, he’s a true magician of the black arts.
- We also didn’t want an over produced sound, or too polished. We wanted to keep some of the raw sound you get while rehearsing. Drums, guitars and bass were recorded live at the same time. The mastering was done by Loic Fontaine from Krucyator Studios. The mastering managed to keep the sound natural while at the same time giving it some heaviness.
How many copies were released and which medium was used for this new edition (CD, digital, vinyl, cassette)?
- The CD version was limited to 1000 copies through Memento Mori, Cassette was limited to 100 copies through Godz ov War, and the vinyl which is coming out at the end of August will be limited to 300 copies. We really wanted to release it in all mediums and were lucky enough to work with three great labels to make it possible.
Who is the author of the lyrics and how were they created and about what do the lyrics deal with?
- The lyrics are all written by the guitarist. When we started the band we discussed lyrics and we wanted to keep that old school spirit when lyrics were about Evil and Satan. The lyrics have to represent the band’s ideologies and sound. He does his best work when he’s drunk out of his mind, somehow alcohol inspires him. The lyrics are fueled by scotch, vodka, anything our guitar player can get his hands on, the lyrics are combination of hatred, disassociation, and references to things that that come from various sources (ie old grimoires, strange literature, etc) most of the lyrics were actually written in one night in a stream of consciousness (he was probably hammered)
Who created the logo of the band, and who took care of the graphics and the website? What about you and social networks? Do you consider these things important?
- The logo was created by Morbid Art. I became familiar with their work when he created the logo of my other band Gnosis, and I will not use anyone else. The Artwork for the album was done by Art Militia, I have for a long time been a fan of his artwork and when he posted that painting it fit perfectly with my vision for the album cover. We are hoping to work with him in future releases. So far we only have a Bandcamp, and a Facebook page. I think social media along with many of the printed and online zines are very important for newer bands to get noticed by people. It used to be in the old days that tape trading and printed zines were the only way to know new bands, but times have changed and so have the mediums of promotion.
Which label did you choose for releasing your album and why this label? Are you satisfied by how your label represents you and takés care about you?
- We worked with three great labels for the release of Evil Reaping Death. We reached out to a few labels and Memento Mori, a label with a great history of Death Metal releases, approached us first and offered to release the album on CD. We were then approached by Unholy Prophecies and Godz Ov War to release them on vinyl and cassette. We are very happy with the way everything turned out. Initially we had no idea the demo and the album were going to be so widely accepted. All three labels have done a great job of promoting the album and getting it out for people to listen.
Which bands do you idolise and where do you get your inspiration?
- Man that’s a 20 page question right there. But if I had to choose a few I’d say bands I admire would be Absu, Morbid Angel (Early), Kat, Mercyful Fate, Zemial and Darkthrone. Inspiration when playing really comes from what the guitarist plays. As a drummer I try to follow the feeling of the music to the best of my abilities. To me it has never been about showing off, as a drummer my intention is to make the music flow together. The guitar player listens to much the same, also maybe even more Polish Bands, Dragon, Destroyers, Imperator, etc also we both like these bands as well as a lot of Eastern European bands from Hungry like Pokolgep, Ossian, and he’s really into Sarcofago and the Brazilian and South American stuff as we all are.
Did you send your record to some Labels - which are the labels? How was the response?
- Yeah we sent the demo to a lot of labels. Some never answered, and some answered when we had already agreed to a deal with other labels. We sent it to Invictus, Hammerheart, HHR, NWN, and a few more. Some answered back and really want to work with us, let’s see what happens once we record our second full length.
How many gigs have you played? Which type of gigs do you prefer, whether it's (clubs or festivals) and which of your performances would you consider as the best?
- We haven’t played any live shows, and we are not really planning on it at the moment. We talked about it when we first formed the band. Locally we have no support, or following so if we end up playing live in the future it will definitely not be a local show.
What about your plans for the future? What do you want to achieve with the band?
- Right now we have an already recorded split that will be released through Godz ov War on 7”. We got plans to enter the studio and record two more songs for another split with a great Mexican band. After that we are going to focus on new material for a second full length, hopefully to be recorded next year. I don’t really have any expectations, I just want to make music I’d want to listen to and keep releasing new material. This is Death Metal, you don’t play this music to get famous or make money.

Poslední dobou mi vadí uřvaný svět kolem. Neustálá přetvářka a klam. Lidé, co něco umí, jsou zapomenuti a místo nich se neustále mluví jen o umělých tvářích. Možná právě proto rád a často usedám pod starý strom s knihou. Něco dobrého k pití a k tomu muziku, co mám rád. PARADISE LOST jsou mojí srdcovou kapelou od jejich počátků. Mám dokonce někde doma i první demonahrávky na kazetách. Kolem zuřila pandemie a já chodil po lesích. Když jsem se vrátil, tak už město spalo.
Asi to bude znít divně, ale já živé záznamy nemám moc rád. Málokdo dokáže přenést ducha reálného koncertu na hudební nosič. Navíc, nebaví mě videa. Ale u PARADISE LOST jsem udělal výjimku. Kapela totiž dokázala doslova zhmotnit vše, co na nich mám rád. Starý dům a v něm hudební klub poblíž bydliště kapely (nahrávalo se v místě zvaném "The Mill"), ve kterém vznikla komorní deska s úžasnou atmosférou, mě uvedl do hry a nebylo návratu.
V téhle podobě je mám opravdu hrozně rád. Smutné, melancholické. Povedl se i zvuk a hlavně výběr songů, dramaturgie. Střídání syrových a zemitých skladeb (kterém mám asi nejraději) s několika jemnějšími. Typický rukopis mistra Grega Mackintoshe a Nick Holmes ve skvělé hlasové formě. Přenos mezi mnou a PARADISE LOST zafungoval na výbornou. V hlavě jsem si promítal film o společných zážitcích a vzpomínal na kamarády, se kterými jsme jezdili na jejich koncerty a už nejsou mezi námi. Ze záznamu je cítit, že vše vznikalo v pohodě, s nadšením, které je u takto dlouho hrajících veteránů až udivující. Žádní unavení muži, ale doom metal zahraný s neskutečnou jiskrou. Tohle není žádné současné retro hrající jen na nostalgickou vlnu, ale skvělý zážitek se vším všudy (gurmáni mi určitě potvrdí) od zkušených klasiků žánru. Člověka napadají až existenční myšlenky, přemýšlí a užívá si vše, co na Britech vždy obdivoval. Poslech se stává doslova filozofickou záležitostí. Niternou, chcete-li. Nebudu vám zde vypisovat jednotlivé skladby (seznam máte dole pod článkem). Album jsem poslouchal vždy v kuse, s nábožným soustředěním. O tomhle je u mě muzika. O emocích, o souznění. O smutku a bolesti, o dlouhých pohledech na vrcholky hor. O starém hřbitově, kde rozmlouváte s nemrtvými, o mlhavém snění. "At the Mill" je dokonalou esencí, doom metalovým zážitkem, který umí jen PARADISE LOST! I smutek může být krásný!

I've been bothered by the world around me lately. The constant pretense and deception. People who can do something are forgotten and instead of them there is always talk of artificial faces. Maybe that's why I often like to sit under an old tree with a book. Something good to drink and the music I like. PARADISE LOST have been my heart band since their early days. I even have the first demo tapes somewhere in my house. There was a pandemic raging and I was walking in the woods. When I came back, the city was asleep.
This may sound strange, but I don't like live recordings very much. Not many people can transfer the spirit of a real concert to a music medium. Plus, I'm not into videos. But with PARADISE LOST, I made an exception. The band managed to literally materialize everything I love about them. The old house and the music club near where the band lived (they recorded at a place called "The Mill"), where they made an intimate record with an amazing atmosphere, put me in the game and there was no going back.
I really like them in this form. Sad, melancholy. The sound and especially the choice of songs, the dramaturgy was good. The alternation of raw and earthy songs (which is probably my favourite) with some softer ones. Typical handwriting of the master Greg Mackintosh and Nick Holmes in great vocal form. The transfer between me and PARADISE LOST worked perfectly. I was running a film in my head of our experiences together and reminiscing about friends we used to go to their shows with who are no longer with us. From the record you can feel that everything was created in a relaxed way, with an enthusiasm that is almost astonishing in veterans who have been playing for so long. No tired men, but doom metal played with incredible spark. This is no contemporary retro playing only on a nostalgic wave, but a great experience with all the trimmings (foodies will surely confirm me) from the experienced classics of the genre. It makes one think almost existential thoughts, reflect and enjoy everything one has always admired about the Brits. Listening becomes a literally philosophical affair. Intrinsic, if you will. I won't list individual tracks here (the list is below the article). I always listened to the album in one piece, with devout concentration. That's what music is about for me. It's about emotions, about harmony. About sadness and pain, about long views of mountain tops. The old graveyard where you talk to the undead, the hazy dreams. "At the Mill" is the perfect essence, a doom metal experience that only PARADISE LOST can do! Even sadness can be beautiful!
Nejdřív vše vypadalo jako setkání mladých lidí, kteří se ve svých volných chvílích zajímají o satanismus. Přetvářka, touha vidět nahou ženu, taky spousta alkoholu a falešných řečí. Jeden z nich to ale bral smrtelně vážně. Bez slitování jí prořízl hrdlo. Usmíval se a spokojeně se díval na svůj krvavý nůž. Nejhorší bylo, že Satan nakonec opravdu přišel. Pochválil svého sluhu a vedl dál jeho kroky. Zabil je všechny. Bez slitování. Hloupá hra se zase jednou změnila v masakr.
A hráli k tomu turečtí black death metaloví maniaci SARINVOMIT. Kapela moc dobře ví, o čem je Hádova říše. Absolutně bestiální záležitost pro všechny, kteří rádi a často tráví svůj čas ve společnosti všech rohatých. Mám tedy 666 důvodů pro poslech. Temnota a smrt!
"Awaken Ye Impious Hordes of Shaitan" je odkazem smeček jako MORBOSIDAD, ABHORER, BEHERIT, SARCÓFAGO, IMPIETY, NIFELHEIM, BLASPHEMY. Turci umí své řemeslo na výbornou. Deska je doslova podmanivá, se skvělým zvukem, parádním obalem. Splněno je vše, co od dobrého black death metalu požaduji. Oltář je připraven, stačí jen sehnat vhodnou oběť. Troufám si tvrdit, že podobný styl je stále velmi přitažlivý, záhadný, magický. Připomíná svět po nukleární bombě (tímto tématem se kapela také ve svých textech zaobírá, stejně jako satanismem, blasfemií a kritikou církve). SARINVOMIT jsou ortodoxní v tom, co hrají a vytvářejí. Pro mě osobně je velkou výhodou, že jim jejich hudbu věřím. Na rozdíl od jiných, mnohdy o hodně víc protěžovaných smeček, jsou Turci upřímní a nekompromisní. Hudba připomíná návštěvu morbidní galerie. Na obrazech jsou znázorněna krutá a ošklivá témata, plná rouhání, mučení, smrti a záhrobí. Během celé desky se jde absolutně na hranu, posluchačovi není darováno nic zadarmo. Nemusí to vyhovovat každému, ale příznivci temných, pomalu hnijících desek, by mohli být spokojeni. Jedná se zkrátka o chorobami nasáklý starý poctivý black death metal. Pokud máte rádi smrt v této podobě, pravděpodobně budete tuhle nahrávku točit ve svých přehrávačích do skonání světa. Vy ostatní se pokřižujete a vezmete nohy na ramena. Osobně musím mít na SARINVOMIT náladu. Když se setmí a městem se začnou ploužit divné stíny. Když se mraky poprvé dotknou země. A když mě povolá záhrobí do zbraně. Pak jsem prokletý. Závěr je jednoduchý. Tohle je pravé peklo se vším, co k tomu patří. Berte a nebo nechte být. Inferno!

Tušil jsem to celý život. Mimo náš svět existuje ještě jiný rozměr, jiná dimenze. Píše se o ní ve starých okultních knihách. Temnota. Už jen to slovo. Každý si představí hluboké podzemí, ale je to hlavně stav duše, rozpoložení. Najdete ji ve vesmíru, vysoko v horách, ve starých kobkách, ale hlavně uvnitř sebe. Pro mě osobně je i hlavním tématem hudby INFERNA. Kapela s nepopiratelným talentem, která je natolik osobitá, že ne každý ji dokáže pochopit. Možná právě proto jejich tvorba dávno přesáhla hranice České republiky i podzemí.
Není divu. INFERNO chápou hudbu po svém, jsou originální, nebojí se experimentovat, být jiní a odlišní. I letos se jim vše povedlo na výbornou. Novinka není albem, o kterém můžete něco říci po několika dnech poslechu. Naopak. Musíte s ním nějakou dobu žít, vracet se k němu, rozplétat jednotlivé motivy, přemýšlet nad nimi. Můžou být kulisou pro černou modlitbu, noční můrou i snovou krvavou meditací.
Líbí se mi, že každá deska je trošku jiná, cesty Satanovy se zdají být opravdu nevyzpytatelné, ale zároveň si INFERNO zachovávají vlastní tvář a výraz. Letos mi album nejvíc připomíná plavbu přes rozbouřenou řeku Styx. Houpám se v rytmu divokých bicích, do těla se mi zařezávají ostré riffy. V dálce, na druhém břehu, slyším mokvající a surové vokály. Vše je zabalené v černé mlze a vynikajícím syrovém zvuku (Stephen Lockhart). Hej démoni, máme tu co do činění s excelentní, osobitou, zajímavou, neotřelou hudbou, která přesahuje hranice obyčejných lidí. Satan dnes sedí o hodně pevněji na svém trůnu, není žádným tajemstvím, že vzduch je čím dál tím víc zkažený. Troufám si tvrdit, že "Paradeigma (Phosphenes of Aphotic Eternity)" si poslechne vždy rád i on, pán pekla. Stejně jako já. Nahrávka má v sobě totiž takové to dravé vnitřní pnutí, chvění, neklid. Je éterická a zemitá zároveň. Svým způsobem vznešená, záhadná. Jako bych sestoupil do starého sklepení a procházel se nekonečnými chodbami Hádovy říše. Nakonec nikdy nenaleznu spočinutí, ale jen svoje tělo, ukřižované hlavou dolů. Tušil jsem to celý život. Mimo náš svět existuje ještě jiný rozměr, jiná dimenze. Píše se o ní ve starých okultních knihách. Temnota. INFERNU se ji podařilo zhmotnit. Magická esence black metalové tmy!

The new album is not an album you can say something about after a few days of listening. On the contrary. You have to live with it for a while, come back to it, untangle individual motifs, think about them. They can be the backdrop for a black prayer, a nightmare and a dreamlike bloody meditation.
I like that each album is a little different, Satan's ways seem to be really devious, but at the same time INFERNO keep their own face and expression. This year, the album reminds me most of sailing across the turbulent river Styx. I'm swaying to the rhythm of the ferocious drums, sharp riffs cutting into my body. In the distance, on the other bank, I hear wet and raw vocals. It's all wrapped in black fog and superb raw sound (Stephen Lockhart). Hey demons, we're dealing with excellent, distinctive, interesting, novel music that transcends the boundaries of ordinary people. Satan sits a lot more firmly on his throne these days, it's no secret that the air is getting more and more corrupt. I dare say that "Paradeigma (Phosphenes of Aphotic Eternity)" will always be a pleasure to listen to even for him, the lord of hell. So do I. The record has that predatory inner tension, trembling, restlessness. It's ethereal and earthy at the same time. In a way, sublime, mysterious. It's like descending into an old dungeon and walking the endless corridors of Hades. In the end, I will never find rest, but only my body, crucified upside down. I've suspected it all my life.
