Podivných znamení jsem si začal všímat již před nějakou dobou. Obrácené kříže, namalované krví. Hořící pentagramy, jakoby se mnou peklo rozmlouvalo. Začal jsem mít děsivé sny a vyhledával jsem stín. Potom se to stalo. Jedné chladné noci, na začátku března, jsem se probudil. Krve by se ve mě nedořezal. Musel jsem vstát, vlastně ani nevím proč, a vyjít na ulici. Tam už na mě čekali. Démoni ze starých časů. Ihned mě odvedli na staré pohřebiště a tam mě obětovali zlým bohům. 

A to všechno se dělo v divokých rytmech debutové desky chorvatských maniaků NEKROZA. Kapely, která je složena ze samých zkušených muzikantů (BLACK CULT, CZAAR, CASTRUM, SVITOGOR, OVERLORD). Hned od prvních tónů je slyšet, že pánové mají extrémní metal v krvi. Novinka "Procesija ucrvanih" se mi ihned zaryla do mozku a rád jsem se k ní vracel. 


Pokud jste dávno ztratili víru v lidský rod a připadá vám současný svět divné místo k životu, potom by se vám mohla tahle nahrávka líbit. Je po okraj narvaná surovou smrtí, temnými melodiemi, misantropií a morbidními ozvěnami z nekonečného vesmíru. Je opravdu znát, že pod NEKROZOU jsou podepsáni veteráni chorvatské metalové scény. Zvuk, obal, produkce, vše sedí perfektně na svých místech. Fanoušek se tak může soustředit na jednotlivé motivy, na pasáže plné surových melodií. Už jste někdy viděli šíleného člověka, který se kvůli velkým bolestem hlavy rozeběhl proti zdi? Padl potom na zem a z hlavy mu vytekl mozek zasažený snětí. Možná takhle jednou dopadne celý lidský druh. Než se tak ale stane, doporučuji vám, abyste poslouchali tohle album hodně nahlas. Osobně jsem to mnohokrát zkusil, až se stala nahrávka velmi častým hostem v mém přehrávači. Má v sobě totiž úplně vše, co chci a potřebuji. Postupy jsou sice staroškolské, nejedná se o nic nového, ale není to ani jen obyčejné řemeslo. Ze skladeb cítím něco navíc, kus opravdovosti a ryzosti. Možná a nebo právě proto jsem se rozhodl o téhle smečce napsat. Připomíná mi totiž staré, klasické kapely z devadesátých let minulého století. Jejich nadšení a odhodlání. "Procesija ucrvanih" je pro mě zkrátka albem, které mě zasáhlo na těch správných místech. Už teď se těším, až se zase probudím uprostřed noci a půjdu na hřbitov spolu s démony. Nechám se mnohokrát pohřbít zaživa, s chutí opustím náš zkažený svět. Abych se za zvuků téhle desky vrátil silnější, než kdy dřív. Mrtvolný, hnilobný a surový death metal, plný temnoty a morbidních melodií! Totální misantropie!

I started noticing strange signs a while ago. Inverted crosses, painted in blood. Burning pentagrams, as if hell was talking to me. I began to have terrifying dreams and I sought the shadow. Then it happened. One cold night in early March, I woke up. The blood wouldn't finish cutting into me. I had to get up, I don't really know why, and go out into the street. They were waiting for me there. Demons from the old days. They took me immediately to the old burial ground and sacrificed me to the evil gods.

And all this was happening to the wild rhythms of the debut album of Croatian maniacs NEKROZA. The band, which is composed of all experienced musicians (BLACK CULT, CZAAR, CASTRUM, SVITOGOR, OVERLORD). From the very first notes you can hear that the gentlemen have extreme metal in their blood. The new song "Procesija ucrvanih" immediately got stuck in my brain and I liked coming back to it.


If you have long since lost faith in the human race and find the current world a strange place to live, then you might like this record. It's packed to the brim with raw death, dark melodies, misanthropy and morbid echoes from an endless universe. You can really tell that NEKROZA is signed by veterans of the Croatian metal scene. The sound, the cover, the production, everything fits perfectly in place. The fan can concentrate on individual motifs, on passages full of raw melodies. Have you ever seen a crazy person running against the wall because of a big headache? Then he fell to the floor and his brain popped out of his head from the anthrax. Maybe one day the whole human species will end up like that. But before that happens, I suggest you listen to this album very loudly. Personally, I tried it many times until the record became a very frequent guest in my player. It has everything I want and need in it. The procedures are old-school, it's nothing new, but it's not just a simple craft either. I feel something extra, a piece of genuineness and purity from the compositions. Maybe or maybe that's why I decided to write about this pack. It reminds me of the old, classic bands from the 1990s. Their enthusiasm and determination. "Procesija ucrvanih" is simply an album that hit me in the right places. I'm already looking forward to waking up in the middle of the night again and going to the cemetery with the demons. I'll let myself be buried alive many times, eager to leave our corrupt world. To come back stronger than ever to the sound of this record. Dead, rotten and raw death metal, full of darkness and morbid melodies! Total misanthropy!

Určitě znáte ten pocit, když se ráno probudíte a něco je špatně. Zdá se vám, že vaše tělo uvnitř hnije. Bolí vás hlava a klepou se ruce. Jste jako závislý, který nedostal svoji drogu. Jste rádi sami. Vyhledáváte temné kouty a všichni kolem vás vám připadají příliš veselí. Hudba je krásná v tom, že ji můžete aplikovat v různém stavu mysli. Existuje klidný a pomalý smrtící kov, existuje i rychlý, u kterého si vyčistíte hlavu. A pak je tu ten technický, komplikovaný a náročný, jako hrají američtí REPLICANT. 

S touto smečkou jste se mohli na našich stránkách již setkat. Máme dokonce i krátký rozhovor. Odkazy naleznete dole pod článkem. Osobně se mi vždy na kapele líbilo, že sice hrají složitě, ale jejich alba se velmi dobře poslouchají. Chce to jen náležitý stav mysli, potřebnou dávku fantazie a otevřenou mysl. Potom si jejich novinku "Infinite Mortality" určitě vychutnáte. 


Temnota se ukrývá v každém z nás. REPLICANT vzali veškeré zlé a ošklivé myšlenky a vytáhli je pomocí nové desky na povrch. U některých songů padám z vysoké skály po zádech do propasti, u jiných se bořím po pás v krvavých močálech. Za vše může i čitelný a masivní zvuk (AJ Viana at AJ Viana Productions) i obal (Alli Tuttle), který přesně vyjadřuje to, co se na albu odehrává. Disonantní smrtící kov, s příměsí techniky, špíny a hnisu. Ano, staré rány se otevírají, smrt je zase jednou hodně blízko a kývá spokojeně hlavou. Pánové dokáží napsat skladby, které na mě působí jako vážná muzika. Propracované motivy, které jednou žhnou a pálí, jindy drásají. Přenesených emocí je velké množství a mají různé odstíny tmavých barev. Pokud jste fanoušci třeba takových MORBID ANGEL, ULCERATE, GORGUTS, DEMILICH, BOLT THROWER, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, WORMED, budete určitě spokojeni. Na novince naleznete vše potřebné k tomu, abyste se naplno ponořili do černých myšlenek. Někdy si připadám v dnešním světě jako svázaný ve svěrací kazajce. Jsem normální já nebo ti, kdo žijí za zdí? Otázek je až příliš mnoho. Mám rád, když je ve mě kapela dokáže probudit, donutí mě přemýšlet, vracet se a stále objevovat další a další pasáže. "Infinite Mortality" je nahrávkou, která je neklidným negativním opusem z druhé strany, z onoho světa. Pánové se stále snaží posouvat hranice, překračovat je. Myslím si, že se jim to daří na výbornou. Letos dostanete syrový koktejl, umíchaný z těch nejlepších ingrediencí. Stačí jen ochutnat. Jen si dejte pozor, abyste potom nezemřeli v šílených křečích. Technický, disonantní death metal, který vás stáhne do temných močálů lidských myšlenek! Vynikající záležitost pro všechny vaše démony!

I'm sure you know the feeling when you wake up in the morning and something is wrong. You feel like your body is rotting inside. Your head hurts and your hands are shaking. You're like an addict who hasn't got his drug. You like to be alone. You seek out dark corners and everyone around you seems too cheerful. The beauty of music is that you can apply it in different states of mind. There's calm and slow death metal, there's fast metal where you clear your head. And then there's the technical, complicated and challenging one, like American REPLICANT play. 

You may have already encountered this pack on our pages. We even have a short interview. The links can be found at the bottom of the article. Personally, what I've always liked about the band is that although they play complex music, their albums are very easy to listen to. It just takes the proper state of mind, the necessary amount of imagination and an open mind. Then you will definitely enjoy their new album "Infinite Mortality".


The darkness hides within each of us. REPLICANT have taken all the bad and ugly thoughts and brought them to the surface with a new record. Some songs have me falling off a high cliff on my back into the abyss, others have me wading waist deep in bloody swamps. It's all thanks to the clear and massive sound (AJ Viana at AJ Viana Productions) and the cover art (Alli Tuttle), which accurately conveys what's going on in the album. Dissonant death metal, with an admixture of techno, dirt and pus. Yes, old wounds are opening, death is once again very close and nodding its head in satisfaction. The gentlemen can write songs that strike me as serious music. Elaborate motifs that at times burn and scorch, at others they tear. The emotions conveyed are many and come in different shades of dark colours. If you are a fan of such bands as MORBID ANGEL, ULCERATE, GORGUTS, DEMILICH, BOLT THROWER, DEATHSPELL OMEGA, WORMED, you will be satisfied. On the new release you will find everything you need to fully immerse yourself in black thoughts. Sometimes I feel like I'm tied up in a straitjacket in today's world. Am I normal or are those who live behind the wall? There are too many questions. I love it when a band can bring them out in me, make me think, go back and keep discovering more and more passages. "Infinite Mortality" is a record that is a restless negative opus from the other side, from the other world. The gentlemen are always trying to push the boundaries, to cross them. I think they are succeeding very well. This year you get a raw cocktail, mixed with the best ingredients. All you have to do is taste it. Just make sure you don't die of mad cramps afterwards. Technical, dissonant death metal that will drag you into the dark swamps of human thoughts! Excellent stuff for all your demons!

Interview with death metal band from Italy - WHISKEY & FUNERAL.

Ave WHISKEY & FUNERAL! I am currently listening your new album “Thy Malignant” and I can´t help but think that this is the kind of music which will be played during the end of the world. I think it is a great masterpiece. How do you feel about your new album? Have you received any feedbacks? From fans for example? Have you played new songs live already? Do they work?

Hi my friend, first of all thank u for your interest and for your support. Thank u for supporting the band and the underground. I’m very satisfied to know that you like the album. For us is always a pleasure. I can say to you that the album is just published, so is very soon to speak about the reactions. But I can say to you that no album before this one, has been received like this. But we are no surprise, we know we have outdone ourselves. Every one of us worked hard in every aspect. The technique, the execution, the sounds, nothing is improvised. We will play live six song for the new album. There will be no pauses, there will be no words. Only satanic death metal and brutality.


How do WHISKEY & FUNERAL compose? Are you a traditional band who go to the rehearsal room and compose or you prefer going online and send your ideas via email? I am really interested in your composing process.

In reality we compose in a very simple way. We all live in a small area, and we have our sound stage down the stars, you know. When we get out from our work, we take the beers and we go down to play. All together. We play death metal from 15 years , is very simple for us.

Lyrics are a separated topic of WHISKEY & FUNERAL. Who is the author of your lyrics? And what are your lyrics about? Where do you find inspiration for your songs? The lyrics on “Thy Malignant” just fit so perfectly to the music. What was first – music or lyrics?

Sorry but I don’t remember the first. I am the writer of all lyrics ( you are speaking with Francesco “UNDER” Andrei) and the main theme is always the horror, the attraction to darkness and the pure sense of entertainment. We take inspirations from many film, you know, Lucio Fulci, Mario Bava, Dario Argento, Roger Corman, John Carpenter. They are the masters of horror. We follow their teaching.


I have to admit that the cover for "Thy Malignant" is excellent - it fits the music perfectly! It's literally scary. How did you choose the cover and who is the author? Did you hear new songs beforehand for inspiration?

Yes the cover is an idea of Stefano , and the author is Roberto Toderico, an artist that work for other extreme band in Italy. I think Stefano wanted an antichristian image for that album. And I think that this Christ monster is very suited. In the song The 13th Apostle we said “ you are the monsters, you are the liars “. However we wanted also a death metal image. You have to understand immediately that inside this album you will listen nothing but a fucini speed death metal from the underground.

The sound of the album is great. It is dark, cold and sharp at the same time. Which studio did you chose for recording? Did you have any opinions about the final sound and mastering, were you able to change anything?

The album was recorded and mixed at VM Studio by our friend Silvio Gentili, the best producer in the world. No trigger were used on this album the drum you can listen is totally acoustics. My friend, we respect the other point of views but I listen many extreme albums, and there are many plastic music. Drums without dynamics, non existent bass, guitars of plastic. Our album sound like a death metal album like Once Upon The Cross, with modern sound. Modern sound, no plastic sound. Is different.


The new album was published by Tribulación Productions. Why this label? Were you satisfied with their work?

Is the second album with Tribulacion and with our friend Mauricio Sanchez. The album is a coproduction with others two label, WP & RO Prod / Sevared Records. They are fantastic. They support the real underground and they are true fan of this music. We hope that our collaboration will continue in the future. We are proud of our choice.

You have been playing since 2005. How was the beginning of your band? How did you create the band and what was the first impulse to build something death metal? Did you have any idols? How was it to play death metal in Italy?

Damn we've grown old. We have been friends for a long time, you know when we were 18, we smoke marjuana and listened Cannibal, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Death, Dying Fetus, Sinister. We are real fan. The name of the band was burn in a night after 2 or 3 beers. I was with my friend Maurizio and we were listening The Cult Is Alive (Darkthrone). Inside the album there is a song title Whiskey Funeral. We take the name from this album. From 20 years we came in our studio and we play, smoke and drink. And nothing has changed. Ok now we have family and sons, but we are the same person of 20 years ago. We are a family.


You can see how much you enjoy your music in your band. Do you have any target which you want to hit? Someone wants a famous label, the other one might want to play on big festival.

Our band is not a band with a path out of the underground. You know, to have a career with an extreme band you have to go on tour. Tours are very important for having a career. unfortunately we are 3 workers and we live on our salary. Every tour is much expensive for us. The band in Italy that can go on tour are the band with a lot of money aside. We are poor. But is not important for us. We still here, our albums speak for us. And we are the best death metal band in Italy there are no doubts.

How is it to play death metal in Italy? Do you have a lot of fans on concerts? Do fans support bands? Do they buy CDs, merchandise, etc.? When you organize an event how many people will come?

Is not important for us the fan appreciation. We do our albums, we play our concert and we always sell all our merch. We don't look at what others do, we don't care.

Death metal is a demanding hobby and an even harder lifestyle. What does it mean for you? What do you enjoy most about it and how do you perceive it? How did you actually get to him?

Yes is our way of life . We always think about new song, we still listen Cannibal Corpse all together with our prefer beer. We go to small clubs to listen to underground bands. To play death metal you have to be always a fan of this music and you have to be sincere with those who listen.


I deliberately ask this question to all bands to do some promotion for the future. Please tell us what WHISKEY & FUNERAL is planning soon? What can we look forward to?

My friend nothing to say, Whiskey&Funeral will be always Whiskey&Funeral. We've been doing the same thing for 20 years. We carry the band forward with honor and respect.

Ave WHISKEY & FUNERAL! Právě poslouchám vaši novinku „Thy Malignant“ a říkám si, že takhle nějak bude znít hudba, kterou budou hrát při konci světa. Myslím, že se vám povedl opravdu mistrovský kousek. Jaké jsou tvoje pocity z novinky? Máš už nějaké zpětné vazby od fanoušků? Hráli jste už nové skladby naživo? A jak fungují?

Ahoj, příteli, v první řadě děkuji za tvůj zájem a za tvou podporu. Děkujeme za podporu kapely a undergroundu. Jsem velmi spokojený, že se ti album líbí. Pro nás je to vždycky potěšení. Můžu ti říct, že album právě vyšlo, takže je velmi brzy mluvit o reakcích. Ale můžu vám říct, že žádné album před tímto nebylo přijato takhle. Ale nás to nepřekvapuje, víme, že jsme překonali sami sebe. Každý z nás tvrdě pracoval po všech stránkách. Technika, provedení, zvuky, nic není improvizované. K novému albu zahrajeme naživo šest písní. Nebudou tam žádné pauzy, nebudou tam žádná slova. Jen satanský death metal a brutalita.


Jak vlastně vznikají nové skladby pro WHISKEY & FUNERAL? Jste tradiční kapelou, která se zavře do zkušebny a tam skládá nebo využíváte v dnešní době tolik oblíbený internet a posíláte si nápady emailem? Zajímá mě samotný tvůrčí proces.

Ve skutečnosti skládáme velmi jednoduchým způsobem. Všichni žijeme na malém prostoru a máme zvukovou scénu dole u hvězd, víte. Když přijdeme z práce, vezmeme si pivo a jdeme dolů hrát. Všichni společně. Hrajeme death metal už patnáct let, je to pro nás velmi jednoduché.

Samostatnou kapitolou jsou u WHISKEY & FUNERAL texty. O čem pojednávají na novém albu a kde jsi pro ně bral inspiraci? Na „Thy Malignant“ perfektně sedí k muzice. Co bylo dřív, muzika nebo texty?

Omlouvám se, ale na první si nevzpomínám. Jsem autorem všech textů (mluvíte s Francescem "UNDER" Andreiem) a hlavním tématem je vždy hrůza, přitažlivost temnoty a čistý smysl pro zábavu. Inspiraci čerpáme z mnoha filmů, znáte to, Lucio Fulci, Mario Bava, Dario Argento, Roger Corman, John Carpenter. To jsou mistři hororu. Následujeme jejich učení.


Musím se přiznat, že cover pro „Thy Malignant“ je vynikající – sedne perfektně k hudbě! Jde z něj doslova strach. Jak jste obal vybírali a kdo je jeho autorem? Slyšel třeba dopředu nové skladby pro inspiraci?

Ano, obálka je Stefanovým nápadem a autorem je Roberto Toderico, výtvarník, který pracuje pro jiné extrémní skupiny v Itálii. Myslím, že Stefano chtěl mít na tom albu protikřesťanskou image. A myslím, že tahle Kristova příšera se k tomu hodí. V písni Třináctý apoštol jsme říkali "vy jste monstra, vy jste lháři". Chtěli jsme však také deathmetalovou image. Musíte hned pochopit, že uvnitř toho alba nebudete poslouchat nic jiného než fuciniovský speed death metal z undergroundu.

Skvělý je zvuk celé nahrávky. Je temný, studený a ostrý zároveň. V jakém studiu jste album nahrávali? Mluvili jste jako kapela do výsledného zvuku, masteringu?

Album bylo nahráno a smícháno ve VM Studiu naším přítelem Silviem Gentilim, nejlepším producentem na světě. Na tomto albu nebyly použity žádné spouštěče, bicí, které můžete poslouchat, jsou zcela akustické. Kamaráde, respektujeme i jiné názory, ale já jsem poslouchal hodně extrémních alb a je tam hodně plastické hudby. Bicí bez dynamiky, neexistující basa, plastové kytary. Naše album zní jako deathmetalové album typu Once Upon The Cross s moderním zvukem. Moderní zvuk, žádný plastový zvuk. Je jiný.


Nové album vyšlo u francouzských Tribulación Productions. Proč jste si vybrali právě tento label a jak jste s jeho prací spokojeni?

Je to druhé album s Tribulacion a s naším přítelem Mauriciem Sanchezem. Album vzniklo v koprodukci s dalšími dvěma vydavatelstvími, WP & RO Prod / Sevared Records. Jsou fantastické. Podporují skutečný underground a jsou opravdovými fanoušky této hudby. Doufáme, že naše spolupráce bude pokračovat i v budoucnu. Jsme hrdí na naši volbu.

Historie kapely se datuje do roku 2005. Jak vůbec vznikl nápad, hrát death metal? Kdo byl vaším vzorem? Zavzpomínej pro nás prosím! Jaké to je hrát v death metal v Itálii?

Sakra, zestárli jsme. Jsme kamarádi už dlouho, víš, když nám bylo osmnáct, kouřili jsme marihuanu a poslouchali Cannibal, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Death, Dying Fetus, Sinister. Jsme opravdoví fanoušci. Název kapely vznikl vypálením za noc po dvou nebo třech pivech. Byl jsem s kamarádem Mauriziem a poslouchali jsme The Cult Is Alive (Darkthrone). Uvnitř alba je píseň s názvem Whiskey Funeral. Název jsme převzali z tohoto alba. Od dvaceti let jsme přišli do studia a hrajeme, kouříme a pijeme. A nic se nezměnilo. Dobře, teď máme rodiny a syny, ale jsme pořád stejní jako před dvaceti lety. Jsme rodina.


Na vaší kapele je hrozně vidět, jak vás vaše muzika baví. Máte nějaký cíl, kterého byste chtěli dosáhnout? Pro někoho to je slavné vydavatelství, jiný si chce třeba zahrát na velkém festivalu.

Naše kapela není kapelou, která by hledala cestu ven z undergroundu. Víte, abyste udělali kariéru extrémní kapely, musíte jezdit na turné. Turné jsou pro kariéru velmi důležitá. Bohužel jsme tři zaměstnanci a žijeme ze svého platu. Každé turné je pro nás hodně drahé. Kapela v Itálii, která může jet na turné, je kapela, která má hodně peněz stranou. My jsme chudí. Ale to pro nás není důležité. Pořád jsme tady, naše alba mluví za nás. A že jsme nejlepší deathmetalová kapela v Itálii, o tom není pochyb.

Jaké to vlastně je, hrát death metal v Itálii? Chodí u vás lidi na koncerty? Podporují vás, kupují CD? Když třeba uspořádáte nějakou akci, kolik přijde lidí?

Není pro nás důležité, aby fanoušek nás ocenil. Vydáváme alba, hrajeme koncerty a vždycky prodáme veškerý merch. Nedíváme se na to, co dělají ostatní, je nám to jedno.

Death metal je náročný koníček a ještě těžší životní styl. Co znamená pro tebe? Co tě na něm nejvíc baví a jak jej vnímáš? Jak si se k němu vlastně dostal?

Ano je náš způsob života. Pořád přemýšlíme o nové písni, pořád posloucháme Cannibal Corpse a k tomu si dáváme pivo. Chodíme do malých klubů poslouchat undergroundové kapely. Abyste mohli hrát death metal, musíte být vždy fanouškem této hudby a musíte být upřímní k těm, kteří ji poslouchají.


Tuhle otázku dávám záměrně všem kapelám, aby si udělali trošku propagaci do budoucna. Prozraď nám prosím, co chystají WHISKEY & FUNERAL v nejbližší době? Na co se můžeme těšit?

Setkáváme se několikrát týdně na místním hřbitově. Už od rána jsme neklidní a těšíme se, až vyrazíme. Cestou nakoupím nějaké dobré pití. Zajímavé je, že si dají živí i nemrtví. Připijeme si na zdraví a potom vykopeme první hrob. Tentokrát je to kdysi padlý a prokletý mnich, který za svého života napáchal příliš zla. Rozdrtíme ho na prach a spálíme na popel. Potom si pustíme nějakou dobrou hudbu. Dnes jsem zvolil nové EP argentinských BLODIG. Kapely, která moc dobře ví, o čem je krutá a reálná smrt.

Jedná se o mrazivý, temný death metal s jasným cílem. Zničit vás, totálně rozsekat. Zvolený styl je potom notoricky známý a ovlivněný severskými melodiemi, které se hrály kdysi dávno ve Švédsku. Doporučuji vám tedy dobré pivo, čerstvě vykopaný hrob a volume úplně doprava.


Nad hřbitovem se vznáší mrazivé melodie. Zombie tančí v zuřivých rytmech. Připadám si jako v dobách svého mládí, když světu vládly kapely jako ENTOMBED, NIHILIST, DISMEMBER, SORCERY, ENTRAILS. Pánové se navíc své hrobnické práce ujmuli velmi dobře. Dali si pozor na zvuk, na produkci, ale třeba i na obal, který je opravdu velmi povedený. Není to ale jenom formální stránka věci, která se mi líbí. Skladby v sobě navíc obsahují takovou tu těžko definovatelnou touhu ničit. Možná právě proto se nejlépe nové EP "Graveyard Decay " poslouchá na starých pohřebištích, v katakombách nebo v márnicích. Argentincům se povedla skvělá stylová deska. Líbí se mi, že se snažili do skladeb vložit i vlastní nápady, invenci. Je prostým faktem, že se album velmi dobře poslouchá a rád se k němu vracím. Muzika je mojí společnicí mimo spánku vlastně pořád. Někdy se ale dostane i do mých snů. To potom tančím s těmi nejkrásnějšími zombie, užívám si mrtvolnou atmosféru a těším se, až peklo otevře svoje brány. Stačí jenom vstoupit. Jsem moc rád, že jsem na svých toulkách podzemím BLODIG potkal. Jinak bych byl ochuzen o další ze skvělých morbidních zážitků. Dávám si další pivo a podupávám si nohou do rytmu. Spokojeně se usmívám já, i všichni nemrtví. Hraje se tu hlavně pro ně. Podepisuji vám vlastní krví, že tohle EP řeže tou správnou stranou nože. Setkáváme se několikrát týdně na místním hřbitově. We meet several times a week at the local cemetery. We've been restless since morning and we're excited to get going. I'll buy some good drinks on the way. Interestingly enough, the living and the undead have a drink. We drink a toast and then dig the first grave. This time it's a once fallen and cursed monk who did too much evil in his lifetime. We will crush him to dust and burn him to ashes. Then we'll play some good music. Today I've chosen the new EP from Argentina's BLODIG. A band that knows very well what a cruel and real death is all about.

This is chilling, dark death metal with a clear goal. To destroy you, to totally shred you. The chosen style is then notorious and influenced by Nordic melodies that were played in Sweden long ago. So I recommend a good beer, a freshly dug grave and volume all the way to the right.


Frosty melodies float over the cemetery. Zombies dance to the furious rhythms. I feel like in the days of my youth, when bands like ENTOMBED, NIHILIST, DISMEMBER, SORCERY, ENTRAILS ruled the world. Moreover, the gentlemen did their grave digging job very well. They paid attention to the sound, to the production, but also to the cover, which is really very good. But it's not just the formal side of things that I like. The songs also have this hard-to-define desire to destroy. Maybe that's why the new EP "Graveyard Decay " is best listened to in old burial grounds, catacombs or morgues. The Argentinians have made a great style record. I like that they tried to put their own ideas and inventiveness into the songs. It is a simple fact that the album is very easy to listen to and I like to come back to it. Music is my companion outside of sleep all the time. But sometimes it gets into my dreams. That's when I dance with the most beautiful zombies, enjoy the dead atmosphere and look forward to hell opening its gates. All you have to do is enter. I'm so glad I met BLODIG on my underground wanderings. Otherwise I would have been deprived of another of the great morbid experiences. I'm having another beer and tapping my foot to the beat. I smile with satisfaction, and so do all the undead. It's mostly for them. I'll sign you with my own blood that this EP cuts with the right side of the knife. Jsi slepý a přesto vidíš. Děsivé představy, které ti létají hlavou jsou důsledkem nekonečné bolesti, která tě provázela poslední roky. Nakažen pradávnou chorobou si se rád a často toulal mezi stíny. Tvé kroky tě vždy nakonec dovedly daleko za město, do hlubokého lesa. Sedával si na starém pohřebišti a rozmlouval s démony. Poslouchal si u toho debutovou desku italských black death metalistů PYRA. A při každém společném setkání si měl pocit, že ti podala ruku samotná Smrt.

Je to hodně návykový materiál, který je určený pro všechny tmáře, pro obdivovatele temných zákoutí a chladných katakomb. Ano, zde, hluboko pod zemí, vedle starých prašivých rakví, muselo být album "Those Who Dwell in the Fire" nahráváno. Také cítíte pach tlejícího masa a síry? Novinku nelze jinak, než doporučit. Všem démonům i přízrakům. 


Pod touhle kapelou jsou podepsáni zkušení muzikanti, kteří si dali velký pozor na zvuk, na obal, na celkové provedení. Fanoušek dostane opravdu zdařilé dílo po všech stránkách. Není to ale jen skvělá řemeslná práce, která se mi líbí. Vždy sázím hodně na atmosféru. Hudba mě musí nějakým  způsobem zasáhnout, připoutat k reproduktorům. "Those Who Dwell in the Fire" jsem poslouchal nejraději uprostřed noci, když byla v ulicích mlha. Nemohl jsem spát a noční můry mi našeptávaly, abych šel ven. Dějí se tu podivné věci, napadlo mě ihned, když jsem se sluchátky na uších sledoval dlouhé stíny i krkavce na hřbitovní zdi. Jsme jenom prach, kus masa, čekající v různých stádiích rozkladu na smrt. PYRA na to jdou od srdce, opravdově, ryze. Mají talent na to, složit dobré skladby, které se mi dostaly pod kůži. Každé společné setkání je tak spíše rituálem, než jen obyčejnou hudbou. Mám to tahle rád. Tajemné motivy, nálady barvy krve, létající kolem jako můry kolem světla. Umíráme a rodíme se, motáme se v nekonečném kruhu. Jsem moc rád, že ještě existují skupiny, které dokáží pomocí svých melodií zhudebnit mlhu nad hřbitovem. V některých momentech mi tahle smečka lehce připomíná to, co dělají třeba takoví PORTAL, ULCERATE, PHOBOCOSM. Italové jsou magičtí, záhadní, tajemní. Jako bych byl součástí něčeho většího, vesmírného, divokého, co nedokážu definovat slovy. Jsem slepý a přesto vidím. Děsivé představy, které mi létají hlavou jsou důsledkem nekonečné bolesti, která mě provázela poslední roky. Nakažen pradávnou chorobou se rád a často toulám mezi stíny. Záhadný, syrový, mlhavý black death metal, který jde až k samé podstatě smrti! Pocta všem démonům!

You're blind and yet you can see. The frightening images that fly through your mind are the result of the endless pain that has accompanied you for the past years. Infected by an ancient disease, you have often and gladly wandered among the shadows. Your footsteps always led you far beyond the city, into the deep forest. You used to sit in an old burial ground and talk to demons. Listening to the debut album of Italian black death metallers PYRA. And every time you were together, you felt like Death himself was shaking your hand.

It's a very addictive material, which is meant for all darkies, for admirers of dark corners and cold catacombs. Yes, this is where "Those Who Dwell in the Fire" must have been recorded, deep underground, next to the old dusty coffins. Do you also smell the smell of smouldering flesh and sulphur? We can't but recommend this new album. To all demons and ghosts.


This band is signed by experienced musicians who paid a lot of attention to the sound, the cover, the overall performance. The fan gets a really successful work in all aspects. But it's not just the great craftsmanship that I like. I always bet a lot on the atmosphere. The music has to hit me in some way, hook me to the speakers. My favourite time to listen to "Those Who Dwell in the Fire" was in the middle of the night when the streets were foggy. I couldn't sleep, and nightmares whispered to me to go out. Strange things were happening here, I thought immediately, as I watched the long shadows and the ravens on the cemetery wall with my headphones on. We're just dust, a piece of flesh, waiting in various stages of decomposition to die. PYRA go at it from the heart, truly, genuinely. They have a knack for writing good songs that get under my skin. It makes every get-together a ritual rather than just plain music. I like this one. Mysterious motifs, moods the color of blood, flying around like moths around a light. We die and are born, spinning in an endless circle. I'm so glad there are still bands out there who can use their melodies to musicalize the fog over the cemetery. In some moments this pack reminds me a bit of what PORTAL, ULCERATE, PHOBOCOSM do. The Italians are magical, mysterious, mysterious. It's like I'm part of something bigger, cosmic, wild, that I can't define in words. I am blind and yet I see. The frightening images that fly through my head are the result of the endless pain that has been with me for the past years. Infected by an ancient disease, I like to wander among the shadows. Mysterious, raw, hazy black death metal that goes to the very essence of death! A tribute to all demons!

Jako prvního jsem si všiml krkavce, který držel v zobáku kus shnilého masa. Teprve až po nějakém čase mi došlo, že má zaseknuté drápy do mrtvoly. Kolem bylo ticho, přesto jsem cítil zlo, které doslova sálalo z okolních stromů. Někdy bývají moje představy při poslechu nové muziky děsivé. Nedokážu jen tak sedět a poslouchat. U nové desky, prvního dlouhohrajícího alba "Homo Homini Lupus", jsem se kýval do rytmu jako starý hrobník. Nasával jsem pach smrti a užíval si temnou a chladnou atmosféru. 

Smrt je velmi blízko, napadá mě pokaždé, když vložím tuhle nahrávku do přehrávače. Procházím se mlhavým oparem a nasávám síru. Italové jsou jako vyslanci samotného pekla. Hrají od srdce, odhodlaně a s jasným účelem. Zabít vás svými riffy, vokálem i bicími. Krkavec zvedl svoji hlavu a podíval se na mě. Budu další na řadě. 


Z hudby KERES je cítit takové to opravdové nadšení, síla a energie, kterou mívaly staré kapely. Možná právě proto jsem se rozhodl o těchto maniakálních Italech napsat. Jejich muzika je volně inspirována tím, co hrají třeba takoví BEHEMOTH, HATE, BELPHEGOR, HATH, THRONE, VREDEHAMMER, DECAPITATED. Moje přirovnání berte ale jenom jako popis pro lepší orientaci. Jinak se snaží mít tihle gentlemani svůj rukopis a výraz. Některé motivy jsou velmi ostré, zemité, rustikální, jako čerstvě otevřený hrob, jiné zase majestátní a tajemné, jako smradlavá mlha nad hřbitovem. Vše, co se týká zvuku, obalu, produkce a celkového provedení, je v nejlepším pořádku. Osobně bych možná ocenil ještě trošku víc špíny a zkažené krve, ale zase na druhou stranu, nahrávka je alespoň více "přístupná" a lépe se poslouchá. Zároveň, a to se mi osobně velmi líbí, se pánové snaží svoje hranice posouvat, překračovat je. Posluchač si tak může vychutnat spoustu zajímavých, neotřelých momentů. Základem je sice stále klasický, tradiční kov smrti, ušpiněný černotou, ale přidávány jsou kusy (nebál bych se napsat) progresivních pasáží. Výsledkem je potom velmi chutný koktejl, který když pozřete, tak zemřete v krutých křečích. Jako prvního jsem si všiml krkavce, který držel v zobáku kus shnilého masa. Teprve až po nějakém čase mi došlo, že má zaseknuté drápy do mrtvoly. Kolem bylo ticho, přesto jsem cítil zlo, které doslova sálalo z okolních stromů. Někdy bývají moje představy při poslechu nové muziky děsivé.  U "Homo Homini Lupus" bych vám to podepsal vlastní krví. Mrazivá, temná a tajemná noční můra, která vás roztrhá na kusy! U tohoto alba se rozpadnete v prach!

The first thing I noticed was a raven holding a piece of rotten meat in its beak. It was only after some time that I realised that his claws were stuck in the carcass. It was quiet around me, yet I could feel the evil that was literally radiating from the surrounding trees. Sometimes my imaginings when listening to new music are frightening. I can't just sit and listen. With the new album, the first full-length, "Homo Homini Lupus", I swayed to the beat like an old undertaker. I soaked up the smell of death and enjoyed the dark and cold atmosphere.

Death is very near, I think of it every time I put this record in my player. I walk through the misty haze and suck in the sulphur. The Italians are like emissaries of hell itself. They play with heart, determination and a clear purpose. To kill you with their riffs, vocals and drums. The raven raised his head and looked at me. I'll be next.


The music of KERES has that real enthusiasm, power and energy that the old bands used to have. Maybe that's why I decided to write about these maniacal Italians. Their music is loosely inspired by the likes of BEHEMOTH, HATE, BELPHEGOR, HATH, THRONE, VREDEHAMMER, DECAPITATED. But take my comparisons as a description for better orientation. Otherwise, these gentlemen are trying to have their own signature and expression. Some of the motifs are very sharp, earthy, rustic, like a freshly opened grave, others are majestic and mysterious, like a stinking fog over a cemetery. Everything about the sound, the packaging, the production and the overall execution is in the best of order. Personally, I might have appreciated a bit more dirt and bad blood, but then again, the recording is at least more "accessible" and easier to listen to. At the same time, and I personally like this a lot, the gentlemen try to push their boundaries, to cross them. The listener can thus enjoy many interesting, novel moments. The base is still the classic, traditional death metal, stained with blackness, but pieces of (I wouldn't be afraid to write) progressive passages are added. The result, then, is a very tasty cocktail that, if you watch it, you will die in violent convulsions. The first thing I noticed was a raven holding a piece of rotten meat in its beak. Již je to dlouhá doba, kdy jsem si poprvé všiml několika náhrobků v rohu hřbitova. Opuštěné hroby, ke kterým nikdo nikdy nechodí. Prokleté místo, na kterém se dějí divné věci. Dnes ráno jsem otevřel rezavou bránu a nestačil se divit. Kříž, který mě každý den vítá, byl povalený na zem. Socha Ježíše od krve a zohavená. Něco se stalo. Něco hrozného. Prohledám celý hřbitov, až dojdu k místu, kde jsou pohřbeni prokletí. Na každém hrobě leží mrtvola, přikovaná k zemi. Odříkal jsem obrácenou modlitbu a zavřel se do márnice.

Poslouchám novou desku WITCH VOMIT z Oregonu. Jedná se o kapelu, které se na našich stránkách věnujeme už od jejich počátků. Letos tahle divoká smečka přichází se svým třetím, dlouhohrajícím albem. Když si jej poslechnete, ihned se na vás doslova vyvalí obrovské množství špíny, hniloby, roztrhaných pavučin i atmosféry, kterou lze nalézt pouze v dobrém death metalu a na místech, kde byla exhumována těla prokletých. 


Je to old school přesně podle mého gusta. Pokud jste, stejně jako já, poprvé přičichli ke kovu smrti v devadesátých letech minulého století a dodnes vám dělá dobře chladná a temná atmosféra dávno opuštěných hřbitovů, potom jste zde správně. WITCH VOMIT ale nejsou jenom obyčejnou, dnes tolik častou retro kapelou. Naopak, když rozkryjete jejich novou desku po jednotlivých vrstvách, zjistíte, že se pánové a dáma sice inspirovali ve starých archívech (INCANTATION, CARNAGE, BOLT THROWER, AUTOPSY, INFESTER, DISSSECTION), ale snaží se přinést i něco nového. Kus sebe samých, krvavý otisk ze záhrobí. Album má parádní plesnivý zvuk (Dan Lowndes - mastering, Evan Mersky - recording, mixing). Spokojený jsem i s monumentálním a tajemným obalem (Matt Stikker). Splněno bylo vše potřebné, abych se mohl soustředit jen na hudbu samotnou. S tou jsem také nadmíru spokojený. Je syrová, valí se kupředu jako buldozer, hrnoucí před sebou kosti z hromadného hrobu. Kapela má cit a talent pro věci, které nejsou z tohoto světa. Nahrávat se muselo hluboko pod zemí, na místech, kde jsou pochována těla těch, kteří za svého působení na zemi způsobili něco zlého. Užívám si temné a zahnívající nálady, které se vznáší během poslechu kolem, jako můry kolem ohně. Agresivita, brutalita, morbidní melodie, chorobný vokál, riffy ostré tak, že po nich zůstávají popraskané rakve. Démoni tančí a smějí se do mrtvolného ticha. Tuhle nahrávku lze doporučit všem, kteří mají rádi mlhavá rána nad hřbitovem, krkavce, sedícího pokaždé na mramorovém náhrobku. Líbí se mi styl a způsob, jakým kapela přistupuje ke své hrobnické práci. Nelze jinak, než jejich novou desku "Funeral Sanctum" všude doporučovat. Alespoň mezi těmi, kteří tráví svůj život ve stínu. Plesnivina čerstvě otevřených, znesvěcených hrobů! Old school death metal, shnilá ruka mrtvoly, která do vás zasekne svůj dráp!

It's been a long time since I first noticed a few headstones in the corner of the cemetery. Abandoned graves that nobody ever goes to. A cursed place where strange things happen. I opened the rusty gate this morning and couldn't help wondering. The cross that greets me every day had been thrown to the ground. The statue of Jesus bloodied and mutilated. Something happened. Something terrible. I'll search the whole cemetery until I reach the place where the damned are buried. In each grave, a corpse lies pinned to the ground. I say a prayer in reverse and shut myself in the morgue.

I listen to the new WITCH VOMIT record from Oregon. This is a band that we have been covering on our site since their early days. This year, this wild bunch comes out with their third full-length album. When you listen to it, you are immediately literally thrown a huge amount of filth, rot, torn cobwebs and atmosphere that can only be found in good death metal and places where the bodies of the damned have been exhumed.


It's old school just the way I like it. If, like me, you first smelled death metal in the 1990s and still enjoy the cold and dark atmosphere of long-abandoned cemeteries, then you've come to the right place. But WITCH VOMIT are not just an ordinary retro band, so common nowadays. On the contrary, if you unravel their new record layer by layer, you'll find that the lords and ladies may have taken inspiration from the old archives (INCANTATION, CARNAGE, BOLT THROWER, AUTOPSY, INFESTER, DISSSECTION), but they're also trying to bring something new to the table. A piece of themselves, a bloody imprint from beyond the grave. The album has a great mouldy sound (Dan Lowndes - mastering, Evan Mersky - recording, mixing). I'm also happy with the monumental and mysterious cover art (Matt Stikker). Everything I needed to concentrate on the music itself was fulfilled. I am also extremely satisfied with it. It's raw, rolling forward like a bulldozer throwing bones from a mass grave in front of it. The band has a flair and talent for things that are not of this world. The recording had to be done deep underground, in places where the bodies of those who have done wrong during their time on earth are buried. I enjoy the dark and decaying moods that hover around while listening, like moths around a fire. Aggression, brutality, morbid melodies, morbid vocals, riffs so sharp they leave cracked coffins. Demons dancing and laughing into the dead silence. This record can be recommended to anyone who likes misty mornings over a graveyard, a raven sitting on a marble tombstone every time. I like the style and the way the band approaches their grave digging work. I can't help but recommend their new album "Funeral Sanctum" everywhere. At least among those who spend their lives in the shadows. The mould of freshly opened, desecrated graves! Old school death metal, the rotten hand of a corpse sinking its claw into you!
